Just.. nothing can beat the original Halo CE soundtrack from Marty O'Donnel. There's just something about the original Halo CE ost that the current generation of Halo soundtracks lack.
@AxlFG I believe Marty composed Under Cover of Night while Salvatori composed A Walk in the Woods. Would have to double check, but I recall Marty explaining how it was initially composed.
under cover of night was probably the only track that almost made me shed a tear, until Halo 3's easter egg on high ground map played this, then I freakin sobbed lol Edit: is 2:49 the Roll Call percussion in the background? if so that is a very interesting edit. Great music taste, I'm sure O'Donnel would be proud of this :)
Thanks! Yes, that is Roll Call’s percussion (and later the vocals). Turns out that Under Cover of Night was almost exactly 25% faster than Roll Call (making editing it in much easier). :)
Tbh, it was just trial and error. I kept messing with the tempo until it lined up and it just so happened that UCoN was exactly 25% faster than Roll Call’s speed (making my life so much easier). :P
Fun fact: The beginning melody from “Under Cover of Night” originated from a demo on a synth used by Marty... Look for yourself here (it’s the second one in the video) ua-cam.com/video/pDCNWywoPzY/v-deo.html
Quite interesting! It’s taken from the demo practically 1-1. Granted he ended up doing a lot more with the melody for the rest of the track, but it’s still cool to point out nonetheless. :P
