So...Jake Sloan..I purchased a drone 2-3 years ago and there it sits. Yep...old man 'afraid' to take the first steps. Thank you for giving me the confidence to go out and have a little fun.
you're welcome! Go and have some fun and take your time to build up confidence!!
I’m in a similar boat. Had a couple of close flights, but not over water or too far away.
I crashed mine the first try.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@otiebars32 Sorry to hear that happened to you. Hopefully, it wasn't damaged to the point where you can't fly it again. Try to hang in there if it wasn't.
Very clear lesson, Kudos to you. I'm tempted to get a drone and am studying the recommendations of experienced guys like yourself, Jake. I have a lifetime of being an unqualified fixed-wing pilot (can do the flying and understand the primary instruments but not radio or navigation) and think I will really enjoy this in my retirement. Airspace restrictions are real here in Switzerland so am going into it with eyes open. All the best, thanks for a great video, Rob.
Cheers and best of luck!!

I have replied to others, can this idiot speak slower to train people correctly,I'm a mechanic & I can teach people to a very high level but I speak slower and repeat with questions to make shure everyone understand everything I said. This idiot is speaking far to fast to take anything in.
These are worth watching just for the scenery. Excellent for new pilots
Thanks a lot!!
you got that right buddy..!!
How is this excellent for pilots? The controls are different
Thank you for this comprehensive drone flight lesson.. You are a really good trainer.💎
You’re welcome
Thank you so much for this video! We've had our drone for over a year and had no clue. We couldn't figure it out! This is the perfect help!!
Glad to hear it!!
Excellent vid for beginners- thanks. I've got about 200 hours flight time and totaled my Mavic Pro twice. All good. One suggestion for beginners is to learn to watch battery usage. It can be freaky for a beginner when the drone returns to home automatically because of low remaining battery. If you have trees or obstacles nearby, the experience can be stressful because the drone is very difficult to manually control in RTH mode. Keep up the great work!
excellent point!
plz help get a drone
Yes, Neil! Watching battery usage. Most UAS apps allow you to set a warning when you battery life is getting low - often with a voice saying, “Warning. Battery life is low.”
Im from sri lanka. Can u help me to buy one. I really love to have one. Its a drean.
What is the name of the drone, you are using in this video
I really want to thank you for this video, because I just purchased a new drone and I have watched alot of video's on u-tube and your video thought me the correct way to fly a drone and if I could give you a 5 STAR ON you doing this learning new drone people to do it correctly your the man enjoyed it thoroughly and thanks for your acknowledgement!
You're welcome! enjoy flying your drone!!
“U tube”
Great video! Sometimes I get impatient when I go out to fly my drone, but the pre-flight check reminds me to take my time. Thanks!
You’re welcome
Thanks so much for all the info. Such a great help for us beginners. Subbed! Looking forward doing the course. Maybe soon!
You’re welcome!
This information is awesome I'm about ready to fly my dji mini pro for the first time flying it and flying a drone but your video gave me the confidence that I needed to get out and fly it. Keep up the good work I'm following.
Glad to hear it and thank you!!
Mini pro?
Thanks, great video! Stunningly beautiful location too!
Thanks!
Great Video Jake! Really easy to understand and It made me want to Fly a Drone and maybe take your Course too. Thx for posting

Thank you for having great production quality, most how-to videos are hard to watch. Informative and enjoyable 🖖
Glad you like them!
This is a great video for beginners. Thanks Jake.
Glad you liked it!
This was so helpful and informative. Thank you 💞
So glad!
Thanks for the video Jake, I like that it's succinct and you explain the basics very clearly. I'm about to buy a Mini2 for a holiday in BC Canada, very excited to get some great footage of the family there. Cheers from the UK.
Thanks and Cheers!!
Great video brother👍. Wonderful beginners guide . I think your one of the best on these tuturiols on YT. Keep rockin brother.
I appreciate that! Thanks!!

You’re welcome

Thanks sir for your helpful tips
Always welcome
Thank you for keeping it simple and down where I could learn as a newbie. Great video
Very welcome!
Extremely helpful video for someone’s that isn’t familiar with drones. Thank you very much for the content man. Not going to lie, when you said ludicrous mode the first thing my brain thought of was spaceballs 😂 “set drone to…ludicrous speed”
hahahahaha
Thank you teaching
You are welcome
Thanks Jake! This was great.
You’re welcome
Think I need to update my Drone, still rocking the Mavic pro… thanks for the great video!!!
nice and yeah it might be time lol
Cries in phantom 3
I took your beginners course, Jake. Just wanted to thank you. It really helps to have someone walk step by step through the initial learning curve. And it never hurts to hear the core cautions again. It can make a big difference just to know that everyone (even experienced drone operators) needed lots of practice on the basics and to have a roadmap for what I should be concentrating on and gradually progressing through. I've usually had to improvise, or compensate, for something unexpected at least once during my early flights and it is due to YT creators like yourself that I've been able to adjust and safely deal with the situation (except for one failed hand landing). But as well as building up muscle memory and neural connections, I'm re-watching any YT video with useful info on the Air 2S. I find it important to refer to my drone as an 'aircraft', because it reminds me of the potential hazard and safety issues that I am responsible for avoiding.
Agreed and thank you
Super informative and made me more confident to fly for the firsts time! Thankyou for the help
Glad I could help!
You are good teacher. Thank you for the video👍
You are welcome
Thanks. Always wondered about this. I use to fly 2 meter RC gliders years ago. This looks like a very cool hobby and tool.
What would you recommend as a drone to get started with. Something not too expensive but not junk either.
I’d recommend the DJI mini 2. Doesn’t cost too much and flys really well.
@@JakeSloan Thanks. It’s a fair amount of money but if the units a good bit cheaper are kind of junky and not capable enough. So be it.
I know exactly what you are saying. Same thing is true with telescopes. Some things you can get away with cheap, others you can’t.
I've never crashed a drone. Perhaps that's luck, perhaps that's talent or perhaps it's that I've never flown a drone. I'm working on my part 107 right now and once I get it, I'll be revisiting your channel and determining if my instinct to buy a Skydio 2 for the feature set (tracking) is best for a first drone. After watching your other videos I'm tempted to get a 2S just learn so it's less hurt if I crash it bad.
🤣 You crack me up, Allen.
LOL Allen if you want a crash drone get the mini 2 it's cheaper 😂😜
😆
Get the harbor freight drone for a crash course pardon the pun . Only like 50$ and has a camera you use through the app on your phone . Also the remote controler has a mount for your phone
Vividly explained, thanx a tonn.👍
You’re welcome
Good presentation. Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to keep my Amazon drone from drifting away or overcompensating the inputs.
Grew frustrated enough to give it away to a relative.
Dang sorry to hear that
I was in the same boat. I think the DJI stuff must be the iPhone of the drone world where they do a lot of the work for you. My drone experience was very similar. Constantly correcting it just to keep it in place. I just bought a DJI Mini 2 and I am hoping it will take a lot of that stability issue away. It could be that I am just terrible at flying a drone too! That has to be a consideration.
Great video..I’ve flown mostly toy type drones. I upgraded a little to a HS175D. It flies great and the photos it takes are very good, to me anyway. An issue I have is the glare looking at the app. If it’s sunny I can’t see a thing. This is why I’m considering the Mavic Mini 3 pro. I’m thinking the glare won’t be so bad using the RC controller..But then I fly almost completely line of sight. It’s confusing why these drones fly so far away, because I believe the rule is were suppose to be flying it at a distance we can see it.
You are correct about keeping the drone in line of sight and at a distance where you can actually see it. As far as glare it will be an issue with any controller but there are options for small sun hoods on Amazon etc that really help a lot
Maybe try one of those anti glare screen protectors.
If you really getting in the hobby and want a great screen, get yourself a triple tech pro 8 inch drone tablet. You can get them on Amazon. They’re about $800. They’re made specifically for drones they’re super bright about 1200 nits. The other thing is that you can use them for anything else that a tablet can do just like an iPad. This one also has built-in cellular service. If you want it, you don’t have to have it, but the tablet is capable of it. And you will have no problem seeing that at all even indirect, bright sunlight. It’s definitely an investment, but if you get into the drone, hobby scene, the screen is something that’s very very important to me. Matter fact, I don’t really like to fly If I can’t clearly see my screen. You can also use the tablet on all different kinds of drones.
not only was the BEST flight video I have EVER seen, he just sounded so nice in the video! I’m about to buy the DJI mini 2 and this sounded perfect! Cheers from the US and have a great day!
Good choice!
love it i learn
Cheers
I buy one. I'm happy to learn to fly soon.. Praise Jesus Christ our Lord God
Cheers!

Great video!
I was of the believe that you’d just fly it through the screen like a video game, didn’t think on the other perspective of watching the drone physically and practice
Thanks!
Thank you for keeping it simple for me as a beginner, I enjoyed it.

Jake, the scenery behind you is beautiful. It reminds me of when I lived in Montana some years ago.

Very informative Jake, thanks. Where you were, looked a lot like Scotland to me. Great scenery for some striking footage. I know now that you are in Anchorage, you should take a trip to Scotland some day, I'm sure you'd love it.
I have been to Scotland twice and LOVED IT. mostly around the Edinburgh area but also a trip up to Castletown which was amazing. I would really like to come back

Well done, Jake! I haven't received my drone yet, from Amazon. But I figured I would be that much further ahead, to inform myself a little, before I go out and do something dumb. So thank you so much, for your excellent, informative tutorials!

Thanks for this very informative lesson. I'd bought a little drone for my great nephew for Xmas then went out and bought a bigger one for myself so that I could possibly teach him the basics. I'm in my 60,s and now that I've watched this I dont think I,ll crash so much and cause myself too much embarrassment.
You're welcome
