I watched a documentary of the dark side of Tony Toni Tone with the three members they kicked out the group. It was so heartless the way they did it. These guys were supposed to be their childhood friends. Tony Toni Tone is still one of my favorite groups.
One of the best "live" performance groups I've ever witnessed. Rare in a period of time when actual musicianship mattered less. Mint Condition soon followed thank God.
Then you need to see the "Loyalty No Royalty" documentary but just be prepared to catch your jaw, when it drops after hearing a lot of stuff that really went down and broke the group up...

I've seen an interview w Dawn Robinson stating wen she was in Lucy Pearl she started asking questions cause the money wasn't right. Ralph told her to just leave it alone. And they fell out. He went on the Breakfast Club stating she wanted to do her own thing. But the truth is she had no choice. She wasn't getting paid. Just like Elijah Baker & the other band mates.

Raphael did a Sway interview on Facebook and answered every question. Elijah then was drilled with questions after that by podcast hosts from Oakland. Again, the record company played all of them. They had different contracts and some one stole from Raphael too; he clearly stated was was at the point were he was getting ready to take somebody's life. As for Dawn, everybody knows when you write the lyrics and compose the music you get more money; she should have stayed and learned something. However, she wanted to be a singer when she needed to learn how to do it all. And, she still left them high and dry. Clearly the other members of Lucy Pearl continued to grind and learn more. She needed to be well rounded and not just a singer that is a different contract.

I grew up with all them.I always knew there was 6 of them. They all came up in the church like me. Trust Me The Bayarea knew how dirty they did the others. Preacher one of the ones they did dirty use to talk about how low down they were. The receptions for them here in the Bayarea runs hot and cold... mostly cold.
Saw 3Ts headed by Dewayne and other talented musicians last weekend and they sound great. Sang all the old songs. I danced on stage. Good stuff. The new drummer and base player are cute.
The song “Pain” from their 1st album was a very good slow jam. It never made the billboard charts but underground it was the sh**. It was the Part 1 of “Whatever You Want”.
