Just picked up this drone after watching this video. Lot of these comments are wrong about this drone, I think some people just expect too much of this drone when its budget. From my experience it's an amazing drone and it does handle wind pretty well from my experience. Great little drone to start my videography and drone photography and just general learning on how to fly a drone with a camera and with live video from the phone. Thanks for making the video!
Thank you for detailed review. I just bought this model as my first drone and you covered all the features in a manner that beginner like me appreciates before flying it for the first time.
Thanks for the thorough review. I just bought this HS175D as my first drone, and the video gave a nice overview of the features, and I what I can likely expect. It was particularly helpful how you included the app-display-view as well as the camera view in your video for most of the flight. The manual (if you can call it that) doesn't explain much (CON). After my first few flights, my greatest PRO is battery life, getting a consistent 20-22 minutes of flight time per battery (x2).
1st and foremost, great coverage on the review, fair and honest assessment of the drone. 2nd, all the drone snobs either forgot what its like to fly a budget drone or never had one as they place their DJI or mavic on a pedestal and look down on the rest. I think they should pick up 60 to 80 dollar drone that doesn't have a stabilizing gimble, no flight features, only a 10 minute flight time, having to manually adjust trim constantly and then compare that to this drone and their top tier drone. This drone goes leaps and bounds for double the price of the cheapest budget drone with a camera. In retro spec this drone has some major features that won't break the bank. Lastly, everyone wants that Bently or that lambo, those Air Jordan's, newest iPhone, but you know what, not everyone can afford it. This is close enough. In my opinion cheaper drones make better pilots because they don't have all the safety sensors, auto features that the top tier drones have.
Maaaaan! I couldn't have said it better myself. Agreed on all points. These are great drones to learn on. I started on a little quadcopter that literally fit in my hand and that's how I learned to fly and got completely hooked. I could go on about this subject forever. Thanks for chiming in.
Thanks for producing a professional review video. So many people who do reviews I can’t stand to watch. their one hand on their camera and one trying to manipulate the item they are reviewing drives me nuts.
I did stabilized footage in my review with in google photos app! It helped a lot, I must say! Nice job 👍 btw ( as always:) . Keep up the good work man!
Informative, honest, helpful visuals and observations from experience, too. Since you are not far from the airport, there could be drone blocking signals affecting your max height (look up the map of altitude above ground restrictions: 100' or 200' or full 400' allowances). People wanting piloting experience will benefit from this drone. Online exercises to gain 'muscle memory' are worth mentioning, too, like the one by "UAV Coach." After getting skilled in piloting, then comes the need to frame could photo (or video) compositions. Once mastering pilot & photo skills, then it makes sense to move up to pricier gear. But for foundational flying and photography from the air, this one is a good one.
I couldn’t have said it better. I’m regularly telling guys that want to get into drones to start with something like this and work up from there. I got started on quadcopters with no altitude hold or gps or any of that but those suckers could take a crash. Wash rinse repeat and I got better and better.
Wow, you are too kind. I WISH I could post as regularly as Captain Drone. I have so many ideas and I enjoy making videos. Hopefully I can get on a regular posting schedule at some point. I appreciate your support!
It shouldn’t. If it does it has a defect. Most gps drones have failsafes that returns the drone to the launch point when the battery gets low. It’s called RTH return to home.
@@GadgetInspector That was proposed by support at Holy Stone as well. It does have a motor that is a little slow starting. They sent me a new one, but, guess what? Same behaviour.
I’ve only had the HS175D for a week I notice that when I go for distance and or height I loose the ability to control the direction it crashed and got caught in trees thank goodness I was able to shake the branches by attaching a weighted object on a long string and got the drone back, but point is I’m reluctant to keep trying to push the limits of the HS175D as long as I keep the distance short and the height reasonable I can somewhat keep a bit of control I wish there was something to help me to used this drone for the purpose I had in mind and that was to see further and higher,,,,,,,,,,,,
Sounds like you have interference from other signals either from where you are flying or from what you are wearing. Turn on airplane mode, and if you have bluetooth enabled devices around like an Apple watch or fitbit, try leaving that at home and see if there's an improvement.
@@GadgetInspector Thank you so much for replying GadgetInspector, I will also try disabling the beginner mode to see if the distance and height can be controlled better
I have an iPhone 13 and it fits so compare the dimensions and make the call. You'll definitely have to take off any bumper or case for it to fit though.
I have this exact drone as well. I was at the 140 meter mark and the camera shut off. Return to home didn't work either, so I had to eyeball fly it back. What causes this to happen? does flying in non gps mode extend range?
No clue. I wouldn't think turning GPS off would extend range. You'll lose video transmission before you lose control, but I don't think there's a way to turn off auto RTH.
Nicely done review. Purchased new one; camera motion failed after a few minutes. Returned. Will try a second new one. Have you had any camera movement problems after further use?

Good video as always mate.. Such a shame it does not have a gimbal of at least 2 axis or it would be a pretty good drone, but as the EIS is not great it’s definitely not one I would look to get or recommend for filming..
Yea these kinds of drones were most prevalent a few years ago and now there are a lot of options that have some kind of stabilization. Just depends on whether someone wants to spend a few extra bucks to get it.
I'm not sure that the FAA has determined, at which weight a drone will not need to be registered ... if at all possible, I'd prefer to get at least one drone that lies well below 250grams ...
Saw this drone on Amazon when looking at the DJI mini. Seems OK but the footage is pretty awful compared to the mini. I know there’s a difference in price but the difference in quality and stability make the mini look good value. This is cool for family holidays or the like but not worth it for anything remotely serious.

I have this drone I am very impressed with it for the price it is great in every way except one 😡 it won’t calibrate for the life of me. Other than that it’s perfect.
I'd return/exchange it if you can't do a compass calibration. That's a crash waiting to happen. I didn't think it would let you launch without calibrating though.
I got this drone and on 2nd day, when it is flying around 16mtrs height, suddenly, GPS mode is lost (I've been flying in the middle of the city) , a lil bit of gust came from the other side and the drone flew off without control and fell into the lake 500mtrs away. Auto return home function when out of range or 'return to home' button didn't work at all. I had a very shitty experience and NO DRONE NOW. I'd recommend not to buy these unreliable products.
