Great job, just needs an update.
My husband, Ronnie Wilson, was the founder of the Gap Band. Ronnie created the band while still a senior in high school in Tulsa Oklahoma, in the late “60’s”. He was a genius, he was gifted, and he was a fair man. Greed, can, and will destroy a family, or a business. Charlie’s manager, is full of Greed.
Ronnie passed away, on Nov. 2, 2021, and Charlie never even came to visit his brother, during his illness. That should tell you a lot. Being blessed, as Charlie is always harping, and is very true, but he has to learn how to bless others. Rest well dear husband. I loved you, unconditionally…🙏🏽❤️

That's heartbreaking.....I'm sure your Ronnie is keeping things real in Heaven, you'll see him again.
I'm a 67 yr old that not only sold The Gap Band LP;s at the Tulsa Peaches Records & Tapes store, we danced our a$$es off at the discos cuz the Tulsa clubs played them a LOT. We were as proud of them as we were Leon. 🎩
If the Church Studio walls could talk, I hope yo'u've ventured down there to see it.
This is one of my fav videos of Leon & the Gap Band.....RIP Ronnie & Robert. Gap Band funk still lives on. 🎵🎶🎵

He was a bad bass player I love his jam on Shake your dad and Uncles are my music idols I didn't know you were his daughter I always see Latina Wilson and Ronnie Wilson's sons I never saw Charlie Wilson's kids( if he has any) HUMPIN is what made me ❤️ The Gap Band in 1980 as 8 year old boy your dad was FUNKY on Gash gash gash Gap Band 1V made the iconic peak in 1982 in interviews in the 80s your dad and Charlie had a good sense of humor if I had a voice like your Uncle I have it made back in the day I knew he Idolized Stevie Wonder 👓 and Stevie Wonder admires your Uncle I love the calloboration he did with your uncle Ronnie on I ain't gonna stand for it in 1980 with Stevie Wonder but I didn't see your dad name on the credit but Stevie got with your family on Someday in 1983 on MLK dedication . But the Last album I stopped at was I'm gonna git you Sucka soundtrack in 1988 funny movie I appreciate Keenan ivory Wayans giving your family a slight comeback after their riff with Lonnie Simmons R .I. P Oliver Scott spoke highly of your dad bass playing he's my favorite Member outside your family He wrote ❤️ ballads on 111 my favorite is NOTHING COMES TO SLEEPERS 👌if I'm ever depressed or cleaning 🏠 your family comes first then Stevie Wonder bless you and your family 🙏 TGB years 1974-1988 FUNKY FAMILY

@ Robin...I LOVE your dad and his group! My daddy used to play them when I was a lil girl and unfortunately he left me and my mother when I was 7 y/o, so I’d listen to their music and that’s how I’d connect with my daddy. He died in 2010 and even now I have my days where I’ll play the GB and just cry. My deepest condolences to the lost of your dad...sometimes us fans forget that famous people are real people with real families and real lives, so I am truly sorry for your loss first and foremost.

Robert Wilson by far is one of the most underrated Bass players of all time. I've been saying this for years. I'm a old school funk drummer and if you study Robert Wilson's body if work you'll be so amazed. If you pick apart their song "Shake" Robert Wilson takes us on a musical journey unheard of. Just funk on another level in my humble opinion. What an incredible talent. Truly missed.

I love my heavy-metal and hard rock, but as goes with so many other things, I grew up through the 70s and 80s, allowing me to experience and appreciate many genres of music. YOU DROPPED A BOMB ON ME is one of my favorite songs of all time. You can’t help but feel that song. That’s what music is to me, if it makes me feel, then it doesn’t matter what it is, I like it.

True Fan. I must have seen Gap Band live in concert about 3 times over my many years and 2 times at Charlies concerts. Their hit songs never grow old. I truly admire those performers who can always bring it on no matter what generation. When they leave the stage you are still dancing. They are true entertainers. Have you seen Charlie lately? The energy level on stage is phenomenal. Concerts to always remember in my life time....... James Brown, Tina Turner, Earth Wind and Fire, Parliament-Funkadelic, Jacksons, Prince, Beyonce, Charlie Wilson.... and the Gap Band!

Jemia Midget why was it so important that he pronounced it correctly? It’s not like he’s going to do the clip over, it’s not even like you will be able to be in his presence so he can hear the way you sant him to pronounce it. Are you looking for an apology? God mad us all different, if we were same...I’m Just Saying... but you don’t have to respond... It would be like beating a dead horses. I do wish you peace.

@@Daniweb1971 it is important for several reasons. 1. He has done an outstanding job and you never know what exec is watching. This may be a viable career for him and it is important that they know he does things with excellence. 2. Tulsa is the home of Black Wallstreet which was located between Greenwood, Archer and Pine (GAP). That is important history. 3. It would be a shame if he went around for the rest of his life mispronouncing that word. It wasn't about dialect. He just didn't know. And as a Tulsan, I respectfully let him know because I'm sure he is going to continue to excel and be successful. Those are my reasons. I am proud of this young black man. And at my age, it is my duty to encourage him and correct things. I expect that he will one day be in a board room full of investors. Why would I not help the young man be prepared for that. Pronounciation is extremely important in journalism or any form of careers predicated on speaking. It can make or break your career. Believe that. I mean him all good and no harm. I hope this helps you understand 😊

First off I have to say great job on this documentary. Also I’d like to point out that aside from the 2 songs you mentioned from the album Road Trip , there was one more song that deserves to mentioned. That song is called Wednesday Lover, which was covered by Jagged Edge on their debut album, A Jagged Era. It may not be as big a hit as the 2 songs mentioned earlier, but it was all over the radio at the time that album came out. Once again, great job.👍🏾
