Oh my heart! 😭 Jerry wrote this song for Layne, and now Lily is singing it for her dad. 😭 ❤️
Very nice to see Chris DeGarmo.
Niagara Falls C B. Niagara Falls
Everyone needs an Uncle Jerry
And an uncle Chris! Queensrÿche baby!
But most of all her Dad Chris Cornell.. 😔🙏
Yep!..Operation Mindcrime...See ya Jerry😁😁😁😁
Had one and I miss him.
Gonna tatoo this comment
So glad you kept Susan Silver's introduction in this clip, it makes it Soo much more special.
Seriously, Susan’s intro added so much to the performance, really happy they left it in there.
It definitely does. I had tears during this one for sure . This and Mark Lanegans "Nutshell' turned on the waterworks.
It Really did!!
Yeah, you're damn right !
@@puppetmaster8551 me too she’s a trailblazer. She managed both SG and AIC! and is the mother of Lily.
Susan Silver - a formidable, pioneering businesswoman in a male dominated field, a beautiful soul and an epic mum. Much respect to her.
She’s a legend, extremely important figure in the grunge movement, seems to be a great mom and manager/friend, the AIC guys all love her to death. Absolute legend
I have so much respect for her! She's a role model and an epic woman.
She's an amazing woman.
"Uncle Jerry" 😭😭
Jerry is the fuckin best, that introduction really added to the performance and loved seeing the extra context and the photos of little lily with Jerry/Sean/mike.
I know right!!! Uncle Jerry!!! Crazy uncles, uncle Chris 😭

Susan Silver is not just Cornell's ex wife. She discovered Alice in Chains and she was their manager
She managed AIC AND SOUNDGARDEN AND SCREAMING TREES. What an absolute badass!
She is a class act
Yes she’s a trailblazer.
@@deadstar44 What was amazing about Susan was that she looked out for these guys. When they were looking for a record deal, Susan refused to take money from them until she found them a record contract that didn't screw them over. Not only that, but when Jerry was evicted from his apartment, he lived in Susan and Chris' basement. He wrote Rooster at their house.
Susan Silver discovered AIC, Soundgarden and Nirvana. She was the first to hear the original 7 song demo that would become Never mind and hooked Kurt up with an attorney to protect his intellectual property.
She is definitely a Cornell. Chris Cornell would be so proud of his daughter, I am.
If this was on the Grammy stage it would’ve stolen the show. Damn shame real music has been forgotten.
I'm a grown ass man, and I'm crying my eyes out.
Same here brother.
Me toooooo!!! But I'm a grown ass woman. I started as soon as Susan said "for me" & her voice wavered ever so slightly. Dammit this is amazing. Dad is undoubtedly proud as FUUUUUCK!
Me too my friend!
Same here.
Someone is definitely slices onions.
This hits hard. But i'm sure that Chris and Layne are smiling somewhere out there. She has a lot of same facial expressions with Chris.
Her expressions, nostrils and upper lip area and cheeks are all Cornell especially during their same ages and phases in life. She’s got some of her mama in there too. The girl is built to kill so is her mom and can dance/move with rhythm and time. She’s definitely more than just a pretty face or celebrity child status. She’s earned and learned and overcame beyond her years. That I can definitely relate to. Managing artists for a few years now. Loves to read and self educate as her father did, and mother. Good genes indeed. Not dissing nor comparing her to others either. I despise when ppl set ppl against one another, especially when it’s adults perpetuating that psychological crap on children and teens. Like they don’t already have enough to deal with.
My family used to do that, not my parents, since dad lost his mother at age ten, he understood not to pressure a child too much and mom did as well bc she seen what her elder sister endured with grandmother pushing her to be this and that, but failed to instill some confidence and in my mom. She was a good person , don’t get me wrong but even wonderful ppl are flawed. That’s why we all need God’s Grace, love, mercy, patience and forgiveness, moreover it running over and through us. It keeps the emotions evil uses to destroy and hinder us from our calling and greatness. Moreover, good mental/emotional/physical health bc believe, one affects the other. Oh my fellow peeps the lessons I had to learn and lose by the age of turning 17. I can relate to this beautiful young lady and in high school I so wanted to help those struggling bc I’ll tell you what I’ve learned. No one truly gets what you’ve been through until they’ve experienced it. That’s how you reach others. Not just arm chair or even book repetitions, and no offense to anyone doing good work to help and giving it their all. It’s just that everyone is different, every brain is different and I think that’s where we mess up with addiction and trying to motivate a child by comparing a child already with low self esteem or a product of verbal abuse and slights, it tears them down even more. They develop an apathetic attitude if not very careful and that’s hard to reach and break through. Myself, I was the fighter in every aspect. Ppl that talked and said foolish things and my aunt would tell me bc she k ew it’d light a fire under my arse and I’d prove them wrong. Even though that was my goal for MYSELF anyways. You wanna know a lil secret? Those grown goons that set bad examples for their own children, and talking stuff in front of them they shouldn’t have even been saying anyway let alone kids and teens. None of their kids they raised together graduated. I always valued my reputation, treatment of others but sometimes bc of my undiagnosed ADD, PTSD, and what got labeled as “IBS” but was much more serious, I was my toughest obstacle to overcome bc once I got something in my head, no matter how much my parents and family told me I was beautiful, dressed nicely and had a great fashion sense, still had bouts of low self esteem. Wanted so badly to join in on things but was petrified I’d make a laughing stock of myself when at the other school I’d came up in, I’d ham it up and didn’t care to laugh or make ppl laugh and participate. It’s like my issue came to a head my eighth grade year and worsened my HS years. Imagine having a digestive issue living and commenting 45/50 mins away one way to school, just to get your basic education. You’d be amazed when you’ve got the faith and will and really want something and pray, being God’s from the get-go (dedicated) yes, Chris had his as well, but I hope they lean more towards that wisdom than actions of other’s that don’t or get confused by the actions of hypocritical ppl in any fashion/situation bc they don’t represent God or goodness. But, I’m living proof of the F.O.G. and guiding intuition to go the best paths and what to avoid. Yes, I felt different and had a heart too big for my own good that got hurt bc I noticed and could comprehend more than possible. That’s rough especially around adults that kids understand things better and just trying to explain a situation with another kid to keep them from getting in trouble or myself. My parents allowed me to express that, but teacher’s said I like to talk too much and my “K” teacher said I talked back, but it wasn’t. Just trying to convey properly and not be or have misunderstandings. Yeah, I was a talker and about went mute later, lol.(My texting though, lengthy but probably from holding a lot in IRL, etc.)
Aynsleigh Malayne I love your post. It’s just a shame you couldn’t “manage” it into paragraphs too. 😉
@@aynsleighmalayne3558 why must we lose them
I lost my grandma to cancer in January last year, I'm trying to learn to play guitar, but my left arm is mostly paralyzed, and it's been that way since I was six, now I'm twenty - nine. That makes it very challenging to form chords, but I also sing. but she was one of the closest people to me, as both a child and an adult. I met my girlfriend and told her about her shortly before her passing, we've been together for two years tomorrow, as of me typing this single handedly. I've become pretty good at doing plenty of thing with one hand since my left hand is pretty much only good for gripping things and I can't really move any of the fingers on it individually. I know that the song has a line that says: "Imitations are pale, but when I sing this, being a kid through most of the '90's, I can't help but sing this kind of like how I think Layne Staley would have, as a lifelong Alice in Chains fan, I don't really try to imitate him, my voice naturally channels that sound, like as soon as the song starts, and the vocals kick in. Thank you and God bless you, Jerry Cantrell.
TMI
Like to hear Chris DeGarmo first time since 20 years
As much as I liked Audioslave, I always wished Chris had joined AIC and formed a new band. Jerry’s guitar with Chris’ vocals would have been insane.
Tune.Right turn . We get a feel for what could of been.
@@DaveSstation That’s a great song, isn’t Eddie Vedder in that too?
It Will be the heaven
@@sillynelson1Nope. In addition to Jerry of course, Right Turn features Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, and Mark Arm, from Mudhoney, each taking a verse. Jerry sings the 1st verse, Chris sings 2nd verse, and first chorus, Layne sings the 3rd Verse and 2nd Chorus, Mark Arm sings the bridge and 3rd chorus. For the outro, and extended fade out, all 4 guys sing various parts creating what is called overlapping polyphony.
Overlapping polyphony is when two different vocal parts, instead of following each other in turns, overlap each other. A new vocal line comes in while the previous part has not yet finished. Rinse and repeat.
Wow just to see Chris DeGarmo back on a Guitar means more than some understand.
Queensryche not same without him

Can't get any cooler than that...Having Alice In Chains as your uncles.
I reckon having Chris as Dad is cooler.
@@El-wc5hl Being raised by all the grunge bands in general is the most badass thing
And I suppose she must talk to the pearl Jam guys a lot too...so f*cking cool
@@jacinto1477 It's mentioned somewhere she's close to Eddie Vedder (they did one podcast together too)
@@definitelynosebreather Yes Eddie Vedder has always been like a second father to her.
This is one of the most beatiful songs I will ever know. She looks so much like Chris, it makes me cry. Him and Layne would be so proud!
They are proud
My mom was dying right before my eyes when AIC rose up and released Black Gives Way To Blue. I was immersed in this album while spending the final months with my mom. This song is about that for me. I'm so grateful to Jerry Cantrell. I think All Secrets Known is the last thing I played for her on my guitar...
My condolences, that's a beautiful story :(
I can relate & The meaning for this Song is for me, Sadly The same 💔Your Story...No Words.. Apart from
My Condolences & Hauntingly Beautiful 🙏💕
What a cool son you are. I have much respect for that.
That is very awesome. I know she has to be proud of ya. Easily my favorite song on thst cd. And a true dedication to Layne. Dont follow would be a sweet song for lily to cover
My Condolences ♥️
what an elegant, classy and well spoken introduction.
@ Fuck's sake mate, she mentions Chris, she's milking it, doesn't mention, disrespectful. Give her a break, this is an AIC song.
@ no one is dissing, her being Chris daughter has nothing to do with Alice in Chains. God, you're reaching.
@ it would be disrespectful if she had mention his name. This song doesn't really have anything to do with Chris Cornell. You are reaching
@ Wrong. Cornell wanted a quick divorce and left all his gear.It was his second wife who started the law suits and alienated him from everyone he knew in seattle...look how that turned out. That greek family drained him of his money, his will to live and ruined his legacy.
Suing his bandmates, talking shit on instagram...and oh so desperate for the other daughter to be a star, which aint gonna happen...sorry,but it aint.
Dude hung himself to escape since he knew what that family would do to him had a devorce ensued.
How over, this has nothing to do with lilly singing this song.
Any hoo, thought you should know.ta ta.
A bit of a warped view. She was quite acknowledging & complimentary of Chris Cornells impact to music in the revisit of Hype documentary where she was filmed with Kim talking about Chris after his passing. Watch for yourself: ua-cam.com/video/WDh23Ogf-PM/v-deo.html
This is too relevant to her situation. I can't watch this anymore. I'm tired of crying.
Respect, Lily.
Much Love 💜
Right! I've cried so many tears that they now seem artificial but don't feel that way!
She will be a star. Beautiful voice. Beautiful young lady. R.I.P. Layne. R.I.P. Chris.
Respectfully, I’d actually suggest Lily is already a star. Her Mind Wind Open series on Instagram is excellent and recommended listening/viewing for insightful and open discussions on mental health.

Come back to us, Chris DeGarmo we need you.
What a beautiful intro by Susan Silver to her daughter Lily as she stole the show. Lily is the best of both parents. Beauty, brains and compassion of her Mama and talent and voice like her Papa. Full Circle indeed. 💙💙💙
An amazing performance by Lily and also reminds me what an amazing song writer Jerry is.
Best of both parents? GTFO...Chris was untouchable.
I hear her father so much, in both his children.
I think Chris proved he had brains and compassion. Lily is the best of both her Mom and Dad.
It was absolutely perfect, I cried hard when she says this is one of lifes beautiful full circles.
Beautiful like her Mother and Dad ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
No lie, this here made me cry. Chris DeGarmo is a saint for agreeing to accompany Lily for this one.
what a bummer, after so much waiting wish there was more of Chris?
This was absolutely beautiful. Susan Silver and Chris Cornell raised such a talented woman.
Slow down
The next youngest daughter is awesome as well
@@douglassnodgrass7002 Not Chris'.
Susan raised Lily btw. Chris abandoned her when he had an affair and cheated on Susan with the second wife. Not sure what he was thinking at the time after just coming out of rehab but he is not here to explain. It speaks volumes. Just happy he finally started having Lily back in his life towards the end of his own. What a mess created once he got a hasty divorce and married #2.
She's probably closer to the Vedders than her dad. But I think her mom raised her very well indeed ❤
DeGarmo is legendary
Imagine having Jerry Cantrell and Sean as your uncle? I know she lost her father but she is also blessed to have so many amazing, cool and funny uncles to look after her. What an incredible voice and talent.
She probably looks at will as an uncle too because he joined the band when she was just like 5 yrs old so he’s been around most of her life, you can see it in the picture with her on Will’s back, mike too has been around her entire life. I’m sure Jerry and Sean are the closest tho because they’re very close with Susan and have been since well before Lily was born but I’m sure she considers the whole Band like uncles to her. They’re were probably very proud of her for this performance especially after losing you dad and you know Susan is extremely proud of her daughter. I really hope we get to hear more from, it’s pretty clear she is very talented.
They are not her uncles .
She wouldn't know any different, she was born into it having always been that way, so most of the wow-factor would be taken for granted simply by virtue of not having the loser-ass drunkard, unemployed, wholly untalented uninteresting LOSER of an uncle like, say, myself. Of course I'd be like "fuck yeah!! Jerry Cantrell is my uncle!!" Meanwhile, she's just like, 'oh yeah, uncle Jerry. He plays guitar I think.'
The world needs to hear a whole Lily's album.I hope it happens soon.
Very much agree. Lily is wonderful!
Her daddy may be gone, but this shows he left behind some real beauty in the world, apart from his own music. :')
There is a popular proverb in spanish that says "lo que se hereda no se hurta" which means "what is inherited is not stolen". She honors hers brilliant and good hearted parents and hers brilliant and crazy uncles. Lily is just amazing. What a a future she has.
Jerry is so excellent!!!
Chris Degarmo!!! Great to see you again sir!
Must be on the top 10 induction speeches
She sang that perfect. straight from the soul, no unessecery riffing or effects. That's the best way to sing in my opinion.
They cut it from the stream but afterwards, she picked up the piano and smashed it to the ground
I'm not crying, you're crying.
Lily! She's so beautiful as her Father, our awesome Chris Cornell...
Well, I'm not fighting any tears tonight.
The spirit of Seattle rock is still alive.
That introduction..is bittersweet
Chris DeGarmo is very underrated, he is one of the best guitarist in the history of rock and metal...

He's also a great songwriter. He wrote Silent Lucidity.
@@jordanfarquharson5345 ya he’s a legend, silent lucidity is an all timer. I’d still put Jerry above Chris as a songwriter but Chris is a genius also and an amazing guitarist, just a fantastic musician
He also did some guitar work on degradation trip which kinda makes it more meaningful at least to me that he did this.
He's a fantastic player and song writer. Queensryche was the very first band I ever saw live (opening for Def Leppard).

With all the respect that deserves the Cornell family and most of all Chris Cornell... am i the only who thinks that Lily is the only real person and now real artist of the family? And the only who has the beauty of her father?

(And yes, she looks so much like young Chris from his Ultramegaok days! 🙂)
She even walks like her father
She reminds me of Chris
That introduction killed me inside, I indeed broke.
Would have loved to see the faces of the AIC guys, when she was owning this song. So pretty.
This song made me cry when it was about Layne and it made me cry again just now when it was about Chris.
To anyone who doesn't know, Chris DeGarmo (the man playing guitar) was the lead guitarist of the CLASSIC era of Queensryche and is responsible for writing and playing on all the hits and killer songs that revolutionized a genre of music. Chris from 1982 to 1995 was one of the best guitarists around. He's been out of the limelight since quitting Queensryche in 1997. The band was never the same since.
I saw Chris DeGarmo’s name and clicked like lightning! Being a huge fan of both Queensryche and Alice In Chains over the decades, it’s a pleasure to see the two worlds meet but better still that both Jerry and Chris are known as Uncles to Lilly. DeGarmo’s legacy remains as perfect as it did at Queensryche’s peak, unlike the other members and his departure from music over the last 20 years has just added a fascinating mystery, myth and legend around him. I’m so glad Jerry and Chris have been buddies for ages. Both men are utter gentleman and such fine contributors to the heavier yet melodic arts.
INcase some of you didn't know that Chris DeGarmo became a professional bush pilot in alaska for the last 2 decades + ....
May their souls rest in peace , and God bless you lily
I’m crying. Chis and Layne were two of my favs!

Holy SHIT that made me cry my eyes out. Just lost my father......the introduction was amazing. The song was amazing!
Ya had me at Chris DeGarmo.
Not gunna lie, tears streaming on this one. I could see the ghosts of Layne, Mike, Chris, Kurt, Andrew as well as many members of my own family who've passed on over the years appearing and watching, smiling faintly as the song concludes... then fading back into the void to once again become mere memories.
