To anyone that has a problem with this claymore knife , i put lucas gun oil on the movable parts as i do with all my knives espically auto and assisted , and man does it help. This knife is power in deployment for sure. The lube really fixed the button movement. Very satisfied with this knife....
Thanks for the review, Aaron. I wish manual versions would be offered more routinely for those of us who can't carry autos (that's the only real prohbition here).
BOOM GOES THE CLAYMORE !!!! Love auto’s but it’s illegal we’re I live gotta go Manuel. Love that diamond hand sharpener with that orange wrapped handle saw it on one of your old video’s and had to get it and I love it. I have alout of Benchmades and you can’t go wrong with them as well as Spyderco,ZT and Hogue knives in my opinion. FYI I also wear a medium woman’s size glove 😂. If I had a choice I’d pick the Protec auto don’t own any protec knives but they look grrrreat!!
I just picked up a Meatcrafter for 50 % off because Bass Pro lost the box and sheath . Can’t wait to carve up some fish and deer with it . Which came first ? The claymore or 06 auto ? They look eerily similar.
Assisted and the automatic are pretty much the same as far as how the spring works and the way they fire out. I like both of them, but the 2 are so close that it's always funny to me how the automatics are always more expensive. What can you say, the power of marketing.😂😂 Awesome video, brother 👍
I think some of the price hike in autos is that because they are illegal in many places the market is a lot smaller. There for the prices are inflated to make a profit.
OMG! What did we ever do when folding knives required 2 hands to open and close? Thank goodness for all these magical improvements of the 21st Century. Nice review of these knives. Thanks!
I have the green serrated original one that came out it’s one of the best knives made today it’s almost perfect in weight height size the crack of the snap is so loud and fast . Deep pocket clip . It’s just close to being perfect .
Good review of the Claymore, never owned or used one before, looks pretty sweet though! I’ve been following your channel for knife reviews for a while and your reviews are the best since you actually test the knives. If you get the chance to, you should do a hands on review of the Microtech MSI, if you’re able to get one anyways (as they’re difficult to get). It’s an awesome folder for sure!
Thanks again for a very informative vid. I am personally into assisted folders due to my hand arthritis. my regular EDC rotation is all assisted...Kershaw Dividend, CRKT LCK, and ZT 0566cm. But, after watching this vid, I am very interested in the Claymore Mini. I have medium hands so it would fit perfectly. I'll let you know what I think.
If you like this size auto. Benchmade also offers a 2551 Mini-Reflex auto. Blade is 3.18" 154cm. Full flat grind. Aluminum scales. A little over 2 ounces. About the same price, maybe a couple dollars cheaper. Just my amateur 2 cents. My father had bad arthritis as well.
That’s easy, the sogs are cool because they are slim and interesting action, but the Benchmade is stronger and and fuller in the hand for tactical hard use. The sogs are more light edc for me
G'day Aaron. no autos allowed here, or assisted, but regardless of deployment method, I very much like the design in general. BM would do well to offer a manual version IMO, i.e. like a straight up long black espresso ; ) Interesting that "Claymore", originally a Scottish sword, if memory serves, ended up naming a perimeter mine, and now back again as a folder; I guess there's a common thread, from a "front on, clearing", perspective ....... though I reckon it's drawing a long bow across the three, lol ..... In any event ... Laird Claymore and fam must be doing very well from royalties. Btw; for those of us suffering over zealous knife laws; what ever happened to filippers, I have couple that fly out, literally within a fraction of a second, of an auto, I reckon you'd be very hard pressed to even measure the difference. Incidentally, I let the Ruike Fang "rip", right next to my best mate, (g'day Stevo if you're watching), ..... just to cut up some burger veg around the "barbie" (BBQ), ..... he jumped out of his chair, ..... (never seen him move so fast, ..... with a few "frothies", (beers), on board anyway), ......followed by several expletives, ..... it wasn't my intention, ... my bad ..... but ....................... it was priceless, hehehe. An Opinel next time I think ; ) Cheers Duke.
I experimented with coffee for many year’s. In the end my preferences went back to a good blend of beans, no fluff just black. I noticed you using two hands to operate those blades...reminded me of why I disliked assisted knives. The claymore reminds me of a Glock with a safety. While I can appreciate plastic/polymer as a tool I much prefer say a Colt Python for that price. Correct me if I’m wrong but back in the day manufacturers steered away from CPM D2 because it didn’t offer a significant difference in performance from the standard D2 verses it’s cost...
benchmade & spyderco are both on the crack pipe if they think im spending well over a hundred or 2 hundred bucks on a knife with a PLASTIC handle! ...i love my Gerber Downrange Propel Auto i got for just a tick over a hundred bucks & its American Made with G10 Scales (& NO deep carry pocket clip, i HATE deep carry pocket clips!) ...so Hard Pass on Over Priced knives with CHEAP PLASTIC handles, reguardless of what kinda fancy names the attach to it, cheap plastic is cheap plastic, call it what u will... they oughta be ashamed of themselves for charging those insane prices for inferior cheap materials... there again, regardless of the blade materials, the scales are kinda like the tires on ur car... if ur smart, u dont buy "cheap" tires, thats ur one & only point of contact... same thing with knife handle scales... always enjoy ur vids dude, thanx & god bless
Sure g-10 is preferable, but my spyderco Lightweight manix 2 is one of my all time favorite. I don’t mine GRN if it is textured well. Really appreciate the comment and glad you enjoy the content.
@@gideonstactical ...in all fairness, i should specify, "well textured" g10, cause to ur point, they are g10s out there that are slick & some plastics, like spydercos directional patterning, that actually have More Grip than other higher end materials... i just have a irrational lothing burning disdain for "plastics" (haha) ...& honestly, most of these knife companies CAN do better, if folks would hold their feet to the fire so to speak, & refuse to accept overpriced "rock star steel" with a garbage material scale ...thanx again bro
Get you a manix 2 LW, Sage5, Native 5 LW, Para 3 LW and you will understand. Also with spyderco above all other production knife brands.. you are paying for extremely dialed in factory heat treats.. want a knife that performs well as a knife for cutting and not just fidgeting... then buy spyderco and you will be assured an extremely high performance piece of steel.
@@EDCandLace yeah, i get it... & i dont mind paying for quality... in fact as a Master Barber of 33 years experience, im kind of a "steel nerd" & im used to dealing with VERY high end shears, (high end JAPANESE shears, aka scissors, in my world) & i dont mind paying anywhere from $6 to 700 to $1,000 or 1,500 bucks for a quality barbering shear with something like VG10 or ATS314 steel, because i know its a Quality Steel (well treated to ur point earlier) that will last & hold up to the task at hand, but my intention was simply to say that im just sick of seeing these high end companies "cheaping-out" on the handle materials they give us... i appreciate good steel, but theres that whole "tire contact patch" mentality at play still, that where ur hand is spending all of its time, & that matters... i just think that if we are spending large ammounts of our hard earned cash, we should expect "better" from these premium companies in my humble opinion ...& thank u for ur advice & suggestions

I have had a benchmade assisted open for over 10 years now and never had an issue with it; I use it in the woods and swamp in FL.
That is the best explanation of the differences between auto and assisted knives. Personally, I avoid both, but that explanation is spot on!👍🏻👍🏻
Hahaha I am glad you enjoyed it!
Have had my mini for a week and I love it. On a related note, being a loyal customer at your local shop has it's benefits 😉
Awesome!!
You made my mind up for me, today’s carry will be the claymore.
Hahah excellent!
I have 2 the serrated and plain edge that's how much I like this knife it's great for and EDC for me and has held up in my job and on the daily
Thanks for the review, Aaron. I wish manual versions would be offered more routinely for those of us who can't carry autos (that's the only real prohbition here).
Same. It sucks living in Minnesota
I have the Benchmade claymore, carried for years. The spring still almost launches the knife out of your hand
Glad to hear it had held up over the long haul!
I’ve had a grip Griptillian for years and loved it. Looking at an auto opener, specifically the claymore or adamas or cla. How do they compare?
I’m feeling the Tanto
Excellent review!
Thank you!
Please review benchmade meatcrafter. As a hunter, home butcher, and cook it’s stolen my heart ♥️
For EDC Benchmade Claymore or Kershaw Launch 5 ?
Greetings from Poland!

Another thorough review, Aaron. It kinda looked like they were aiming to take out the Gerber 06 Auto before you brought in the Downrange.

I think the 06, I will do a youtube short this week in the two of them.

Aaron, would you be able to revisit the newer architect field buddy 5.5 which now comes in 3v? Would love to hear your thoughts.
I have been thinking of that one!
OMG! What did we ever do when folding knives required 2 hands to open and close?
Thank goodness for all these magical improvements of the 21st Century.
Nice review of these knives. Thanks!
Hahaha for real!!
I'm still struggling between this or the bailout.
Though!! The Bailout will have better wear resistance. The Claymore will have bigger fuller handle.
Awesome video!
Thanks so much Don!
In your opinion what is your favorite benchmade auto?
This is my first, but I am looking forward to a few others!
Thank you
You're welcome
I didn't understand your caffeinated drink analogies.
The AFO II is GOAT, best pocket knife ever.

Should have been made aluminum handles.yes.thete cool 😎 autos I was eyeballing then hard.
Yeah, Lefthanded? That's what I thought.
I'm pretty sure a 'claymore mini' is an incongruous term lol.
It is so wrong to call it a TANTO because of the shape, the shape dosnt make anything a TANTO.
Would love to see your take on that 3d printed titanium handled Magnacut blade DBK just did a video on...
Hogue EX-A01 better steel, g10 and awesome

Not sure about that. I know there is a good performance upgrade in the cpm-D2 and a few bands are starting that way recently.
Colt over a Glock? Okay, Boomer.
Lol...spoken like a youngster that doesn’t know any better...
It was a metaphor for the. Benchmade being built with Glock level materials at a Colt price...

Still like to have one but 200$ plus 🤔
Do Not buy Benchmade claymore 9070bk action sucks for me even after disassembly and reassembly the button sticks before deploy sometimes
I've never seen the use or the need of a mini version of a perfectly good knife. This is one of Benchmade's best designs. Why ruin it?
