    I suffered the borderline disorder for over 23 years, with so much anxiety not until I came across psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment actually saved my life honestly. 6 years totally clean.
    Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms

    I used this mushroom grow brand as an introduction to growing mushrooms. It was perfect. I then used the spawn after two fruitings to start a 5 gallon bucket. The 5 gallon bucket idea came from you! I love it; the bucket is now fruiting. I used pasteurized shredded paper as substrate, and soaked pistachio shells as air space/bulk in the substrate. I did have surface mold issues at first, until the mycelium took over, which I combatted by spraying several times daily with hydrogen peroxide 3%. Mold doesn't like the oxygen flush, but mycelium does. I actually had invested in a reptile fogger the first of this month; they work great!

    My first experience with mushrooms was from Back to the roots and if I remember correctly they use mostly used coffee grounds as a substrate for oyster mushrooms

    Great video!👏🏽 I wanted to add in case anyone hasn’t considered the value of said ‘chewy stems’ : oyster mushrooms have a wonderful medicinal component, therefore I would recommend drying, grinding to powder, & adding any part to pretty much anything, even capsulating them!😻🍄💞

    I bought one of these a few months ago. It worked extremely well. Since then I divided it up and now have several towers of cultures. They just don't stop. I even tossed stems in a bucket where I keep used coffee grounds. Despite the lack of sterilization, they took over. I gave some 'back to the roots' kits away as gifts, but none of them have had much luck. Keep that humidity up, people.

    • @gb8437

      How did you divide them and what did you use to create these towers? Can you get several harvests from one kit?

      With all the stuff I’ve been ordering from Amazon, I’ve got a bunch of excess cardboard. I ripped up the cardboard, soaked it, and cut it in strips. Then I layered in some oyster stems. Thinking it’ll colonize in ten days or so. How did you feed yours?

    • @790robothead6
      @790robothead6 3 роки тому +1

      @@Chris-vw9nw
      Ripped up cardboard and cornhusks with some 'small animal bedding' made from paper had the fastest colonization for me. Also just plain straw. To get larger fruiting I'd add coffee grounds or birdseed, but then instead of just boiling it, I soak it in a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water because contamination seemed more likely.

    • @790robothead6
      @790robothead6 3 роки тому +4

      From one kit I get two big harvests. After that, just a few mushrooms pop up randomly.
      To divide them I just broke apart some small chunks and layered them in some coffee cans with substrate. I drilled small holes in the cans. Straw or wood shavings seem less likely to get contaminated, but there's not as many nutrients in them. If you add other stuff like seeds or coffee grounds, sterilization is always a good thing. I'd just stack the coffee cans ontop of each other and cover with a plastic bag.

    • @Chris-vw9nw
      @Chris-vw9nw 3 роки тому +3

      790 Robot Head Is it possible to continue the process indefinitely? Like to continue to create viable spawn? From your comments it seems like I’d need to eventually use coffee or seed for nutrition, rather than cardboard or paper...Thanks for your feedback

    I did a lot of humidity testing for in home orchid growing orchids and I'm not convinced a spray bottle will have a significant effect. Once the water evaporates you are back to the ambient humidity, so you are going short wet +long dry. A closed off bathroom/enclosed bath-shower stall humid from a steamy shower spray would be my choice, or maybe a plastic mesh laundry basket or similar mostly covered with damp towels and plastic.

      I've seen other videos (e.g. ua-cam.com/video/Fbm04HJV_H8/v-deo.html) of people breaking up these kits and using them like spawn to grow in larger tubs/buckets. Fungi are pretty hardy and want to grow. It's probably not the most economical way, though. Bags of grain spawn are larger and similar in price, and they don't contain any unnecessary grow medium, since you'll be providing your own. I'd also bet grain spawn ordered from the source is more reliable than box kits sitting on warehouse shelves.

    If there is heat produced by the mushroom, you might want to redesign the fruiting chamber.
    In that case, you have a single vent at the top oer the mushroms and only one row of holes near the bottom of the box. That way the warm air venting will draw in fresh air.

    I just recently grew some yellow oyster mushrooms from a kit that I got from North Spore. I was really surprised at just how quick they grew once they started pinning

      @@FreshCapMushrooms The craziest part is that I grew them on top of my dryer in the laundry room, and now I'm thinking I may want to try some more different types since portobello mushrooms are the only thing available around me

    Thanks for all the helpful info. Just wondering why put holes on the bottom of the fruiting chamber...why not leave bottom solid to keep moisture from staining floor?

      You need the holes under the chamber to let the CO2 escape because it is heavier than the air around it.

    May I ask, what happens if I've followed your steps for my grow kit (elm). It's in the fruiting chamber.
    I don't see any pins forming but the whole block is fully colonized. Help. Able to colonize lots of different varieties but I'm having trouble fruiting ☹️
    Need videos for problematic blocks or what to do videos if your block isn't pinning, please? Thanks

    Can I crumble a kit and add it to 4-6 quart jars of sterilized grain and then have 4-6 quarts of spawn?

    So is a fully colonized block resistant to contamination because the colonized block, and the organism inside, out compete any anaerobic or aerobic organisms... or is it cause there's 'no more nutrients left in the block'? Never heard that so curious! thanks

    What would happen if you take off all the plastic?
    Can it be harvested as you go, or do you have to wait and for the whole bunch?
