- In this theory i go over the Thousand Sunny's connection with Kuma, the process of ships coming alive through klaubaterman, and how sunny is destined to eat Kuma's devil fruit. This also presents multiple interesting possibilities for the straw hats future journey in the new world. Hope you all enjoy the video!

Another reason the Sunny wouldn't sink is because the curse doesn't cause you to sink, it causes you to not be able to move of your own will. The ship does not move of its own will and is bouyant, meaning that it is unnaffected.

I can see luffy sitting on the sunny holding the fruit while the crew argues who should or shouldn’t eat the fruit and luffy hands it to the sunny and it eats it leaving the crew shocked 😂

The part where you talk about the Sunny and Kuma blows my mind. Kuma spent 2 years with the Sunny and that part is so easy to overlook, but it makes so much sense. I thought the Sunny would get a devil fruit here, but the connection to Kuma makes so much sense that I feel like I have to believe it now.
Your equation for explaining how an inanimate object becomes a living being , is like the perfect equation for explaining how a writer can make an inanimate object become an important character . Which fits perfectly with One Piece as a whole and is exactly what Oda did .
Give it shared experience , memories , and we establish a connection . One Piece gets us to empathize with other people, all races , good guys, bad guys , even objects .
If Oda doesn’t go down as one of the GREATEST authors of all time that is a total disgrace .

The paw paw fruit is also probably connected to cats based on the origins of 'alabasta and the poneglyphs', and the sunny happens to be a cat ship.

I can just picture the Sunny doing its own Coup de Burst through the Paw Paw fruit. And to your point about the Adam Tree spawning non cursed devil fruits, that could explain the weird non-devil fruit abilities we’ve seen characters demonstrate in the story like Paulie’s Rope Action and Miss Goldenweek’s Color Traps.
I always assumed that rope action was just skill. But golden week and jango got some type of magic for sure

Actually, the vivre cards and re-releases of chapters (via volumes and the official colonization) confirms that all these powers y'all have mentioned so far as Devil Fruits. A good example of an unexplained power is Hawkins' card magic, as it seems unrelated to his fruit; unless you want to say that the fruit's dream is voodoo via straw.

if the sunny is the last member, then the numbers would also come to fruition. Luffy is gomu 5-6, then Robin is hana (8-7), chopper is hito (1-10) brook is yomi (4-3) so the numbers that are missing are the 2-9, so kuma's nikyu (2-9) would be the best. Unless Luffy, that is nikka (2-9) replaces the 5-6, which then 5-6 should be Enel's Goro or someone with a fruit of those numbers wordplay

i do think that the sunny would float with a devilfruit, but not because of the reason he gives, its a great idea tho i have to give you that like what you said. devil fruits have a soul or devil like thing hence the name, thats why the sun god nika fruit was able to escape from the government for so long, that means that the adam tree would have qualities making it able to float NOT because the adam and eve trees because if they grew on 2 trees lets face it, the government would hoard those things like crazy and execute everyone near those trees.

Something that isn’t talked about that is considered canon about Sunny’s soul more especially we’ve seen Sunny’s physical form in film red. in film red, when they explained that everyone is trapped in the dream, the sunny was trapped in the dream, but not in the ship form, but as an actual character. No other shop was in that dream but sunny.

An object starts with a body. Through memory it gains a spirit. This process is emblematic of a lot of yokai in Japanese myth. Devil fruits seem to have a mind of their own. So what if giving a devil fruit to an object with a spirit completes the trinity of mind, body, and soul, creating a living being?

I thought that sunny is a hidden hint of oda for the Sun God Nika, but that it has its own devil fruit is crazy, crazy awesome. Makes so much sense in multiple ways. Thanks for sharing

@Middleway another thing to note about when Kuma was defending the sunny, Kuma was carrying a Bible. Just another tie in with the Adam and Eve trees.

If your theory about the tree is correct, that might also explain why Blackbeard has two devil fruits- they might not be cursed to have the user explode upon eating them.
Also it's probably not considered canon but I'm pretty sure there was a Klabautermon for Sunny in the Episode Of Merry film.
Given the wordplay on devil fruits, as some have already mentioned, It'd fit in
Luffy, Gomu gomu = 5 6
Robin, Hana hana = 8 7
Chopper, Hito Hito = 1 10
Brook, Yomi yomi = 4 3
Sunny, Nikyu Nikyu = 2 9
However, since the sum of them all is 56 + 87 + 110 + 43 + 29 = 325 (San Ni Go -> Sunny Go from "Sauzando Sanī-gō"), Sunny seems to be itself the sum of the crew. So my bet is that Kuma's Devil Fruit would go to Franky, as it would fit the wordplay AND give sunny the ability to travel faster across the seas, since Franky is its maker.
When luffy offered Franky ace's devil fruit, Franky declined because he doesn't wanna lose his ability to swim. I'm not saying that it wouldn't happen...
I believe film red confirmed that the sunny is already like the merry and has a spirit. When turning souls into the dream world, the sunny vanishes and becomes a little chibi spirit

One thing to note is Kuma losing his soul and Sunny gaining one at the same time is beautiful balanced story telling, him inheriting his fruit would be icing on the cake.
Another well written theory! I am still heavily inclined towards the possibility of Queen Lili having had the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, which greatly increases the chances of Vivi getting this devil fruit since it fits the narrative like a glove.

I love this theory. I always wondered how Straw Hats will backtrack to Mary Geoise which is almost on the opposite side of the planet from Laugh Tale. I thought One Piece is a teleporter or spaceship because of this, but teleporting ship could work as well.

I've been thinking about this and im glad someone created a theory for this.
Sunny will be talking ship soon, and he will be able to teleport...this is one way to still have Paw Paw fruit but not make it overpowered.
A teleporting ship is necessary for the Strawhats, especially in the final war were they need to gather every ally from all over the world...also I suspect that the entrance to Raftel requires a special manuevering and Paw Paw teleportation will help with that

Why does everyone believe the paw paw fruit is going to appear where the current owner dies? If kuma dies on egghead, i believe there is little to no chance the fruit appears on that island.

I love this theory! I dont fully agree though because i feel as though the crew wouldnt necessarily be "sailing the seas" anymore. I love that it would speed things up and allow for some really cool possibilities but at the same time it feels really strong, almost too strong. The main problem I see is that a devil fruit ruins the ability to swim, which is a no-go for a ship.
Unless it's the Klabautermann that eats it, a spirit rather than the ship. But can manipulate anything on the ship at any time.

The reason it won't sink is because it has the ability to repel anything so it'll just float above water while repelling the sea
So maybe I'm not there yet, at only 10:36, but another thing to take into account is that One Piece mirrors itself between Paradise and the New World.
We're at, essentially, the Sabaody Archipelago part of the New World.
The Straw Hats will get sent out of Egg Head via Kuma, or your theory, at the end.
And at this point, I've found it to be a pretty solid listen at the very least, and it'd be fun to see your theory be real cause it's silly yet deep.
The only hole to this theory is that it requires the Paw Paw Fruit to be a secret Zoan type. Since there is no example of Paramecia being imbued to an inanimate object. Zoan also has the benefit of giving Sunny a true sentience which would allow it to move according its own will
Not really, he mentioned that its not really the ship thats consuming the devil fruit but the klabautermann, so theres already somewhat of a sentient being
well kuma human was well human but after eating the fruit he didn't just get paw but also panda ears. So it could be a zoan pand model or something like that.

I think you might be on to something! I heard someone saying that the straw hats might leave egg head very soon and will "somehow" reach Elbaf for the final arc since we likely reaching the end pretty soon (< 200 chapters) and this would be a crazy fitting way for Oda do achieve that. That would also mean that we were one member short all this time, meaning number 10 was actually number 5

for the questin of "wpuldn't the sunny sink" i thik that very simply devil fruit users lose the ability to swim, but boats don't swim. they float, and its because of the force of archimedes. so it would be against the laws of physics that boats that previously float eat a devil fruit and sink.

I thought that it was confirmed that things could only eat zoan fruits? Also how would the sunny use this ability? I think it's very likely that either vivi or a straw hat gets the paw paw fruit but idk about the sunny
One thing that could potentially occur is that the ship could use green blood instead of cola as fuel to replicate devil fruit abilities as certain weapons, so for example it could use a coup de burst but it uses the paw-paw fruit instead of cola.

whats funny right now is there's enought resources coincidentally on the story for making this happen: Kuma's really close to the ship & the team has a VP to actually give the fruit to the Sunny & coat it with that special hard VP bubble. However we don't know how difficult is to have an object consume a DF, as it looks by far seems rare, we only know of just a few examples...

I don't think it will happen, but I can't reject the idea entirely, and if it does happen, I'd lose my shit, and even before letting you cook the entire premise of a ship either in the past or now having the Nikyu and being able to go anywhere and also make anything it touches go anywhere else in the world is just a mind blowing idea.
Nice theory, I remember in early dressrosa when we knew that doffy had the mera mera fruit, thinking that the sunny was gonna eat the fruit it was perfect for a fire sunny, but then sabo came along, I think now is even more possible, about the sinking theory, it can be that the sunny just repel water and never fully submerge in seawater so it shouldn't sink.

I really love this theory but the one issue I have with it is the thousand sunny being able to go light speed, I honestly feel that would take away from the story since it’s all about pirates and sailing the seas but very good idea and I would love to see it come true, I also don’t really know how I feel about non cursed devil fruits since we haven’t seen any or have been given hints that there’s such a thing

It all makes sense and I hope it comes to fruition, but you negate the fact that white beards ship came from under water like an actual whale during marine ford. It’s actually plausible and since 1000 sunny was brought to life during red, if nothing else comes from the movie, it’s that the sunny has a soul since he interacted with the crew as a little lion. I hope oda takes this idea and runs with it because it would be a fantastic story addition! The ship of a Yonko would have to match its captain in fierceness! 1000 mph sunny gets MY vote!

Technically blackbeard had a strong connection with whitebeard, so there's definitely a connection with connection affecting the will of the devil fruit. Ooh, maybe that's why blackbeard joined whitebeards crew. It was to connect with the crewmates first and foremost, cause he knew the trick as well.
it’s a decent theory but the sunny will not eat Kuma’s devil fruit Vivi will because she is the descendant of Princess Lili and Lili was the previous user of this devil fruit.

@@Middleway101vegapunk wouldn't let anything kill s-bear. It's not a bad theory but you have to understand that would honestly make the story boring, the struggle is what molds the crew and the ship. That's what people fell in love with the struggle the determination, the strawhats would be to over powered if the sunny had the paw paw fruit. The sunny can already do things no other ship can do: high speed get away, fly, store large vehicles, fight battles against ship 3x its size . Not a bad theory but the crew would be to over powered being able to essentially teleport out of bad situations that they could otherwise overcome with thier own abilities. Nah man that sound like that terrible power ranger series that just came out 2023. That wouldn't be a fun story.

in the anime the sunny has a klaubaterman sitting in the sails smiling at the crew and then ussop turns around cause he feels the presence of something watching them
if you look at the two examples of objects eating a devil fruit, i doubt the gun or the sword gains sentience before eating the fruit. Swords do gain sentience but i don’t Spandam’s sword would as that seems to be a very high tier sword ability. its a great idea a ship could eat a devil fruit, but i think it’d make more sense if the curse did apply. Certainly a ship with the paw paw fruit could simply levitate at all times and never sink into the sea, a flying fruit would work well too. another interesting idea would be for a final land invasion giving the sunny a fruit which gives it the ability to go onto land and tons of fire power for the trade off of never sailing the seas again. i think the paw paw is thematically wrong for a ship. the paw paw is akin to christ taking the suffering and sin from other and bearing that himself. a ship can’t really take someone’s suffering and experience that suffering itself and have that theme work

with that power sunny might be able to transport The StrawHat Grand Fleet too when needed maybe in the final battle or some war that is coming in future
you left out that when luffy started out he was quoted as wanting 10 members in his crew but right now it seams there are 9. and we all forgot that the whole crew sees the ship as one of thier own so this makes compleat sense so luffy dose indeed have his 10 member crew and if the sunny eats the paw.paw fruit that would indeed compleat odas number theory
