This song is actually entirely randomized when you're ingame. It'll play random notes and drone chords, the notes just follow set tones and chords so it doesn't turn dissonant. I love it so much.
After losing a lot of your squad and thinking you won’t survive the boss, all hope is lost. And then you enter a level free of monsters or puzzles or traps even hazards… a break and reassurance that you’ll beat that boss.
I 100% completed Pikmin 2 for the first time today. 51 Days, 3432 Pikmin, 431 lost. 320 in battle, 17 from sunset- would’ve been 0 if they just stopped plucking that nectar weed!! 14 burned, 29 drowned, 0 electrified, 47 blown up, 4 poisoned. Going from Pikmin 3 Wii U to 1 to 2, I felt the series’ drastic yet gradual scale in difficulty. I see why this is the cult classic it is. By endgame, I could really feel myself improving and going insane simultaneously. Only 6 deaths in Dream Den, no resets!! I think I got lucky layouts I look back on 2’s caves as fulfilling journeys & exhausting slogs simultaneously. I’m relieved it’s over now, but looking back, I wish I could experience them all over again. I’m excited to try 4 soon, but I heard they aren’t procedurally generated anymore. I’m sure I’ll still love it, but man. Even though 1’s still my favorite, Pikmin 2 was a real experience
Something about this reminds me of when I was a kid and lived in my childhood home, in bed with my warm coloured night light, especially the "working" theme.. The whole game gives me a sense of childlike nostalgia, maybe it's because it reminds me of when I played outside? I don't know..
I kinda get what you mean, it personally reminds me of that feeling of walking home at 11PM after hanging with friends during summer, the sun beginning to set and the warm, humid air. I miss those days
I remember renting this game at Blockbuster as a kid and eventually one Christmas my parents got me it. This theme and so much of the GameCube era soundtracks just make me feel so nostalgicb
Damn, I really miss those strange caves from Pikmin 2, it hurts. Sure, they were often tedious and went against the core gameplay of the series, but they offered such interesting atmospheres. I'm the kind of person who can stay a good 10 minutes in a specific spot in the game doing nothing, just to listen and feel the ambiance, getting inspired. This game offered me a lot of those small and delectable moments. I truly hope they'll find a way to bring those back in Pikmin 4
@@YellowToad128 Yes ! Looks like they are bringing them back ! We still can't see much of them from the trailer, but the mood felt a bit more generic this time around for me, or it might be just me being picky. I guess we'll see.
Given that caves made a return in 4, I hope we can all agree they don't "go against the core gameplay of the series". To me, they're an indespensible part of the series. You have a challenge (getting through all sublevels) and limited resources (the pikmin you can bring into the cave). If you want to make it to the end and claim all the treasures, you have to strategise and play well. If you're careless and lose too many Pikmin, you won't make it. But if you're cautious, tenacious, and clever, you can make it with minimal losses.
Heres to rest floors coming back for 4! they are so chill and they could do some real beautiful things with them in 4... some may look so beautiful and will hopefully play music similar to this.
Im so glad we can share this moment together. Despite the more dynamic and chaotic tracks and how far back the game is, you made it. And im glad we're here. ^^
a brief glimpse of peace in funny bug hell.

woah that’s actually insane, i can’t believe i’ve never noticed that
The metal sublevel song (graphite gulch) does this too
@@sprucebadger8229for pikmin 4?
All sublevels in the game do this, except for the waterwraith level
and seemingly the giant breadbug theme @@Tique865
Even if it's at the very end of the game, I am so glad that this returned in Pikmin 4.
Early-game, this is a very soothing theme.
Late-game it is simply the calm before the storm.
yeah many pikmins will die in next floor
By the end of the game, rest sublevels stop being havens and start becoming warnings

It's a shame you can only hear the Working variant of this four times in the entire game.
You can kill the spectralids in the Shower Room rest level and have your pikmin carry them back to hear the music from what I remember
The Working variant plays in the Shower Room anyway since there is the leaf treasure to collect.
