This was the first band I'd heard play drums and sing like this. Add the guitar - I was hooked. My favorite band ever!! I was 15 then, Now I am 58 and they are still my # 1. I have the vinyl to this day and it's in great condition too!
Seek him here, seek him on the highway Never knowing when he'll appear All await, engine's ticking over Hear the roar as they sense the fear Wheels! A glint of steel and a flash of light! Screams! From a streak of fire as he strikes! Hell bent for leather Black as night, faster than a shadow Crimson flare from a raging sun An exhibition, of sheer precision Yet no one knows from where he comes Fools! Self destruct cannot take that crown Dreams! Crash one by one to the ground There's many who tried to prove that they're faster But they didn't last and they died as they tried
Total waste to get rid of him. They would have put out a lot more quality albums without Dave Holland. The guy had the skill of a 10 year old in his parents garage.
Such foreboding and menacing lyrics and imagery 😮😮😮. Literally, a spectral demon of Vengeance riding a chrome monster 😮😮😮, and taking his victims to the underworld 😮😮😮 ! ! !
One of Priests' best all-time anthems & perennial encore song. What other bands can pack this much punch in under 3 minutes? Not many. Also, which bands were kicking this much ass in the 1970s? Again, not many...JP pretty much ruled the roost back in the day
@@BigSteve9713 not sure what the Offspring have to do with this Priest track...did I miss something here? I'm a fan of Offspring as well but don't understand the context of the comparison to JP here. Care to elaborate?
It was this Album and the Take on the World appearance on Top of the Pops that got my uncle into Judas Priest way back in 1978-79, he also liked AC/DC with Bon Scott but gave up with them after the death of Bon Scott, this music has been with me for 45 years, i was a regular visitor at my gran and Grandads where here lived, he took me to my 1st Judas Priest live concert in 1991,im now aged 51, still blast Priest music on a regular basis, thanks to my mums brother. 🤘Cheers Reggie.
Geez, Tipton's got so many killer, memorable solos, it's impossible to keep track of (but more durin' the 70's-80's, after that his solos were more of a chore to listen to and they all sounded the same), but yeah I don't think there's a high energy Tipton solo that electrifies me the way this solo does.
I started listening to Judas Priest when I was 12 I’m now 46. My neighbourhood friends were like 14 and they introduced me to it among other great bands. 👍🏻
Loved "Running Wild" too. When they toured this album and came to Seattle, they were the opening band ahead of UFO. We were in the Mezzanine at the famous Paramount Theater and we had to get up and walk out on UFO because of the obvious. W O W! What a show! My record store in Olympia WA let me know about up and coming "Unleashed in The East" and I felt bad about hounding him over when will it be coming in. I was obsessed and already playing the hell out of Victim of Changes I have always been a huge fan. Resurrection came at a great time and I really related to it. I'm 62 and that's probably why.
Same here, Unleashed is still one of the greatest live albums of the 70's, I definitely prefer British Steel to SFV, but it's still got some blisterin' tracks on it.
I love Before the Dawn, it's the only Priest ballad that isn't sappy, pretentious, overwrought and overbearingly melancholic (it is a little melancholic, but it's more restrained and has more of a genuine, emotional impact that isn't contrived), that and it has one of the best K.K. solos on it.
Hey looka we all have a fav from the album mate. Rock On mate same age bar 2y younger but a bit nutty when I hear Metal esp.. Priest all time fav band tattoed on my arm, for all to see and know what I'm into musically. Proud and Loud no B/S allowed in my house, just good tunes + times mate. All the best to you and your family looka and Keep Rockin looka.. Dave
LES BINK KILLS THIS GIG...this is how you play DOUBLE BASS DRUMS...you do NOT have to blaze singles on the BD's...just think What Would Les Do? and you will kill your gig.
Ever since that episode on "That '70s Show" came out, I can't unsee that scene of Kitty freaking out in the bathtub at the first 5 second of the songs and laugh when I hear it.
I neved clued in that the lyrics to the theme to Rawhide used the phrase "hellbent for leather". From Blues Brothers to Priest, this youtbe rabbit hole is great.

Les Binks is an amazing drummer. Wish Priest had him record more albums with him.
I love Les Binks' drumming a lot but I also love the Priest albums which they did with Dave Holland and Scott Travis.

I fully agree but The Offspring aren't terrible, not comparing as they are different genres of Rock, but I haven't heard a bad song from either

My mum just shown me Judas Priests music because she listened to him as a kid and I love his songs
When I was a kid in the 90's my parents gave me a bunch of their old tapes. That's how I got into Priest.
If they invent the time machine there will be the 1980’s era with be completely booked from here to a month of Sundays!
