T.I.N Mateus Just watch Rabea's own review of the DD500. Even he would have picked it over his own Timeline just by the price difference alone. They're practically identical.
Boss have always "held their own" in almost all of their ranges of pedals imo... They are probably the most used pedals by touring and studio pros... especially when it comes to their time based and mod fx
Boss is killing it with the screens! It's basically an easier to use Strymon, and cheaper. One thing I'd be interested to know is, what processors are in each and how they compare.
@Daniel Yeh - Yeah, as a matter of fact I recently caught Sexy Danish Pete romancing my new girlfriend Mary Spender with his charming guitar licks and sexy fingers....but I cant fault him or her cause of his force of nature... =\
This is one of my top 5 fave videos, Cap. You guys were so drawn in by the sounds of this lush unit I wondered how long this video was going to be! Bravo! Best BOSS RV500/MD500 demo yet. Captivating.
I use the Boss DD500. absolutely in love. So thrilled that Boss are taking this direction. I'll be buying both of these over the next year. especially the modulation.
Excellent demo! World class pedals which you could expect no less from BOSS. By the way, great set up at Andertons. The guitars used were both incredibly sounding and beautiful.
One of these day's I'll be sitting here in my bedroom, fully armed, daring ANYONE to tweak a knob on MY pedal board. Sometimes I just want to scream when Capt. reaches........Oh well, it IS his name all over the video after all. Keep up the good work guy's, despite my petty frustrations.
you could certainly build a long pedal board comprising of Boss DD-500 Delay, Boss RV-500 Reverb, Boss MD-500 Modulation & 2 Two Notes Torpedo C.A.B. to give you the power amps and miked speaker emulations in stereo, maybe even throw the Two Notes Le Series Pedals in front ... Le Bass for a bass setup or the Le Clean, Le Crunch & Le Lead for the guitarist, lol \m/
Hey guys! I was wondering if you could make a video talking about cables, connections in general! It makes a huge difference and I would really much appreciate it! Thanks a lot!
guys, you are one of the best, if not the best gear channel on youtube (or the planet!). For gods sake, you deserve an air conditioner there, the guitars also deserve it. If I had the extra cash, I`d send some for you as a gift for making my days much easier with such cool videos, great gear and awesome jams.
looks like ill be selling a few things to reunite my dd500 with its lovely siblings. these are exactly what ive been looking for... the stereo capabilities seal the deal. and thank the lord that they are adding an update for the dd. cant wait for some of these features (hopefully the effects loop)
I'm not a fan of menu diving, but the clear advantage here to Strymon, etc is the display. No dual function button super secret hidden menu stuff to forget. I'm sure there is a big subset of pedal tweakers that will appreciate that.
Hang on, so if you used that insert point functionality to loop in the preamp section of your amp, you could switch the MD-500 between the front and the FX loop on a per patch basis?! That is some slick stuff.
Man! I bought the RV-6 a bit too soon, I really wanted a pre-delay control. I may move up to the RV-500, but digital modulation just doesn't cut it. I have yet to hear a demo of a digital mod pedal, including Mobius, that sounds right, they just don't interact with the amp like analog. Good enough for gigs though.
Does Danish Pete have an album out or play in a band with albums of his glorious music. I will buy now if so. Totally calms the savage beast in me. Oh ya, the pedals were nice too, but oh those progressions and licks...just eargasmic.
How can the RV-500 be setup for mono in to stereo out? I read the RV-500 manual and it doesn't mention that mode. What looks possible is to put a y-splitter on the inputs from a mono source. The unit would create "stereo" via the A/B channel effects.
So I've got an MD500 coming to me... I haven't played it yet. I'm thinking of the routing possibilities and I'm torn. i run dry to two amps and use two separate effects loops for delay and reverb in stereo. what are your opinions on running the modulation in the effects loop stereo vs using the loop function of the md500 to have drive pedals either before or after modulation? this would mean running mono into the front of the amp.
Hey guys! Great video as always, and awesome playing by Pete, you rock man! Just a small problem... the amps sound out of phase. Anyone have got the same impression?
I haven't tried them, but from reading manuals, the MS-3 has some of the same FX, still very powerful but not as tweakable. Also the RV pedals are 96k, 32bit with a dry through. MS-3 is 44.1K, 24bit. So the 500 pedals have a completely different digital converter, the sort of converter that comes in a $50,000 live sound console, where are the MS-3 is more like the digital coverters in your cellphone or stereo
Man, all the Gear Demo guys on UA-cam are sweating right now. Concerning the new BOSS pedals: I really looked forward to a RV-500 but I didn´t dig the sounds. The MD-500 could be a great though. I will try one for sure. How much are they?
James Is In Rainbows I think it's in the gated mode, I'm suprised to not see the famous boss modulated reverb but I'm sure it's in there, like you can add mod to any reverb algorithm or something....sign me up edit: reverse reverb is in the LINEAR mode
In my mind, analog effects always sound better than digital emulations. With certain things, like delay and reverb, you can get really close, but modulation has always stuck out like a sore thumb to me. I was rather unimpressed with the möbius. I'd still be curious to try the md500, but I'm not holding my breath. It sounds alright here, but it's hard to judge without context.
Steven Davies, il you are in the market for these kind of effects, then you can consider to buy the more affordable Boss instead Strymon but if you already have a Strymon, I don't think you will sell it to buy a Boss one. Tell Rabea if he trades in his Strymons for the Boss ones.
Boss is stepping up Strymon Style, and actually holding their own. I'm impressed.
Ritch Percival these are much better than Strymon in my opinion.
Boss has a V.2-software update for DD-500 in september. I think it will be great! :-)
I'm more and more impressed by Pete's playing with every video.
Sexual! He's a sexy man, he is. Uses them fingers for aural pleasure making.
@Daniel Yeh - Yeah, as a matter of fact I recently caught Sexy Danish Pete romancing my new girlfriend Mary Spender with his charming guitar licks and sexy fingers....but I cant fault him or her cause of his force of nature... =\
Just ordered one of these years after this video and this is still relevant.
Two simultaneous modulation! That's very attractive.
Imagine a Tri-Chorus " combined " with a Dimension C ? - Landeau Tone Anyone ?
Boss is a great brand. 98% of the time I plug into one of their pedals, I'm always a little bit surprised how good it sounds.
that intro is just... magical
right??!
This is one of my top 5 fave videos, Cap. You guys were so drawn in by the sounds of this lush unit I wondered how long this video was going to be! Bravo! Best BOSS RV500/MD500 demo yet. Captivating.
I could listen to Danish Pete's playing all day...
They sound great but what's truly fantastic is peters playing, different class
Pete's chord progressions & choices are a work of genius 😍
I use the Boss DD500. absolutely in love. So thrilled that Boss are taking this direction. I'll be buying both of these over the next year. especially the modulation.
Pete's playing is just killing it. Totally sold the MD-500 perfectly!
I've just told my girlfriend I'm leaving her for Danish Pete!
She's upstairs packing my bags 👍🏼
2 guitarists without girlfriends (i'm guessing his wife won't be happy and leave) living together... that's gonna take a big cardboard box.
John Wells great idea! then you could share guitars!
What a gal!
The MD is awesome. Had one for about 2 years and I give it five stars - no - SIX.
Game changers....
Love listening to Pete and the Tele just seems to get better.. Best, Pete.
18:52 that tone is jawcrushing
Holy crap... that is insane, I think I just found my dream intro sound for a song.
DP...my FAVE guitar player/personality at Andertons. Great sounds too.
That sweet sweet tone at the start ugh
Excellent demo! World class pedals which you could expect no less from BOSS. By the way, great set up at Andertons. The guitars used were both incredibly sounding and beautiful.
One of these day's I'll be sitting here in my bedroom, fully armed, daring ANYONE to tweak a knob on MY pedal board.
Sometimes I just want to scream when Capt. reaches........Oh well, it IS his name all over the video after all.
Keep up the good work guy's, despite my petty frustrations.
gorgeous sound, gorgeous playing....GAWWWGEOUS
Danish Pete always does great demos, thanks Lee & Andertons Music \m/

Hey guys! I was wondering if you could make a video talking about cables, connections in general! It makes a huge difference and I would really much appreciate it! Thanks a lot!
ooooh that tele has gotta be one of the best ones I have seen.
Hey guys great video. Especially great playing and haircut from pete.
Sounds awesome,
I have a Boss Tera Echo & I luv it...
Dang you guys got this up quick! love this!!
I just bought a MD500. Thanks for the inspiration Pete. I just wish I had someone to sit and swing the knobs.
guys, you are one of the best, if not the best gear channel on youtube (or the planet!).
For gods sake, you deserve an air conditioner there, the guitars also deserve it.
If I had the extra cash, I`d send some for you as a gift for making my days much easier with such cool videos, great gear and awesome jams.
At the moment in EU no air conditioner can keep up!
oh man, I live on the EU but I come from Rio de Janeiro. If air conditioners fix the issue in Brazil, they will surely be worth the investment in UK.
It's tough to run an AC while recording because the mic tends to pick it up.
Danish Pete and his tele grooves are legendary
looks like ill be selling a few things to reunite my dd500 with its lovely siblings. these are exactly what ive been looking for... the stereo capabilities seal the deal.
and thank the lord that they are adding an update for the dd. cant wait for some of these features (hopefully the effects loop)
Have the DD-500, love it. I was hoping Boss would do this. Pre-Ordered!
I still want to be in a band with Pete.
Bryan get hey man is there anything in the dd500 similar to the ice mode on the timeline and the eventide crystals sound??
Yes. I haven't dug into it properly. But, I have found a few sounds similar to the Ice. With the deep editing I'm sure it's capable.
Bryan nice man thanx for the reply, it's not an often used sound but I gotta have it lol
I wish we could hear this guy's great playing in stereo.
Great playing today!
PEEETE, great playing with the overtone setting. Unfortunatly you triggered my GAS preset!!!
6:35 man, best version of Little Wing I ever did hear!
Pete, I love you, man. For me you are Melody God, real Sound Machine.
Pete is a treat
I'm not a fan of menu diving, but the clear advantage here to Strymon, etc is the display. No dual function button super secret hidden menu stuff to forget. I'm sure there is a big subset of pedal tweakers that will appreciate that.
2 years late comment but Danish Pete cracks me with his jokes. Oh and, very good review and that playing ... man !
On your bike Strymon!! These look the business at a better price point :D
Awesome video!
Great demo. I have the DD500 & Mobius and have to say the boss is much easier to use.
S McClintock its better too. Much more advanced
vv Mako vv - I really like the Mobius but it's a bit awkward to navigate. May trade it for the boss if the sounds are up to it.
I'm just thinking the same. Also never really fallen in love with the mobius sounds although I love the harmonic trem.
Such a lovely player
Hopefully they redo the Shimmer algorithm with the DD-500 update, cuz that Overtone mode on the MD-500 sounds killer
Hang on, so if you used that insert point functionality to loop in the preamp section of your amp, you could switch the MD-500 between the front and the FX loop on a per patch basis?! That is some slick stuff.
That pedal show recently did a möbius vs standalone pedals, would like to see the same with the md500.
If Pete is an "employee" does that mean when Lee fondles his knobs it's musical harassment? Great sounds.
Some great playing here.
Does Danish Pete have an album out or play in a band with albums of his glorious music. I will buy now if so. Totally calms the savage beast in me. Oh ya, the pedals were nice too, but oh those progressions and licks...just eargasmic.
Would you consider a comparison video with the "equivalent" Strymon versions of these pedals?
So what different options are there for the delay? Like what types and what kind of sub divisions are available?
Watch their dd-500 video
How can the RV-500 be setup for mono in to stereo out?
I read the RV-500 manual and it doesn't mention that mode. What looks possible is to put a y-splitter on the inputs from a mono source. The unit would create "stereo" via the A/B channel effects.
JohnnyG you don't have to do al that splitter stuff, the pedal does all that on its own. You can go mono in and stereo out no problem.
Suprise suprise, boss comes out with a better price. BOSS YOU RULE
Great video and playing guys! That telecaster sounds great. Can you provide any info as to its specs? Pickups? Me likey! Thanks.
17:37 👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻
The CE-1 setting sound exactly like a CE-1. Which, considering they made the thing, is fair.
I'm sold on the MD for sure. Does anyone know what amp is being used?
What is causing the distortion sound in the right speaker? Seems to be there even when he is playing clean stuff.
Hi Andertons! Have a question, Does the MS-3 have the Rv-500 and MD-500 effects? I mean MS-3 have 112 effects on it so I am intrigued if that is true!
@captainanderton how does one acquire one of the dope Anderson's shirts like the one on @mrpeterhonore ?
13:20 for some ridiculously close Police/andy summer DEM style flange!...this is mostly for me since I'm a police/dem nut =D
Any idea how the sounds in the ms-3 compare to these (or the delay box which has been out for a while)? Same algorythms?
I haven't tried them, but from reading manuals, the MS-3 has some of the same FX, still very powerful but not as tweakable. Also the RV pedals are 96k, 32bit with a dry through. MS-3 is 44.1K, 24bit. So the 500 pedals have a completely different digital converter, the sort of converter that comes in a $50,000 live sound console, where are the MS-3 is more like the digital coverters in your cellphone or stereo
Holy shit! Ball's in your court, Strymon.
I want a Pete signature tele!!!!
Calling it, next up will MT-500, HM-500, and DS-500.
John Gustafsson
I hope Korg reply with a "Deluxe Miku".
Dudes, i want an RV500 but now I'm looking at a Seymour Duncan Silverlake. Help a brother out. Please do a demo of the silverlake and comparison
i will promise a like and I'll buy one eventually
Do you open the stereo image after you record or is that coming from the MD500?
Idk if the release of these 2 pedals are giving me goosebumps or if it's Pete......hrmmm
what drive pedals did you use with the two pedals?
Looked like a Boss DS-1. I caught a quick glimpse at 10:10 in the video.
Man, all the Gear Demo guys on UA-cam are sweating right now. Concerning the new BOSS pedals: I really looked forward to a RV-500 but I didn´t dig the sounds. The MD-500 could be a great though. I will try one for sure. How much are they?
Robin Taylor maybe 300 like the boss dd500
Pete. You beautiful beautiful man :). Wonderful guitar playing
No reverse reverb? :(
James Is In Rainbows I think it's in the gated mode, I'm suprised to not see the famous boss modulated reverb but I'm sure it's in there, like you can add mod to any reverb algorithm or something....sign me up
edit: reverse reverb is in the LINEAR mode
James Is In Rainbows We all want to be Kevin Shields.
Boss should just release that organ preset as a cheap pedal in it's own right!
what were the chords used at the start?
Something along the lines of A - A/C# - Dmaj7 - G7 with some other cool variations thrown in.
19:10 was quite a happy little accident.
Strymon who?

It's a no brainer. Boss is more powerful, higher quality sound, more intuitive and cheaper.
Higher quality? It's a subjective point of view. More intuitive? Maybe. Cheaper? it's true.
However two great products by Boss.
Good lord Pete
Pete's fingers are magic. If for some reason he gave up guitar he should definitely consider becoming a proctologist.
10:03 RIP Headphone users.
@8:35 the wrong note? Nahhhhh homie...that's jazz (facial expression)
pete's playing though. seriously
Why is it so hot in there? Do you guys not have any air conditioning? Here in Texas it is a necessity! lol
You guys gotta let Danish Pete play a little more often...just sayin'!
I'll spend that much on a reverb pedal when hell freezes over..
Gibson71 Wood i
Option paralysis......
your left wet mix is way quieter than the right side (headphone user)
I think they're using 2 amps, I think they're doing a wet/dry thing.
the effect is in both ears. I think they're just not levelled similar enough.
You're probably right
cool pedals but strymon still has a better name. boss could have done better than number names
OH NO, THAT STUPID TWO FEET BANKING UP AND DOWN
Get an airconditioner ffs there not that expensive. Less than a US Strat!
Perfectly out of phase. Arrgh.
*cough*strymon*cough*
"I'm going to try not to talk much in this video"
half the video is gone and he is still talking...
First!
I have never bought a Boss and been unhappy with what I ended up with.
