Sticking up for oneself is the core issue most men have these days in my opinion. Be it with other men or especially women. Not only will the others lose respect for you, but you yourself lose that respect for yourself which is the most devastating part. How can you expect to be happy in life if you don't even have the courage to be yourself. A lesson i learned just a few weeks ago. Lifes been different since then i tell you.
Ya, this is hard for a lot of guys. There is room for you in the world and it's more than ok to set boundaries. It's also important to know that you can stick up for yourself without being rude, aggressive, defensive, or belittling of other people. Which is also difficult, but so important to learn.
Its quite difficult to be a man today and i dont particularly mean being strong and manly and all that. The former qualities of masqulinity are just not apply to today's standards.. and society hate us like shit if we are not perfect 7/24, and cant behave perfectly all the times, if we dont provide all day all night we are blamed and forced to feel like shit.. I can completely feel you bro. Following your own goals and make efforts to achieve these goals what makes you a man.
It's a human condition for sure. Trying to live up to societal pressures. And those pressures are definitely unique depending on where you live, what you look like, how you are born, etc. I agree with you, it matters how we deal with those pressures - we need to make more individual goals. Chase goals for ourselves, our loved ones, and our own well being - not the goals that others try to make for us.
Being accountable for your actions, being forthright and trustworthy, taking on challenges and following through with your responsibilities, controlling your emotions, and not letting them interfere with your ability to reach your goals and care for those you are responsible for, and keeping a sense of humor about it all, to me this is the heart of masculinity and anything else is meaningless.

In the words of Michael Jordan: Stop it. Get some help.
The goat. The real question is if '86-87 Jordan could beat '92-97 Jordan one on one.
I published on this topic in academia. How do I contact you privately? I'll link you to the research article. You'd find it interesting.
Would love to read it! I have lonely-ass twitter I used for about a week last year. Let's try that! x.com/jake_enslin
