@Ephraim Justin woah took roughly no time and found out ur both bots!
Yes
@@nonexistantman5797 *you’re* both bots.
Agreed. Makes it hard to watch.
.
Yo Brad , it's Alex Waters from high school. We played ball hockey together. I just got into civ 6, and iv been watching all your videos, super informative. Thanks buddy!!
Ayyye Holy Shit! Glad you’re enjoying the videos man. It’s lovely to hear from you 🎉
What is ball hockey?
Yooo thats so cool. What a moment
@@TheTimgta yeah that’s rad
@@davidplatnick6675 ball hockey is hockey except the puck is a ball 😊
I would recommend building / buying 3 slingers before getting the archery tech. Because it’s only 60 gold to upgrade which is a lot cheaper than building / buying an archer and you get the boost for crossbowmen down the line as well
Love the ‘thinking out loud’ parts btw!
Good to hear! They’re the toughest parts to keep in because if I kept them all in everything would take forever! The Livestream is really good for not missing a single thought, but I try to keep the important stuff in for UA-cam Content 🎉
@@VanBradley Hear me out here... Videos, based on the best path to take with technology tree, based on each individual ruler.
Like yea i get there's endless possibilities due to random gens and styles... But maybe they wanna hear what your finesse advises with a hyperfocused dumbed down for dumb dumbs perspective.
I've learned more in the first 5 minutes of this than I have from watching full length beginner guides
Bro he said shit casually that i didn’t even know about. Im gonna binge every win condition victory
@@captainamado for me it was the surplus of food for city to grow and clearing tile for yield before creating a district
new sub and new civ player been checking around for a civ creator i like so glad i stumbled across you, your pacing and ability to fit a lot of good key points in a timly manner is great, i've learned a ton! big thanks!
Glad you’re enjoying the channel! Always happy to help new players enjoy the game 🎉
Potatomcwhiskey
if you ever go pingala, always go the culture promotion first... always, that way you just get more governor titles faster XD and you can always go science with the faster governor title...
The way you say barracks makes me giggle.
same lol
Barrack Obama
Just wanted to comment the correct pronunciation lol: Bear rex 😂
"Ship building" is what gets me laughing. Sounds very close to building something else 😂
I watched your video for only 15 min. and it was enough for me to accomplish domination for the very first time. It definitely speaks volumes. I promise I will watch it in its entirety asap. Thanks!
You're the best! Your culture victory guide changed how I approach the game. I can now win around turn 150-ish on Emperor (I know, still noob). Now I'm trying to win for Domination and you're the first vid on my search. Awesome!
Noob?! Noob! I’m entirely new to the game and can’t win a single one. God I’m watching more UA-cam than playing the game
@@Achilles053 lol i feel this. theres so much different shit u gotta do and keep track of.
just found your page after weeks of searching for adequate civ advice/training. Your page is bound to blow up the video topics are the exactly what I want
I don't think you covered this in any of your vids but it's worth noting that the AI likes you more if you first meet with a scout rather than a military unit. This is really helpful on higher difficulties where the AI always seems to hate you. This adds on to the sending them gifts turn 1. Now in domination you may not care but it is better to declare war rather than have it declared on you before you may be ready.
On the other hand, having war declared _on_ you means you don't incur the warmonger penalty. Though, that might not be too useful when going for the domination victory.
@@verified_tinker1818 on deity though you want to avoid early war, especially if the AI spawns close cause they can just wipe you out with their starting units if you don't have time to build up any units. And you really wanna pump out a second city and stuff before doing that.
Idk if you forgot this or whatever but I don’t think if an archer is on flatland it can shoot over hills. I think the archer has to be on a hill to shoot over hills. And forest idk but there’s rules on that
You're right! In the moment I was just trying to do things quickly and it wasn't very consequential so I didn't really care. But if I had investigated at the time I think you've got it figured out!
LOL this was so funny because early game you're talking about settling closer to your enemy, making a trade route to get a road to their city, etc. Meanwhile, Chandragupta is doing all those things exactly as you're describing.....
Your little tutorials help more than the actual game tutorial
On marathon mode, Liang and her fisheries is great if you’re close to the coast, if you get the pantheon that adds production to coast tiles, even better, it gives you such an early game boost as far as manufacturing military units, to take over capitals early.
Got my first Vic in 156 turns. Great Guide man.Smashing job
Domination is my favourite game mode since Civ 5. Great tutorial man. Gg
What I love is when you are dominating the computer enemy in science for the entirety of the game, and the enemy shows up with higher tech units lmao, or build renaissance wall in one turn, and not show the city is building walls lmao
I completely stalled a civilization just by blocking the path of the settler, it was a narrow area and im guessing the settler was after the iron. I placed my scout in the way and the settler did not settle because he was too close to the existing city. i took over the whole continent, leaving india at 2 cities.
the stuff dreams are made of
Toxic 😂😂
VanBradley: Has noise dampening padding on the wall.
Also VanBradley: Covers the noise dampening padding...
Really appreciate this series !
As Rome (on marathon), you should let the barbarian scouts find you
build two warriors and use them to wipe every barb. they
send at you, do this while building more warriors.
Eventually you have 4-5 warriors with 2 promotions by the time
you can build legions. Long story short, use the barbarians to grow
stronger.
I play on marathon because civ is fun lol but I'm sure this will work on
faster settings.
The problem I have with going for domination on lower difficulties is that the AI barely defends itself. I was able to conquer all 3 civilizations on my continent and in doing so, I only had to kill about 5 units total. By the midgame it's pretty boring and nothing really matters. Generally I'd recommend new players start on prince, get to the point where it seems pretty clear they're gonna win, then just say you won and start another game because do you really wanna play out another few hours to hunt down the other civs when they're not really gonna put up a fight anyway?
I know this is an old video, but when choosing a pantheon - why not go for God of the Forge instead, with 25% boost to building warriors and slinger/archers? That means that you could rush India. Later in the game your cities are likely to be converted to other religions, and then you lose the bonus of the pantheon. Am I making a bad judgement in assessing this?
Glad to see this community staying alive. Wish I could invite you to a CIV IV LAN party!
Any higher difficulty guides? I've recently started playing on emperor. Haven't completed one yet though.
Yeah I also play emperor and can fairly confidently win probably 70% of my games except for Domination, its a real struggle.
Excuse me but you pronounce ‘barracks’ HOW ?! 😂
Love the video thanks !
I'm getting reeeeally into dom games lately having only really given culture and science the college try at deity. Give me that sweet, sweet education Van
This sweet river full of knowledge 🤤
No one noticed how he said barracks?
I'd be really interested to see you do these victories on standard. I followed your culture guide and it helped my game phonominaly. Of coarse it took me until turn 300 though.
I always play to build up big and then turtle while I crank out science and culture so that I become a superpower and play around with buildings wonders etc. I usually only go to war to sorta solidify my empires borders. I am still stuck in the old civ mindset of plopping cities down to stop others from encroaching. I still havent wrapped my head around only doing 5-6 cities only and on top of each other. Plus I usually play on huge or the next one up so i see all this open land and think "my precious".
So much that I don't think about when I play. HA! Thanks for the video. Been struggling holding on to cities.
Not sure if you know and are just mispronouncing it on purpose or not, but barracks is pronounced like "bare-axe."
Great content, by the way. You're easy to listen to in the background while playing my own civ 6 games while still being entertaining. Thanks for the videos!
Well then, I suppose you learn something new everyday! I hadn’t the slightest idea that it was pronounced “Bare-Axe” I shall try to throw it in every once in a while, although it’s hard to change how you pronounce something after so long 😂
Glad you’re enjoying the videos! Really appreciate it 👌
Wrong. It ain't bare, it's bAr - r - axe. Google translate is a good tool, check it out, if you're unsure how something is pronounced.
@@hughmungus7933 bare-axe seems pretty close. I pronounce it Bare-eks ( slight emphasis on B). Maybe that's not quite right, but I am good with it :) Google search says /'ber@ks/, where @ is a placeholder for the "funny" e symbol ( schwa). Which I learned to pronounce as the UH sound. The ' means emphasis. 'e' is probably like in bed. Approximately Berucks? But I hear people staying the first part like bear or bare all the time. Language is not exact and subject to change :)
@@hughmungus7933 so, bar ar acks?
You are a very good teacher. I was terrible getting g beat on prince. Now prince is sooooo easy. Thank you
Gosh when I saw the vid was an hour long, I was hesitant to watch. But I'm 45 minutes deep and it feels like it's been 5 minutes only, love your videos
The pantheon for 25% off early units is handy when playing Rome. Legions are in this category
Great tutorial! Thanks so much from 2023!
If this is the 'next' episode you'll be stuck in an endless loop. This is the 'current' episode.
this really helped my knowledge since civ 6 came out on gamepass :) appreciate it
Great video, barrocks though 😆
I came close to winning a domination victory as Menelik II. I had stopped paying attention and won a diplomatic victory somehow. So, when I want to play domination I disable diplomatic victories.
Question: I notice that I’m always trying to gain amenities in each city. Citizens become unpleased. How do you manage this? Any tips? Love the content btw : )
Get luxury resources brother, if not get entertainment district
Mate, I been playing civ 6 vanilla for about a week or so (couple hours a night) and I was struggling to get my head around all the mechanics, I'm almost 30 now I don't pick shit up so quick lmao.
Anyway I made the mistake of buying all the DLC and now I'm truly fucked.
"Barrocks"
He was the 44th president of the USA.
He was obviously goku's father
27:27 Incredibly poetic that the AI was the first to declare war on you while playing domination strat as Rome. Real "Rome conquered the world in self-defense" shit.
Hi - I'm very late showing up to this video and at about the 4m mark where you are settling Rome. Your options were to work the 1/3/1 tile or the 4/0 honey tile. The honey tile grows the city in 4 turns and then you are working the 1/3/1 with a surplus of 3. I count 8 turns to get to size 3, or on T13 opposed to T16 just working the 1/3/1. Most likely the next minute of your video deals with if the trade is worth it or not.
5m or so - you discussed exactly that.....
10m pantheon - You mentioned either Russia or Chandragupta. Are we able to see from the gossip what pantheon he took?
FYI “Bear-icks”
That threw me off so much...
Borax? Borat? :) Reminds me of a french-canadian instructor I had for some programming class. His pronunciations of some words really threw me off until I got used to his speech.
No build more of those barraks lol
Same lol I was like mortal combat
Don't civs usually execute traders? Or is that traitors? Building encampment on road is something I never thought of, thanks. I wonder if AI is prioritized to build towards a potential enemy before settling a great location like seen in this game?
another very nice tutorial, thanks!
I’m new to civ 6 and I am loving your videos. I was wondering why I don’t get the governors and some of my UI is different. For example when I take over a city the repair is in words and not a bar like yours
They're in the Rise and Fall DLC. If you don't have that, they won't show up.
@@cshairydude sorry peter but its the gathering storm
@@killsteele-5685 Nope, governors are in Rise and Fall. Gathering Storm changes their promotions and gives the Ottomans a unique one.
@@cshairydude well i was mistaken then, thought i saw the flood tile stuff on part of the vid
i very much enjoy listening to your gameplay and tips. nice video adn delivery.
For the whole video I thought that you were saying "We are now going shitbuilding" instead of shipbuilding lmao.
Didn't know you had a youtube i will watch more of your content!
Woah... didn’t expect to see you here
best strat from my experience is early war to get more land than the other turtles. but then stop and dont continue the war path and turtle up. if you have 8 cities to the the other turtles 4 then you play their game you win even though they have a bit of a head start. only flaw is if you get a huge attack right as you transition
Recently started watching u i love was looking for a good civ guy found him thanks
awesome video! very insightful!
Did they improved the AI with dlcs? I’ve played like 6 turns in prince difficulty and None of the other Civs declare surprise war on my, they do denounce me for my warmongering, but not surprise war out of nowhere ( I have the base game )
With bombers and helicopters you can get a domination victory super easy with any country.
Clean the area with the bombers, then bomb the city and go in with your helicopters, then repeat this for each city you want.
Its almost impossible to not manage it this way.
Is my man listening to Adrian Von Ziegler in the background!? Nice pick.
Never knew Tim Dillon did Civ videos. Nice!
I'm new to civ but basically what usually happens is I'm getting invested in some other victory condition and then someone declares war and I go straight domination 😅
I tried to play my own Prince dominiation victory game when I first saw your video:
- I noticed you started conquering cities a lot earlier than I did
- I eliminated civilizations while you didn't
- I ended up with a huge science lead (granted at turn 171, while you had a lead around turn 50)
Honestly his take on rushing legion tech instead of commercials is bad, also attacking with warriors and archers is just dumb, only reason it works is because the AI is even dumber. No matter your win con you must first set your cities up properly, get your main districts up and running and so on, if you spot an easy opportunity to kill an AI, like he did this game, you just go for horses instead of legions(or swordsman) because they are faster to both research and to reach the enemy once you actually produced them.
Civ 6's playstyle doesn't depend on your win condition entirely, it mostly depends on your civ (Ex: Rome is a very versatile civ you can do almost any victory on it, but on a civ like gran colombia you are better off going for a domination victory than a science one provided you don't know how to play the game that well)
Great content! Thanks for the video! You sound like Dexter Holland a bit. XD
At 10:35 what are the icons and numbers on the left side of the map?
Why do this on prince difficulty?
Also, why put a granary as your first move in city 2 when you have pop 1
(New player) Thought this type of victory was going to be more straight forward 😅 I mean the idea is but I could see why this game is so popular with so many different ways to play.
I’m rusty at this game and I do appreciate your tips!!!!
how do you get the cool stats underneath the leaders in the top right? very useful but I don't know how to toggle these
ah. got it! Through options --> interface
@@arcotenklooster2387 Thanks!
Thanks!
im confused. Why didnt he settle on top of the tobacco? that would give him a 2/3/1 settle and 2 1/2 tiles to work
I’m new to the channel and civ what does chop mean?
any videos with deity?
How do you get the menu that tells you how much gold, science, etc other players have? My game doesn't have that feature but maybe thats because I'm playing on settler mode?
Thanks for the video man, this is super helpful
At the start, I found La Venta and Yerevan.
Just wanted to say it because I thought it was peculiar.
Great video! I learned a lot.
Will you do the hit it and quit it challenge. It's when you click the last civic and tech. Then never touch the trees again.
Not only have I accepted your challenge! I will stream it tonight 🎉🎉
Cool idea thats for sure
I’ve played this for years and automatically made builders none stop and built things as I thought that’s what you was supposed to do, wow
same! And here I thought I had some sort of understanding of what I was doing lmaoo
As a new player this was quite helpful
will you cover the hidden secret victory condition known as elimination? haha also your start location is perfect, lucky you
Problem is your playing on Prince level. I don't know as the strategies would be the same on Deity.
What's the mod you have that shows the leaders levels?
Gotta build those Barrack Obama’s
how is your production cost for units so low at the beginning of the game?
I'm still learning the game but my first Dom victory I went for I went to war with Monty. I remember having Bombards and they were doing NOTHING to his city walls and I have no clue why. They literally were doing no damage at all so IDK if it was a bug or what but cost me the war. And I just rushed out so many units and was in the negative with gold, had no good science or culture production to get markets and trade routs out and lost the game
Montezuma may have had a very powerful city. Every unpillaged district a city has actually adds 3 strength the the city. And walls add a heck of a lot. Garrisoned units in the city add to the defense even more and certain policies or the governor Victor can make cities even more powerful. A technological disadvantage also really hinders your effectiveness
Is the scorecard on the top right a mod? Thank u
It's just a function of the game! If you head to settings, interface, "show yields in HUD ribbon, and then click "always show" they shall stay there forever!
i have the game on ps is there any way to change it to pc without paying anything?
I got this game for switch, love it so far. But watching this lol is it even the same game? I gotta go back to the tutorial I guess, haven't seen all these features yet
man i duuno how u get such good starting positions, ive played with abundant resources and legendary start and i restart like 15 times before i get a meh starting position?
Hmmm
Tried it out (new to Civ): had an emergency session called once I took the city....and got collapsed on by city states (all levied!!) and 4 countries.... Needless to say, I lost :P
how do you see all the statistics at the top right
Could you do one of these for Norway? I'm still new to the game and wanna see how to go about a Dom victory for norway
its strange .. before the chop the trader was 2 turns away .. after the chop is only 1 turn away...
i don’t know why, when i play this game takes me 16 hours to finish and it always ends up domination
What difficulty is he playing it on?
Is this diety? How can other civs have 8 Science PT only by turn 75? Is this normal or rather lucky?
Can you win a China dominant game ?
I liked your video, which is fine.
Would I be able to use this for the base game
What's a barocks...?
You know, the ex-president
How do you make it so the production and food show on every tile all the time?
