I'll be getting this one tomorrow, but the last drone that I had was a HS720E, and what I found was, that if I flew it within 20 feet or so of a cell phone tower I had no control over the drone, and I had to just wait and hope that the drone would fly far enough away from the tower on its own until I could regain control over the drone without the drone crashing into the tower. So I figure that the cell tower signal was interfering with the signal between the controller and drone. I actually had the HS720E fly away and never come back after many flights, so I don't know why that was, and I waited for 30 Minutes but it never came back, so I figure that either it had hit something killing the motor, causing the drone to crash land wherever it was, or maybe the drone was knocked out of the sky by a bird, or maybe someone knocked it down somehow or maybe it lost the return to home GPS location info and maybe landed somewhere else, or maybe it even crashed into the cell phone service tower. It wasn't shot down though as I was in town, unless they used a slingshot, or something that didn't make noise, or something. Actually, I was viewing the HS710, and wanted to order it, but when I clicked on it, somehow I was sent a HS175D instead. The reason why I wanted the HS710, or another HS720, was that I liked the fact that the controllers of those models have all of the information right on the controller, like the height, distance, battery condition of the drone and controller, etc, and the HS175D you need to look at the APP to see that info. You see when I tried to fly the HS720E using the APP for that drone, I'd lose the video signal within only 20 to 50 feet, depending upon direction, terrain, buildings, trees, etc, so I like to fly not using the cell phone and APP, and I like to use just the controller to fly it. I hope that the video signal of the cell phone APP works better on the HS175D than it did when I used the HS720E, or I'll be slightly unhappy, but if I lose the video within a short distance, then I'll have to try to fly the drone by eyesight and using only the controller, as with the HS720E I could see how high the drone was, and how far away it was from me just by looking at the controller, and I could use my eyes to watch the drone, and I could use the controller without the cell phone and APP to fly it since the controller of that drone had all of the required info. I don't suppose that the controller from the HS720E would work with the HS175D...probably uses a different frequency and/or maybe the controls would work differently.
I've had this drone a little over a week now, every time I would go for distance, and or height the HS175D wouldn't respond to the commands I will try not using beginner mode and putting the cell phone to airplane mode. I wanted to be able to get closer to things, see further and use for my home made music videos, but the drone gets caught in trees and the blades gets damaged, for now I will blame it on user error, as long as I stay around 11-12ft and fly no more than 20 yards I can maintain a bit of control, but as soon as I push the envelope it wont take long before I find myself hoping that I can get it from the tree tops again, my luck will run out if I don't figure out what I can do so that my HS175D fly like the ones that I see on UA-cam, suggestions are welcome, please and thank you!!!!
I have the HS175. In hind site I should have gotten the 175d but regardless. I’m having issues with the live video to the iPhone feed. I’ve done everything Hoystone has recommended but the video feed freezes as soon as the drone gets about 100 feet from me. And sometimes stays frozen until I get it back and reboot everything. I don’t lose any control and the recorded video to the sd card is great, I just can’t tell what I’m recording or if record is on or off. Did you have any issues with this? I don’t expect it to be perfect but it is beyond “choppy”.
