Speaking as someone who is a fan of arcade racers, I am absolutely loving my time with Victory Heat Rally. It has a vibrant aesthetic, energetic soundtrack, and fun gameplay. It clearly uses SEGA's Power Drift as its foundation, borrows some mechanics from Mario Kart, and even sprinkles in some track design from Sega Rally. Highly recommended!
The aesthetic is timeless, imo, and I definitely do not agree that it leans on nostalgia. It's fun and gorgeous. This is definitely my kind of game. I don't know what else anyone is looking for out of this. I gotta respectfully disagree with some of these points. I was happy to hear a woman reviewing! Thanks for the review.
Playing this game on mobile feels amazing, and I have to agree with you, sir. It seems like she had already made her mind up on what kind of game this was and wasn’t before she reviewed it.
@@tokyo7ball When there's more women or otherwise not bearded, bald, white dudes, we can expect less bigots in the comments. As a bald, bearded white dude, I'm allowed to say that. I play a ton of racers, this one has a feel that is exceptional and clicks. I think the visuals, music, and sound are all great too. I don't think you really wanted to talk about the game though, right?
No gameplay stats? Can you restart campaign races (in case you mess up)? And can the difficulty be changed for Campaign mode? These are 3 main things I look for in every racing game I consider buying. Otherthings; can the music be turned off? How many cars? Is there a turbo/boost ability?
This game LOOKS stunning, highly polished; notably how your screen sways with the intensity of your turn... I love how your car smacks back on to the track after dying... And the fact they've taken the guard rails off! Mario Kart 8 is nearly a snooze-fest to me; there's hardly any punishment for mistakes- the tracks are so wide, novice-friendly, not enough traps or perils..... Last night, for the first time, my father, brother and I played "Cruise'N Blast"- definitely recommend, high-speed slap-stick arcade racer!... I'm comparing "Victory Heat" to "Slipstream" and "Horizon Chase Turbo"... any thoughts on _this_ VS the other two games?
This was a very helpful review. I really appreciated how critical you were over all the game's aspects, though it makes me sad that such a well-reviewed game might not be all that for folks outside the genre. The only thing I wished was different about the review was that there was more direct discussion of the mechanics and car handling--I'm not sure how the drifting works, for example, are there items, etc.?
This has been on my wishlist for a while even tho it just came out, good to see a review even if it's not all that positive. I am one of those ppl who is nostalgic for old style racers, tho after watching this review I may wait till it's a lil more on sale. Looking forward to metal slug tactics.
Here are a few suggestions: * Redout 2 - a VERY fast and challenging racing game that's a cross between F-Zero and WipeOut. * BallisticNG - a faithful WipeOut 3 clone. Has an awesome modding community and a very passionate developer who has a love for the old Playstation 1 Wipeout games. * Pacer - a pretty good WipeOut 2048 clone (it's made by the actual WipeOut game devs). * GRIP - a faithful Rollcage clone * Kartrider Drift - a Korean Mario Kart-like game with interesting drift mechanics * Disney Speedstorm - a Disney themed Mario Kart clone with Overwatch-like ultimate abilities * Sonic Allstars Racing - a Sonic themed kart racing game that's a cross between Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing
Will you be off to the races in Victory Heat Rally? Let us know in the comments below!
If the power doesn't go out when Milton is done with my state, then yes.

Does it allow for Switch gyro steering?

This looks like classic fun with a amazing art style
This looks fun! Love the sense of speed and the art direction.
These colors are tasty.
I wish the game was more "rally." It looks like a solid spring sale pick up game.
So happy this has split screen! As this looks like a good game to play with buddies for a night!
it's certainly one pretty retro racer. love the art style.
I think one of the best charms of this game is how it doesn't use ugly super HD ultra realistic graphics like most modern games do.

I hope this eventually comes out on Xbox! Great review, thank you.
This looks fun - something myself and my 8yr/5yr kiddos would love playing together. Definitely picking up the physical copy 😍
Yes I will get it☺️thanks for the review to temper my expectations (being a raw gem 💎)
This game looks great and I’ll definitely be giving it a try

very wierd i rememebr plaing he demo and it had a full on tutorial, wich helped me be able to play the races well. they removed it?
I love that game so much !!
How tight is the rubber band ai
Oh yeah, the AI i relentless when i played the demo.
The camera tilt seems a bit over the top - the horizon goes 45° 🤢
You can adjust it in the options slider for it, thankfully.
the game lost the super scaler from the first versions?
You can turn it back on in the options.
@@MrRobertDobalina wow nice, i like super scaler much more, thanks
What is a super scaler.
So what's a good racing game that I can play on the Steam Deck? Something arcadey, with weapons... that sounds like fun. Anyone know of anything?

Split Second, the older Disney produced racer is fantastic on the Deck. You'd have to find it via key shops, but it's worth it.

I'm definitely not a fan of the cars having like 3 frames of animation. Kind of kills the fluidity.
