Thank you for showing how you brush style your hair section by section (twisting each section to avoid tangling them with the already brushed sections). I am just starting to experiment with brush styling so this is very helpful. Great tutorial video. Thanks!
You have the prettiest hair I have ever seen!! I am just in love with your curl pattern! What a smart idea to use the shine jelly sort of like a curl cream, in between the leave-in conditioner and the gel. I just got the shine cream and the shine gel yesterday and I'm so excited to use them. I haven't decided what sort of curl-defining cream to use with them, and now I wish I had gotten the jelly. Curlsmith products always tend to weigh my super fine hair down, but this collection says it's lightweight, so I hope it works!
FINALLY !! It's the first time I see someone styling on camera and that actually visibly gets their own hair everywhere on their hands and products xD (thanks for leaving that in, I feel seen !) Also, might be a silly question, but I generally view my gel as a way to trap water into my hair, is there any reason you are adding water to your hair after spreading your first gel on them ? Or do you just find it doesn't actually make a big difference ? (I imagine the less hold a gel provides, the less it actually matters, seeing you put a stronger hold gel on top of that, but I'm curious) Also, your results do seem amazing ! It almost makes your hair look more gray because of all the light it's reflecting, it's pretty impressive. Also, I personally prefer when you show the back and actually give a bit of still time to appreciate and really look at the different patterns / definition levels you have there. I can really try and see my patterns in your hair if that's where you see the biggest difference, that's also where I'm going to notice the most what impact is due to your brush styling you do with other products, and what is actually due to the products you showcased. (but that might just be because I follow you on Instagram too, it's just my personal opinion anyway) Also, just noticed, you didn't give any comment on the shampoo and conditioner, did you forget or is there just nothing exceptional to report ?
Thanks for your comment! Because I’m brush styling with the gel I do find I need to keep my hair really wet for the brush to slide through the hair smoothly and make the clumps smooth. I used to not love my results with soaking wet hair but when I’m doing brush styling it works a treat. I absolutely know what you mean about being slower when I show the back, I always mean to but then accidentally rush it. I will try to keep it in mind! The shampoo and conditioner were lovely actually, I really liked them but I got distracted by the styling process and how good the results were 🤣
I just picked up the Curl Smith Fragrance Free Shine Cream at Marshall's last week for $9.99. I know this brand is pretty spendy, so I'm glad I found it at a good deal! 🙂 I'll be trying this out for the first time tomorrow. Btw, it says on back to apply to drenched hair, wouldn't that hold true for any leave in conditioner cream regardless of what brand it is?
What do I think? These products are FANTASTIC, Marisa. Also, I’m learning so much from watching how you handle curly hair. Your curls are perfect; even in the back 😀. BTW, I’m getting SO many compliments on my curls since I’ve started watching your channel.
@@MarisasCurls I just ordered the samples from the Shine collection at Curlsmith and used your discount code. I figure it's the least I could do since you provided such good information. Have a blessed day!
I have been enjoying this line but not enjoying winter hair in general. Looking forward to seeing what it does in the spring and immerse because my winter hair is entirely its own confusing beast!
@@MarisasCurls True! This is only my second year taking care of my hair, and my second winter. I never figured it out last year and I'm doing a little bit better this year but it's still not the hair I have in the summer, spring and fall. Yours always looks amazing! Thanks for all the tips. Your refresh is still my favorite.
Looks gorgeous. I want to try these, but I have yet to make the Curlsmith gels work for me, love everything else. And I wish they had some protein in them as my hair loves protein.
I have all 4 gels and they work ok but I cannot achieve strong hold with them. The best I did was 1,2,3 gel with aqua gel, Flexi jelly and in shower fixer. My hair likes to flash dry with the souffle and in shower fixer if used on soaking wet hair. The coloured gel had good hold but my hair dried out when I used it.
Just tried this line this week. I’m on day 3 and I’m pleasantly surprised. I only used the level 9 gel though. Just a quick refresh with water in the am activates the gel, some scrunching and off I go.
@@MarisasCurls I loved the shampoo, and I was skeptical about the conditioner because it didn’t seem to have much slip, but it gathered my hair together nicely. My waves are holding nicely on Day 3. A little wonky but still okay for work (sometimes, day 3 looks like crazy cat lady)
After using it a few times j would say it’s absolutely on a par with the scalp range, very similar products but of course the shine range is fragrance free
Ty for this demo on brush styling! It is not as confusing as some I have seen as far as where & when to apply the product. Before, during or after the actual brush styling. LOVE me some Curlsmith. If I used the Curlsmith foam while brush styling, would I apply that, style with brush then gel & scrunch? Tia! Blessings!
Hi!! Honestly I have done brush styling in loads of different ways, sometimes adding gel to each section before brushing and sometimes just adding leave in/cream to all my hair and not adding gel until after it’s been brush styled. I find it works well both ways. It depends on how much slip the gel has. If the gel has loads of slip I can apply it and then brush style. If the gel doesn’t have much slip then I apply it after the brush styling 😄 For the foam you could try either way depending on how much slip you feel it gives your hair. You want to brush to slide through really smoothly.
I got one of those spray bottles too. Then I realised I could have used the Febreze Zero ( zero gas ) bottle. 🤣🤣. It’s the exact same thing , if not slightly better !
I agree with you about brushing it up to add more volume to the hair, we would love for you to collaborate with us as we have some exciting products for you to try out. DM us on how we can work together.
Your curl pattern is GREAT. What I do see is also frizz and kinda a dry look at the end. My imagination? Not trying to be critical. Just I am constantly fighting the dry drizzy look of my thick, curly hair which is colored o cover my gray. I SO want to have that shiny moisturized undamaged frizz free look to my hair. DO LIKE NO FRAGRANCE which is hard to get. TYVM for vid.
I would say don’t worry about brush styling if you are new to your curly girl journey 😃 the brush I have is linked in my most recent video. But like I say, maybe that’s something to wait to try until you are a bit more confident in your tori tone
Amazing results! Love this line so much! I had my best wash day in a long time when I tried them too!
Thank you! They really are amazing, can’t wait to use them again

Yes it has a nice gentle lather, not at all stripping but it definitely cleans well
