Perhaps one of the most realistic models I have seen. The sound effects, the train spotters on the platform. Has the whole 70s / 80s feel. The rough looking factory estate with diesel engines. Fantastic layout
Thanks for the kind comment. This was filmed in 2014. Since then. I have rebuilt the outside extension in Summer 2018. The internal layout has been extended by another 13ft.There is also a better quality camera video tour just before I did the extension. Also I did a video tour of the rebuilt outside section last year in HD.
Some of the best attention to detail and realism in the scenery. Particularly the concrete posts with barbed wire tops where the wire has corroded away and the broken glass in the warehouse windows. So good to see weeds and bushes in the sidings. A really good layout. Thank you!
Hi Ballan Parkway. Enjoyed the tour of your 35ft layout. Your model is very realistic! It must of taken many happy hours of hard work to bring it up to the standard it now is. Thank you for sharing.
Amazing no derailments on your ' rotten wood & other dirt Railway' ! Nice idea to put a water container at the end of the line. Great sound too. Thanks for sharing
Hi there I thoroughly enjoyed the tour through your layout, it is done very well and the attention to detail especially the signalling, relay boxes, point motors and little bits of rail here and there gives it a bit of atmosphere; the people give popularity to the railway the layout. I am building and outside part to my layout too so going around yours was inspiring me to get cracking. The broken edge bits on the outside track added a little reality to the rundownness of railways and I liked that touch. I also thought the sounds through the tunnel was very cool; on the 10 out of 10, keep up the good work.
Absolutely brilliant!! Your layout has so much character, the garden extension looks great and colour light signals too! Thanks for sharing cheers Darrell
Nice, love it when people take the time do make a model look like the real grungy thing that has been around longer than me, 70+. All old and wrinkled, warts and all. Only find a few that do as good as you have. USA here, so good luck with the troubles over your way, across the pond. Please be safe. Oh yes, thanks fot the ride, and look forward to more of your artistry.
Thank you for the kind comments. I like the slightly run down look in certain areas. There is a newer tour using an HD camera with a wider angle I did last year. I have also started a twelve foot extension on the go this year. I am going to construct a cement works for the new section.
I think you second comment is an observational political one. Yes the world is changing rapidly. Here in the UK we are preping to leave the EU. Things seem ok here though. I think this year is going to be very interesting. Certainly in your country as well. And also Europe! Keep watching.
Thank you for the kind comment. I would like some of the platforms a bit longer. But that would mean taking out a inner returning loop. I would probably get two more carriages more if I did. I don’t know if it is worth the sacrifice?

BALLAN PARKWAY I don’t think that losing the inner loop is worth it for 2 extra coaches. I thought I saw a video with a class 20 and 7 mark 1 coaches ‘to Skegness’
Frighteningly AMAZING!! It lulled me to slumbers in a rocking train journey motion. Somewhere in my past travels I seem to have been to that place before... Deja Vu!!
what a fantastic layout, and well done on making it a real life train ride, it's only when you come back in the room and see electric sockets on the wall, and say, oh this is not a real train. Amazing
The video was inspirational to me. I am planning to extend my layout to the garden. They way you did and executed will be very useful to me. Thanks & regards
Awesome layout and the cab ride is superb. The ride is full of surprises and the scenery is very well laid out. There's a lot of pride in what you have built, I love it! Take care...
Thank you for the kind comments. This is quite an old video now. The layout is at the moment going through an extension program. So more has and will be added. Thanks Richard
Hello. My compliments on this excellent layout. It is very true to life rough trackage and all. The details of the surroundings and foliage are remarkable. I am a locomotive engineer in the USA. We also see some well worn railroad. I enjoyed this very much. THANKS!
Many thanks for the kind comments. There is a more up to date tour on a wider angle lens i did last year. Better quality picture. also i am in the process this year of extending the layout by another 12ft. keep watching!
interesting points ,if anyone else wants to discover how to build a model railroad layout plans try Megarno Railroad Membership Magician (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my cousin got amazing success with it.
Many thanks for the kind comments. It is loosely based around railways around Sheffield at that time. As I used to live in the Sheffield area. I have done a more recent tour of the layout with an HD camera.
That is a very nice layout. I am getting ready to build my son and I one in the next few months, have to start with an 8x4 until there is more room, I'd love to have one as large as yours!
Than you. There is a much better quality up to date tour last year. Which features the internal extension. Look at “ Stopping at all stations tour” on UA-cam of course.
Hi Ballan! So enjoyed your tour of your layout. This model must have taken years to complete? The skills you used to bring your model to life is obvious. Thanx for sharing.
BALLAN PARKWAY Excellent trip very very well done. What gauge is this and do you have trouble with track being exposed to weather. Can,t get over how realistic it is. Great work
Excellent track detail .Just like the neglected rickety track in BR days when they wouldnt spend any money in sidings and station areas ! All thats missing in the stations on the track is the big brown bits in the middle and the white patches of toilet paper and the stench!
It is easy to criticise, I wonder what your critics have achieved? It was immensely enjoyable. I ran some OO track outside when I lived in France, but I found the combinations of +30 C down to -12 C played havoc with it. Now I am back in the UK, I might try again. Thanks for posting the video, keep up the good work.
Thanks for the kind comment, The outside section requires a lot of maintainance. This winter two of the signal units have blown. I will replace them sometime this year. The track does seem to bend a bit more in higher tempretures. I tend to close that line down until the winter weather has past..... richard
excellent layout! v.interested in the outdoor section which is basically the same asvim planning with mine minus the return loop. one question - would changing the junction design from the main layout to the outdoor one into a double track rather than single track one increase loco movements and potential..? just wondered...
Hi, Thanks for the kind comments. I did try and put a double track out to the junction but found it was too tight. The outer track requires a crossing on the curve. Unfortunately no one seems to manufacture a curved crossing diamond. It was deigned for a double junction. Also the outside section needs to widened to run double track. Which is possible. I am in the process of inquiring fir an extension building fir the inner layout. All depending on cost and planning permission etc. More videos to follow on updates soon. Richard
Very nice too ! Do you have problems with mice getting in to your home or can you seal off the indoor/outdoor tunnel ? My layout is at ground level except the indoor bit where it rises to about 3' off the floor, and I do have rodent problems at times - in fact 3 of the things got into the 'terminus' part of my layout, and tunneled into the Styrofoam under the station ! Took me ages to find out where the scratching noise was coming from ! Anyway, eventually 'evicted' the trespassers, and all is quiet now. Thanks for the video - it's good to see some new video on this hobby on Y/T.
Hello, I have no problems with mice (so far?) but have a few spiders at the moment. Had a look at your channel. You have some interesting topics on there my friend!
Great work on your layout, say for your next on could you use on of your steam locomotives if you have one I'm American yet I have a fascination for other countries steam locomotives
Chippingford Central . Thanks for the kind comment. The ballasting is part Gaugemaster underlay and loose scatter which I have weathered with various paints etc. for added realism.
I used the Peco nickel track. Does not corrode! Outside does require a lot of maintainence though with electrical contacts etc. I don't tend to run that line in the winter due to the wet conditions we have. When it is dryer in spring I re-open that section again....
Thanks for the kind comment. With all the recent rain, The bottom end of the outside track is slightly underwater at the moment. The main issue is i don't want my locos to start corroding......
Really enjoyed watching that. Noticed there was a 40 on the depot, any chance of using that next time so we can listen to the whistling while watching?
Thank you, The layout is going through a 12ft extension at present. I do monthly updates on this channel. There is also another tour with a wider angle lens more recently prior to the extension. Thanks Richard
This is quite a few years ago now. The outside extension has been improved vastly since and the layout extended. There are some more recent part tour videos.

Very realistic - all the signal delays and lack of comfort resembling British Rail. Loved it :)

A fabulous trip, great layout and scenery
can"t help but admire the scenic workmanship.
This is a very realistic model railway ,loved every minute of the tour just how a layout should look
absolutely fantastic layout really enjoyed watching the whole run superb modelling!!
Thank you. A few changes have been done since. The layout is undergoing an extension program.
Amazing no derailments on your ' rotten wood & other dirt Railway' ! Nice idea to put a water container at the end of the line. Great sound too. Thanks for sharing
It’s quite an old video this one. Layout has been re built outside since.
Loved the bits of rough trackage. Very prototypical Enjoyed the trip immensely. Keep up good work
Nice rail footage with a lot of great filming!! Greetings from France!
Many thanks for kind comments.
Merci
Richard
Absurdly enjoyable - best model cab ride on line. Watched it many times. Totally captures the feel of the era 100%

Great video. I love the smaller stuff and the skills people have of making it look realistic.
Absolutely brilliant!! Your layout has so much character, the garden extension looks great and colour light signals too! Thanks for sharing cheers Darrell
Incredibly realistic and very impressive cheers for posting!

thanks for a wonderful trip it must have given many hours of work, great stuff thanks
I love that station! When I expand my 8x4ft board, I think I’ll try to create a station in the same sort of 6 platform style.
Thank you for the kind comment. I would like some of the platforms a bit longer. But that would mean taking out a inner returning loop. I would probably get two more carriages more if I did. I don’t know if it is worth the sacrifice?

Always looks great from these small cameras mate great way to see such a superb model railway.

Superb running session and tour! I think I could happily sit and watch your layout for hours :) - Sim

Awesome very detailed and realistic looking landscape and buildings:)
Very very good, must have taken you years to build it, thanks for sharing.
I have just done another tour recently in HD. Better quality and wider angle. Thanks for the kind comment.
Richard
Great layout and an interesting ride. Thanks for filming. Jason.
The exquisite subgrade, just like a old senior who have seen all since the establish of the railway, talks to us gently.
Loved the look of your layout it must of taken a very long time to build and can you please do another tour soon
Thanks for the kind comment. Yes will do another tour soon. Just uploaded a running session for June recently.
Wow! Those signals really worked nice!! Super cool!!!
Great layout. The Heath and Safety will pull you up on that outside section along the garden fence!
interesting points ,if anyone else wants to discover how to build a model railroad layout plans try Megarno Railroad Membership Magician (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my cousin got amazing success with it.
Great the video shows us how it should be done!
I look forward to seeing more.
Keep up the good work.
brilliant great set up reminded me of Sheffield years ago. Thank-you for sharing.
Many thanks for the kind comments. It is loosely based around railways around Sheffield at that time. As I used to live in the Sheffield area. I have done a more recent tour of the layout with an HD camera.
You use the same station signs that I do. One of the best videos of this genre that I have seen and I am always watching them: Wonderful work!
Thankyou for the kind comment. There has been more done since this was filmed. They layout has been extended by another 12ft
Richard
Very impressive
Thanks for the tour round, great way to see a layout
First time I've seen OO layout. . thank-you for sharing. .

There will be more tours this year. I have now a better camera with a wider len/view field in Hd.....
Fantastic layout! I love the details like the dark green boxes at the left side of the track at 1:17 and the fence to the right at 1:25.
Great Video of a fantastic layout. Great Work.

If I can achieve half of what you have achieved I'll be a very happy man.
Thanks for the kind comment. I am sure you can achieve more than half..

Excellent track detail .Just like the neglected rickety track in BR days when they wouldnt spend any money in sidings and station areas ! All thats missing in the stations on the track is the big brown bits in the middle and the white patches of toilet paper and the stench!
You have given me an idea now! Lol.
Really nice layout.

Power Grid Station can be seen on 8:17 ... :D
I am loving it (Y)
fantastic.
Bloody great!!
Brilliant!!! wow what a great layout, thank you for posting that.
the track seems a wee bit twisty in places,is it ment to look like and indian railroad if so top marks
Smashing fun!
Now that's cool. great video
You have some of the best scenary and ballasting I have ever seen, soooo impressed. What techniques did you use? BTW subscribed. Cheers. Ivi

great stuff!
Nice! Thanks, Robert
wow fab lay out so much detailed in the whole layout .please more up dated of videos.what about the maintenance of the lay out.
Thank you,
The layout is going through a 12ft extension at present. I do monthly updates on this channel. There is also another tour with a wider angle lens more recently prior to the extension.
Thanks Richard
I thoroughly enjoyed my train ride, thanks, it was like travelling on a real train, naf sounds though lol
I thought the sounds were pretty good, that's what an old British diesel sounds like
That was fun 👍
This is quite a few years ago now. The outside extension has been improved vastly since and the layout extended. There are some more recent part tour videos.
Wow that's fantastic! Out of curiosity, what happens if it rains? Do you have to cover the whole thing up?
Hi,
I do not use the outside section when it rains. It also requires a lot of maintainance. So no it is not covered.
The environment is depressingly realistic.
Thanks for the upload.
Nice video
Mightily impressive. I wish I had the ability
one word COOL
Thanks!
impressive !
fantastic! well done with the layout
how do you protect the lines against the rain and what do you do in winter with that gapeing hole
Hi thanks,
The track is made of nickel so it does not corrode.
Saying that the outside section requires a lot of maintanance and cleaning. I tend not to use it in the winter. Had a section collapse last winter due to strong winds. The tunnel mouth I cover up with a small piece of paving slab.

oh thanks for the tips
