In 1978 I was 11 years old, Waiting for my ordered copy, of this album, to arrive at our small town drug store, after hearing my neighbors copy. My favorite Judas album.
A Priest classic that never gets played enough these days. The chord progression (E to Db) was clever for that period in hard rock. Very underrated rock composers.
These guys were unreal composers. If it was easy to write original catchy rock songs then everyone would be doing it. These guys could do that. They are pretty well the first band to do proper metal songs. And to top it off they could import styles from other genres and make it work. I see people saying this is a step down from Stained Class but I think it takes more talent to make this album.
@@gogoyubari366because shit bands like DnR are exponentially more popular. When priest did what they attempted to do before they ever did. For fucking decades.
My grandmother came to visit me and stopped into a record store and asked what kids were listening to these days ... Thankfully the guy was a metal head and recommended "Hell Bent for Leather" (Which had just been released). I was 8 years old and have been a Priest fan ever since ...
Now just turning 58 listening...I can't imagine what my parents were thinking as this album was blasting, well as blasting as my record player could go out of my bedroom.
Prolly thought-'oh goodness, our sweet little pefect boy is going to start smoking pot, grow his hair long, drop out of school, become a degenerate, get a tattoo and end up in prison. Better keep an eye on him!!!' Judas Priest might have saved your life.
Is it one of those old white plastic cassettes? The clear see-through cassettes seemed to be from the 90's when I was a kid, but I used to get used old white cassettes now and then.
I was at that show . Civic center was cool as hell . I've seen Rush , UFO , Blue Oyster Cult and lots of other bands there . But Priest has to be the best one . Keep on Rockin' in the Region .
There was a period in my life when I was working in Bolt Food - I was responsible for providing food and be sure that customer will be happy at the end of the day . Back to these days, Delivering the Goods was my daily anthem ^.^
A band at the height of their powers - producing something this polished & professional in the studio & whilst doing the titanic Unleashed in the East live.
My father and I have tickets for last year's concert. I hope that it can be made up for quickly to see the MetalGods live. Until then, stay healthy and rock.
First band I knew of to be proud of being Metal and say it. There may have been others, I dunno, but JP caught my attention. Megadeth is doing a cover of this song.
I believe very few realise the importance of this album on the genre of Heavy Metal. Judas Priest had, up until this time produced some incredible work, with mediocre results. Their 1978 release "Stained Class" turned a lot of heads - turned this band into a force to be reckoned with. As a result, Priest was under pressure to present a follow-up to Stained Class that would prove their rightful place in the domain of Metal. Boy - did they deliver! In my humble opinion, "Killing Machine" [Hell Bent For Leather] serves as the most virile - most direction-deciding album Heavy Metal could ever see. Killing Machine hits all the points, nails all the paradigms of what we now call "metal" music". Truth-be-told, EVERY metal band that has risen to popularity since the late 1970s owes a wealth of gratitude to Judas Priest for showing them the formula of how great Heavy Metal should sound like - look like - BE like. ~ Jon Usry

Cheers Judas Priest! We need the Defenders of the Metal Faith to be Delivering The Goods more than EVER!! Happy New Year Judas Priest ! From, the Rockies of Utah.🍻
A lot of bands tried to find a way to poetically say fuck off to existence, but this band is the only one that released music that soared like a middle finger in the sky and a grin that no one will ever really get except Judas Priest.
finally a song for couriers!
The Deliveroo anthem 🚴 😂
I know it wouldn't have fit the aethetic, but Bethesda/Obsidian wasted an opportunity to make this the Fallout New Vegas theme song.

I think this albem is the Kickstarter of modern Metal
actually it’s very “of its era”. 78 / 79 you had Scorpions, Maiden, Rainbow, UFO, Sabbath, Diamond Head, Motörhead all playing music as heavy as this
British heavy metal was huge around this time \m/

Gonna do it again and again
We'll beat you to submission
So you might as well surrender
You do gotta learn your lesson
'Cause there ain't nobody here to defend your heart
Faster, higher
'Til it seems that we're gonna break
Ohh shootin' further, giving more than you're ever gonna take
Weaving with your heads
Crushed out on the floor
Begging for mercy
Be careful or we'll do it some more
