Could not have picked a better boarder to test a stiff free ride binding than Mark Fawcett, he's been crushing groomers for a while now. Allways a pleasure to watch him ride.
I strongly agree with the review. I got to ride them at a demo day last season and hands down the most responsive binding yet. My most surprising part about the binding when I rode them was the rachets. I talked to my local rep and he was saying the springs are sealed and lubricated. Definitely going to be my next set of bindings, hands down a show of top of the line binding tech.
I liked these, but the high back dial stuck on mine after my first run. Even the Union demo guys couldn't get it to move. They figured maybe it was frozen.
Mark and Shane come from a generation where ther was a Hard Boot option ( mostly for racing and Big Mountain ) similar to a ski boot - Soft Boots are what we all commonly ride today, no plastic shells!
Im getting a pair for my size 14 feet. Tried a pair on. Way roomier foot bed than my current and last binding. And the large centers, so i don't pull my skrew liners out of my board.
Will this work on a Korua Cafe Racer? Or would the Falcor be the better choice? Do you have any other suggestions for a carving board for riders with big feet (size 13)? Thx 👍
Hi! Body weight and Power will come into play on this decision but 100% this binding is a great choice. Look at the strap differences as that may influence the decision also!
I'm curious how you'd compare the responsiveness to something like the Burton Step-Ons. That's really been my benchmark for performance/responsiveness these days as those are basically instant transmission of force to the edges in my experience.
Actually that middle spine part on the ankle strap isn’t fully connected underneath the buckle and doesn’t provide any support. It comes out on mine. Even while riding. I contacted Union about this and they said that it’s by design…which is dumb. Look at Jones and Flux ankle straps.
The Falcor have a mini disk and the atlas pro have a normal camber disk. Falcor also have a lower flex which is 7. Atlas Pro is a 9. The Falcor is Travis Rice Binding and he is more a freestyle/freeride boarder - so imo the Falcor is more focused for the freestyle type of guy which do tricks in deep powder. If you want to have more response in riding you should go for the atlas pro. I am also looking for a new binding for my Jones Flagship - the inserts for the "freeride mode" only works with normal disks so i will go for the atlas pro. Atlas or Falcor - both are great bindings for freeriders.
There is no more responsive binding than the Burton Step Ons. With that system the boot actually becomes part of the binding when locked in; the heel-to-toe response is immediate.
Got a new setup this year and paired the Atlas Pro with the Mega Merc. Like they were made for each other. I can’t wait to shred this thing!
ugghhh mark's toeside carve in the intro is FREAKING SICK

Just bought these with the capita BSOD, can’t wait to try it out!
That is a killer set up!!
@@Riders_Lounge got them paired up with the new K2 Ortons that came out this December. Don’t know what to do on those slow laps with the gf 😂
if these are the most responsive , then i want a pair for next year. thanks for the review.
What is the riding difference to regular Atlas? Always killer vids 🤙🏽

can you elaborate on the term "soft boot binding" please and thanks.

Great reviews Guy !!!!
Hey Mark, would these pair well with a 2023 protosynthesis?

Agreed, I have 3 pair now for my 3 different boards and the response is off the charts. No strap binding compares...

Would these be too stiff for the new XV?
Better than Flux Xf/Cv?
We can confidently say yes ! 🤘
What are the main differences between the atlas pro vs the falco?
