Chris Thile, the mandolinist, is an absolute virtuoso. I've seen him play everything from baroque to jazz to rock and everything in between. I'd highly recommend checking out his current band, Punch Brothers. They mix bluegrass with every genre imaginable and are all incredible musicians.
@geraldh3932 I've seen the Punch Brothers one and the one with Meyer, Duncan and Ma and they were both amazing. I'll have to check out the Nickel Creek one. Thanks for the recommendation.
If you like her voice check out their song Destination - she really kills in that one. Every song they do is pure gold if you ask me. I'm a huge fan for about 20 years or so. Saw them 3 times in 3 states in July 2023 and going to see them again when they go back on tour in the spring of 2024.
I apologize that my sponsored songs do not bring in the views that most of your reactions do. My tastes definitely fall "off the beaten path" of the mainstream. But, I am glad you liked it. I know I fell in love with this song in 2001 and when I saw this live performance, I was stunned at how beautiful their harmonies and instrumentation still sound.
I have loved Nickel Creek since this song was first released. Back in September (5th and 6th, 2023) I finally got the opportunity to see them live at two of their three shows at The Ryman in Nashville. It was two of the most amazing performances I’ve ever seen. They didn’t play this song on September 5, but they played it on September 6 and that night I was blessed to be sitting on the front row. I can’t even describe how amazing that was.
The other two are Sara and Sean Watkins, brother and sister. The three of them have been performing together since 1989. If you enjoy Sara Watkins' voice check out the song Destination. If you really want to see a show, watch a live version of The Fox. You can get an idea of how much of a master Chris Thile is on the mandolin.
I saw Nickel Creek in Denver at the Paramount Theatre about 2 decades ago. It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen and heard. Their musicianship and voices live were just so, so good.
'Take every chance you dare. I'll still be there when you come back down" Love this song. Loved your reaction and analysis. I agree, they did it right. ❤
Chris always has the best hair. Lol. Love everything Nickel Creek put out, but only discovered them because of their collaborations with Glen Phillips from Toad the Wet Sprocket.
I have listened to Nickel Creek for 30 years or so. If you like Sara Watkins, check out the band "I'm with her" you will love it. Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O'Donovan join up for some of the best harmonies ever! Their version of "Crossing muddy waters" is just amazing.
great sound , the hills of California like the Doobie Bros, CCR , the Dead & others from the Bay area ,else ware . Weekend plus long casual parties at the the Doobies . Music in the air , talent everywhere .
I recommend listening to the group I"M WITH HER. Sara from this group plays with two other ladies. Look for a performance of the song "Hanna Hunt" from the show "Live from Here" The harmonies are magical!
I love this song and think this is a great performance, but this is one that does little to show you how talented these three musicians are actually. I would recommend a live performance of the song “strangers“.
It's a bluegrass band formed but children they have slit up and reform every so often to be back the magic Chris Tile and Shaw and Sara Watkins can only do.
Check out some of their stuff when they were much younger. Their harmonies were much better then. They appear so haggard now, and their voices are not what they once were. Great job as always, Magee!

His fourth solo album Deceiver is one of the most unique and diverse albums he’s ever released. It’s one of my all time favorite albums.
Actually, I’m pretty sure most recently he’s been back touring with nickel creek.

You’re correct. Punch Brothers is currently on an indefinite hiatus while Nickel Creek tours.
What a beautiful Americana sound. I could listen all day. Nickel Creek is the best!

They are one of the only country, folk, bluegrass acoustic bands that crossed over to the pop charts. Their videos were played on MTV back in the 90s.

Nah man don’t be sorry this song is amazing
Hey man I'm off the beaten path as well.
another nice one, and probably one of their better known pieces..... A Lighthouse Tale.... some of the harmonies.... wow....
Yeah, I love Nickel Creek, and that Lighthouse song never fails to make me cry lol
@christophermorin9036 Agreed. I love this song, and cry every time.
I love Nickel Creek!
Don't listen to ”Lighthouse” unless you wanna cry though lol.
Lighthouse is an amazing song though!

Green and Grey has always been my favorite song by Nickle Creek.
Just saw them for two nights in a row at the Tennessee Theater and sadly they left that awesome song out. Still two amazing shows though.

My favorite song by them is "The Lighthouse's Tale." It's really amazing, and you should react to it some day.

I highly recommend their song Reasons Why, it's one of my favorite songs of all time :)
I had a ticket to see Nickel Creek at NJPAC in Newark, NJ, but the show was canceled due to scheduling conflicts.
I love this song and think this is a great performance, but this is one that does little to show you how talented these three musicians are actually. I would recommend a live performance of the song “strangers“.

Check out "Sweet Afton" by them
Maggie so sweet ❤ love u so much Maggie ❤
Reasons Why is another one they did that has a similar feel.
I aver 'out of the woods' is the song...
renee, have you heard song called il sogno? you should try it.
Check out “Reasons Why” if you like her voice ….. 😢
How about some Lady Gaga, before Gaga, LIVE, covering a Led Zeppelin song? Really Good.
They look so jet lagged in this but sound amazing as usual
Is that the original members?
