Norm’s stories are always funny. You never know what the point is, so you have to listen to the whole thing. Then it often doesn’t even have a punch line. It’s the journey, not the destination.
His friend worked with rosie in the same building. She was upset about his SNL jokes about her, so Norms friend asked him to dial it down. Norm agreed, and then rolled out the flower joke on Conan the next day!!! classic
Had me in tears. Norm is ridiculous. The jokes that don't land are the funniest. It's all about the delivery, not the joke itself but sadly a lot of people just do not get it
I love these interviews more than anything else norm had done… stand up, acting, SNL, pod casts.. none of them are as funny as his appearances on the late night talk shows…
Totally correct. He might not crack my top of stand up comics, but when you combine his entire media catalogue specifically these late night appearances, he's the funniest person in history to me
He once said on the Howard Stern show that it's funny when he or anyone bombs, but that he himself actually doesn't like to bomb. Also if you hear and watch all of his videos, you'll see that he is obsessed with making people laugh and being entertaining. So I doubt he loves to bomb, he do however enjoy to confuse the audience. This is based off of all his interviews by the way, and yes I'm obsessed with Norm MacDonald.
Norm and Conan are great together. Even when they are making it awesomely akward, they are on the still same page and know when to reel it in and get a laugh.
Dave and Conan would probably have him on like every other show if they could. "Here to promote his new stand-up show in Dirtcunt, Manitoba, it's Norm MacDonald!" *crowd is confused*
I dont know if people remember this but all SNL cast members use to be talented enough (especially weekend update guys) to go on to all the talk shows and make the rounds every month while on the show either doing standup or sit down routines like this. Now none of them have the talent in standup. Its so sad they began hiring juliard graduates instead of comedians.
Man Andy is so lucky, he’s one of the few cool celebrities that has been to the ‘Hairy Guys Ass Mansion’. That was one of my favorite jokes of all his Conan appearances! You can tell he just thought of it moments ago, but it’s so perfect for the place and time! Norm was the GOAT!!
man, that condom joke was hilarious. i guess the audience just wasn't ready... Thanks for uploading some new norm macdonald stuff, OP. it's about time youtube got some more!
With the facts the guy gave him, I thought he was setting up for a punchline of "then again, I don't know if I should trust him. He thought my name was Bob"
I like how the audience never laughs at norms jokes but conan is always busting a gut. You have to know stuff to get norms jokes and have to be simi intelligent.
Norm kicks ass. Wish I had this when I made my Norm Macdonald "he says to me he says to me he says" video... It won't let me link to it, but its in my profile.
I've watched all of Norm's talk show appearances & I realized that a lot of his jokes/anecdotes follow a formula where the punchline involves mistaken identity: there's the "Bob Kendall" airplane story, the turtle "roast beef on a hard roll" story, the 1 where his mom thought some Mexican guy was Dave Letterman, the Pump Friction joke & that other Letterman appearance where he says he saw an impostor Ben Matlock in an airport. I love Norm, but I think I found his talk show joke recipe
i laugh at almost all of Norm's jokes, and when the punchline isn't funny, its usually pretty obvious that it was intentional. Norm's 1 of my favorite comedians. i wasn't criticizing him, i just noticed that his stories frequently involve mistaken identity. Like when his mom thought a Mexican guy in a donut shop was Letterman, or when he thought some old guy in an airport was Ben Matlock. He just likes that specific literary/comic device for some reason, so he uses it in these interviews
@RottenAppleSeeds I don't hate Colin Quinn, look at it this way... Norm was the toughest act to follow. Don't blame Colin, blame the head of NBC for screwing up the best network repeatedly.
I don't think these guys realized back then that all these videos would exist forever and weirdos like you and I would actually watch them all... multiple times in my case
So the guy says to me he says to me he says
Yep!
...he says he says, he says
So anyway I says to Mabel I says
That has become part of my speech pattern
Years ago you made this comment…
The groans really get him off. Such a good man
Norm doing the norm. Which for him is abnormal. Damn Norm. A misunderstood genius.
Glad you had the stones to upload this even though the quality is poor....well worth it, damn tracking!!!
Andy here set himself up for all the future gay jokes
Really?...guess you won't be able to answer me..
@@AMEER-114- Harry ass mansion…
@@charlesharper2357 no idea what you mean
What will happen to Frank Stallone?
Norm is funnier when no one laughs.
That Madonna joke was fucking gold.
Definitely.
"See I just read it for hairy guys asses" - Words Andy would come to regret for years to come
Imagine if Andy had kept his mouth shut - we would have missed out on a whole sub-genre of Andy Richter jokes !
Andy tried to keep his mouth shut, but the guy holding down Andy made sure he couldn't.

First joke about Madonna. Conan looks into the camera like “ Ok this is how it’s gonna be today”. Genius.
Norm is so handsome
James Darmor cause nobody would look for them.

@James Darmor A true Norm fan. 👍
@James Darmor Albert fish what a jerk
@@yesterday3417 Now you’re thinkin!
That Madonna joke was everything , I love how the crowd didn't laugh 😭 That's what makes it funnier . Norm is a genius
Absolutely brilliant
I think he likes it even better when they don't laugh
These Vids all priceless now. We need to watch them all and keep them close to our hearts. RIP Norm.
I’m not norm will be on this soon if not already
2:47 andy just killed himself for a overunning great gig
Went on for decades literally until norm died
I wish I had a time machine. 96' such a simpler time.
I friggin love (and miss) this guy..he’s like comedy medicine for all of the utter sh*t on late night these days
Conan's dead? I didn't even know he was sick

Bob Kendall has always been one of my favorite comedians. I love all his OJ jokes.
Yeah yeah... Bob... Kendall
I searched for him 🤣🤣
Plane story!
There was an actor Bobby Kendall who did a arthouse Gay film.. very trippy but sadly gay.. i aint into that funny business..
I love these interviews more than anything else norm had done… stand up, acting, SNL, pod casts.. none of them are as funny as his appearances on the late night talk shows…

This guy's comedy is truly underrated. He is a comic genius and makes me laugh every time I watch him.
9 years ago he was underrated, now he's a legend.
He once said on the Howard Stern show that it's funny when he or anyone bombs, but that he himself actually doesn't like to bomb. There should be a Norm MacDonald- award for least amoubt of fucks given.
“Our buddy, our pal, our lifelong friend, Norm Macdonald”
The best guest on Conan hands down
Norm and Conan are great together. Even when they are making it awesomely akward, they are on the still same page and know when to reel it in and get a laugh.
This was back when the crowd didn't get that kind of humor Norm has. I thought the Star Trek joke was funny
Dave and Conan would probably have him on like every other show if they could. "Here to promote his new stand-up show in Dirtcunt, Manitoba, it's Norm MacDonald!"

That "hairy guys ass mansion" joke was brilliant.
"He said the actual name of the starship was not... the "Star Trek", it was the Enterprise'."
I LOVE Norm!

You can't define Norm.
Norm just is.
The name of the star ship was not the “Star Trek” it was the Enterprise 🤣😂

Andy probably regrets this quip to this day as it's probably the seed that became the Andy loves gay porn gag he always did afterwards.
Him and Jimmy Caan
Don't forget that this hairy guys ass thing led to all those Andy being gay jokes as well.. hard slip of tongue there andy, if you know what i mean..

His expression after the madonna joke : )
Only Norm can make me lose my shit with a preamble to a joke. "Interesting story I say THIS week..."
Norm is awkwardly brilliant. A genius.
If I had to pick one the "hairy guys ass mansion" is probably my favorite norm quote
@thegov08 nothing bombs with norm macdonald. the bombs turn into gems.
"He was telling me last week he went to the Harry Guy's Ass Mansion." Ba ha ha ha!
Guy thought he was Bob Dole.
if you listen closely there is a fart at 3:10!
Norm Mcdonald is my spirit animal
Psyduck is mine
When this video was posted, it was a 14 year-old clip. Now, it’s only a few years away from 30. Christ almighty.
I miss Norm. I love that Conan saw Norm’s brilliance and basically just gave him free roam to have fun with it and go along for the ride
Back in the old days...
i watched every vid of norm on youtube like 20 times
The two best things on youtube are all the amazing historical videos available to anyone anywhere and... NORM.
Legend all the way through.
With the facts the guy gave him, I thought he was setting up for a punchline of "then again, I don't know if I should trust him. He thought my name was Bob"
I always go bob Kendall for undercover.
Man, I'm surprised that Star Trek joke didn't get any laughs. That was hilarious.
I like this norm guy
Hairy man mansion, that's just comedic gem
I like how the audience never laughs at norms jokes but conan is always busting a gut. You have to know stuff to get norms jokes and have to be simi intelligent.
Back when Conan had to worry about network sponsors.
Norm's take on pop culture was so "fuck pop culture"
Little did we know, he was dead serious about the NBA lines- lol
Not only is Norm a genius, he is also a psychic...Kindle should pay him royalties
norm and conan are just hilarious together
If you listen closely, there is noise in the picture.

the dumb bastard once confused an old alcoholic with the lord of the underworld, Satan himself.
I guess every late night show host goes through a fake laughing jimmy fallon phase.
Watch Conan’s fist monologue- he was basically impersonating letterman
This is when late night was in its prime
@RottenAppleSeeds
I don't hate Colin Quinn, look at it this way...
Norm was the toughest act to follow. Don't blame Colin, blame the head of NBC for screwing up the best network repeatedly.
didn't he do the "guy got my name wrong on a plane-bob kendall" joke on letterman??
I don't think these guys realized back then that all these videos would exist forever and weirdos like you and I would actually watch them all... multiple times in my case
He was Fred that time.
yes, and he did it better then
No, he did the Fred Kendall story on Letterman
I think he did the Bob Kendall bit on Leno
This is where all the homosexual jokes about Andy began lol
At least he left Andy with his dignity
Right to playing with his shoes 😂
I thought the crowd was deaf or dead. Hilarious stuff, but it comes on like a slow storm.
*makes a joke about how disgusting Madonna's momo is*
"That's great!"
it's amazing how norm rarely ever repeats stories/comedy on talk shows. its brilliant.
He does, but it's never about the bit. The way he tells it, that's what matters to the people at home.
This is where the whole Andy is gay thing started. It's his fault for making a joke about being gay.
I think it's sweet he didn't want to make the first plane guy feel bad so he kept the "Bob" bit going with the second guy.
Norm was the best guest on Late Night.
A lot of his comedy revolves around playing dumb.
Lol at Springsteens drummer. He's like a megastar. Only he couldn't care less.
does anyone have the one where Norm on Conan tells a story about his uncle who had sex with a gaot?
Man this guy is brutal.
Is 2:46 the catalyst of Norm calling Andy gay?
@davidigleniec Or Don Ohlmeyer. Either one.
Absolutely fucking hilarious
accidentally rated this one star. whoops.
I love Andy Richter. I just want to give him a big hug. No homo.
I wanted to be productive today but instead I started watching old Conan clips on UA-cam.
Back then, the Kindle didn't even exist.
Norm was a terrible man. God rest his soul.
ROFL ACTUALLY IT WASNT THE STAR TREK IT WAS THE ENTERPRISE !!! omg lol
