Happy to see this. After all, Chris's music will live forever. Living Colour is one of my favourite bands of all times. I whish I was there. Thanks for sharing.
I was right there up front - tears in Vernon's eyes, Corey breaking down at end not to mention the audience participation. Certainly a moment to remember. RIP Chris...
Ah Corey, one of my all time favourite vocalist, definitely underrated, definitely still got it. Saw them in at The Forum in 02 and then again at Soundwaves a few years ago. They still kill it live. Best tribute yet, hard not to shed a tear.
How can you not? We all grief. Something big and incomprehensible happened..! I always liked both their 'mailman / postman' versions from Stain and Soundgarden's Superunknown album.
My goal and mission is to clear Chris's name, he didn't go out like a weak chickenshit pussy, he was taken... I believe that 1. (FACT) the bodyguard admits to walking chris back to his hotel room and "giving chris two Ativans" 2. He admits to being called by chris to come back to his telly room to "fix chriss computer"(which is the bodyguards excuse to be on chriss keyboard because HE is the one who posted the song "By Crooked Steps" and underneath wrote a lyric from the same song which read,"I am the shape of the hole in your heart" and they say that Chris posted this before he hanged himself. 3. I believe Chris trusted this guy enough to let his guard down because if u cant trust somebody who is being paid well to supposedly take a fucking scolding hot bullet for u and possibly die for u then u hired the wrong bodyguard right?? So i believe he crushed 2 or 3 extra Ativan up into a drink that he handed Chris. PLUS remember he ADMITS to handing chris 2 additional ativans that Chris was actually aware of... When he saw that Chris was fucked up, the ex-marine psychopath with trained murder skills strangled Chris in some trained professional manner. Arranged the body in the bathroom to make it look like a suicide by hanging. 4. The wife claims that Chris made a phone call to her slurring his words. I believe this call POSSIBLY was made by the bodyguard on Chriss phone to the wife to let her know it was accomplished. 5. Then the bodyguard admits to being called by the wife to check on Chris and so he kicked in TWO fucking doors to get to him. (WTF wouldnt u run downstairs as fast as possible and tell the front desk its an emergency and to open Chriss room??) In my focused visualization of human behavior in a certain situation like this one I envision 99 times out of 100 the worried party SPRINTING downstairs to the front desk and NOT kicking in the door of a fucking Rock Legends hotel room, risking some embarrassing news story or something. Im just sayin, like what if Chris was in the fucking shower?? He just rocked Detroit an hour earlier. I always shower after a sweaty ass concert. Why wouldnt he?? 6. The autopsy showed 7 broken ribs. Thats pretty fucking excessive for a healthy man to have from CPR. And the bodyguard admits to finding the body(dateline anyone? 48 hours anyone?) on the floor with "blood coming from his mouth". How does something as stretchy as an exercise resistance band cause bleeding from a hanging? How does a 6'2" man physically hang himself from a 6 and a half foot door? His knees would have literally been scraping the ground. He didnt and wouldnt leave his kids with so many unanswered questions. This is a tough loss. I just want to clear Chriss name. He didnt go out like a weak coward. He was stolen from us. This reminds me of when a crazy teenager kills their parents, and in their defense trial they claim the dad/mom was molesting him/her. So the parent not only has their one and only life ripped away, but their everlasting name is fucking smeared through the mud. This shit literally makes me ill. Its mindblowing that Chris had NO real friends who have come out in his defense. Sincerely... FUCK EM ALL. Shame on them... All i know is 90 times out of 100 the person who admits to being the last to see the victim, or the person who finds the body is almost always the killer.. and in this case the bodyguard is both of those.. Im not out to put this guy behind bars... not in the least. They cremated Chris a day before the fucking funeral out of paranoia and guilt. The case is closed. I just somehow need to help clear his name. He didnt murder himself. Period. I just fucking know... many people know. But not enough. Too many people accepted it as a suicide and moved on with their fast paced lives... Anyways sorry for rambling, but i felt compelled to... Again, Chris was stolen from us.. Spread the fucking word people... This is NOT a fucking conspiracy theory, its fucking obvious! Thank u for having eyes to see the truth when something doesnt add up... ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING
I watch this version every year on the 17th of May, just to remember Chris, in the best tribute for him that i saw, from any band. It seems almost otherworldly and so full of emotion. Corey's voice has an ethereal quality in this performance and the band play a huge part in that feeling for me too. Just amazing in every single way. Thanks for uploading this.
Thanks for your comment..I recorded this and realised that it was too good to keep to myself and that others should get the opportunity to enjoy it also..I'm glad I was there!
@@sneakerfreak I've seen them 3 times and they're always amazing. Chris and Corey are two of my favourite singers ever. I never got to see Chris, as Soungarden or AudioSlave didn't play anywhere near where i live, in Wales. And I've been too ill to see them when they played in London or anywhere else in the UK. I feel like Chris would've felt this, wherever he is now. I really hope so. I'm glad you were there too, thanks again.
It's painful but sweet to see how many people immediately honored Chris by covering one of his songs. I swear,I have never and probably never will witness such outpouring love for a person.
Simply Amazing how fast the music world kicked in when Chris passed. It's been 18 months now...just watched the I am The Highway, tribute... Man we lost a once in a lifetime soul.
This is the perfect tune for these guys from a tribute standpoint. That wacky, sophisticated, ever-changing chord progression really suits Vernon’s musical sensibility.
You will not be disappointed. Plus BEST most humble and gracious guys you'll ever meet. Vernon's all-time favorite song is 'The Day I tried To Live' - said of all the songs ever it's the one he wish he'd written himself. Even thanked Soundgarden for the song in his solo album's liner notes.
Been a fan from day one. "Time's up" changed my life. Saw them several times in the last 20 years and they always put up their gear themselves, and make chit chat with the crowd, very nice down to earth people.
It maybe took them a playthrough to get the progression down, but then they really delivered a touching performance... And it truly takes some true fans to chose to cover something other than "Black Hole Sun". Thanks for the upload and thanks to Living Colour.
Woulda killed to be there. You can feel the emotion that Corey felt from the many voices in the crowd. It just hit me right in the middle of my chest and now I can't clear my eyes of tears. RIP Chris. Thanks Living Colour for the beautiful tribute.
It sure did and you could definitely feel the emotion..I kept filming after the song finished as the emotion kept rolling after the song finished as you can see!
One of the all time greatest bands covering another's best compositions. "Nothing will do me in before I do myself" is tragic. LC in AZ May 26. Many thanks for posting.
amazing, I've been watching all tributes, and this one is so emotional, the best so far, man I needed this, thank you from Chicago for putting this up, R. I. P. Chris, iN heaven now, LC rocked!!!!!
seriously grateful to you for uploading this. i keep watching this and keep on choking up and burst into tears. this is the most beautiful tribute for chris i've ever seen.
This is by far the most great and emotional tribute to Chris Cornell i've seen in the past days. Corey Glover is such an amazing performer! Thank you guys for showing and giving that much respect for Chris.
I come back to watch this every so often. I still lose it when Corey does. Amazing tribute by a fantastic band. Have loved Living Colour from the beginning.
Great tribute! Wish he nailed the lyrics, but that's okay, the vocal performance was the real deal. The instrumental was surprisingly on point - did Soundgarden justice for sure.
This is best Chris Cornell tribute. I want to be in the audience! The band and crowd were so into it. God bless you Chris for giving us such emotional music! CHILLS!
Everyday at work, I’m like the DJ... I put a mix of an artist/band and daily is a different genre. Some days will be reggae, others hip hop, rock, latin etc. Mostly older music... One day I put Living Colour and my coworkers were impressed.... I was like, “let me school you a lil bit” .... my favorite Chris Cornell song is “getaway car” with Audioslave
You dont know what you are talking about. Vernon Reid is a HUGE fan of Soundgarden. He posted several tweets praising Chris. The other guys certainly are too.
Wow! Thanx so much for posting this. Thanx to Living Colour for the amazing tribute. Btw, I found this video because Living Colour shared it via the 'Bands in Town' app.

crispytones Out of the thousands who watched it there had to be 6 Trolls who would oppose anything!Glad you enjoyed it!
I was right there up front - tears in Vernon's eyes, Corey breaking down at end not to mention the audience participation. Certainly a moment to remember. RIP Chris...

When he choked up, I completely burst into tears. Awesome way to celebrate Chris!
Understandable! The whole place was full of emotion!
Kirk Angell I did too.
How can you not? We all grief. Something big and incomprehensible happened..!

Yes, Corey still looked as if he was still not able to get back to their set. Hoping Chris can somehow see how many loved him and his music.
