XP Deus II (2) - Pairing and unpairing the MI6 Pinpointer tutorial

- When I first got the Deus 2 I paired MI6 pinpointer. This is a full run through of how to do it and what can be changed in the menu if you do, to improve your hunt. It can be a bit confusing, but well worth it.
We were lucky enough to get a XP Deus 2 on launch day! We paid full price, and over the next few weeks we'll be going through things that we like, dislike and tips to make your detecting easier and more fun. Stay tuned to see more.

Along with many other MI-6 users, I've been plagued with intermittent connectivity issues between the pinpointer and remote while out in the field. I switch it on and one time in ten it fails to connect. XP say the issue has been resolved through a firmware fix in version V1.04.03, although I've heard not everyone has seen an improvement. The firmware in the MI-6 cannot be updated via the website or at home, it has to be done at an authorised XP service centre. I understand there should be no cost for this if the unit is still under warranty. You can only check your firmware version during the pairing process as it appears on the screen at the point of pairing for a few seconds when it connects, so you must first unpair then pair it again to see it. I bought mine in December 2022 and the firmware V1.04.02. I'm sending it off to be updated today...fingers crossed it works for me!
Hiya, yes you're not the first person who's told me about this. I personally haven't had any issue, but I very rarely pair the head unit and probe.

Hello, I have the same problem now. Tell me please, what was a result of your experience? Did a version V1.04.03 of firmware solve the problem?
I've never really had that issue with any update, but then I rarely connect it to the remote. Sorry I can't help. It might be worth a message on the Deus 2 users Facebook page. 👍🏻🤞
The dealr firmwware update did not resolve the problem. My workaround is to test the pointed on my spade each time I switch it on by pointing it at my spade. There is a two year guarantee so i wonder whether it would be worth sreturning it for an exchange as some people don;t have any issues with theirs? @@PersoNaLaLaLa

Do you not get the option of vibrate and audio once paired?
I used my MI6 for the second time today paired with my D2 and found that it has a lot less depth then my garret carrot when finding a target in the hole, you need to almost be touching it for any audio?
Yes you can, the vibrate is really good though. I never pair my pinpointer with the remote. I have heard that before, but I never experienced it. You can play with the sensitivity once you're linked. Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍

probably better just doing the 7 presses rather than unpairing so when you do the 7 press pinpoint option it will be paired automaticlly
Hi. Was the first part of you pairing the MI-6 necessary? The part where you turned the pinpointer on, held it for 3 seconds, and then pushed 7 times. I just went to pairing on the RC and then held down the MI-6 for 8 seconds and it was paired.
It was at the time, so not sure if they've changed it since January 👍☺️
@@GRIFFINds Thanks for your prompt reply! It must've changed as you only need to go into pinpointer pairing mode on the RC and then hold the MI-6 button down for 8 seconds to pair the two. Keep up the good work as your videos are really helpful! 👍🏻

Do you have to pair it every time?
No, you shouldn't. You will need to do it normally if you do an update. There have been issues in the past with connectivity, but I think they are mostly sorted now. Thank you for watching and supporting our channel. 👍⭐🌟😊
