Andy's sense of "out there" humor every bit as ... well, out-there as Norm's. His 10 seconds of that 1 minute as perfect as Norm's - timing AND delivery-wise.
Norm lovingly mocking the talk show format is one of the best things he ever did. God bless conan for providing him the perfect platform and letting norm drive however he wanted
Most people on this channel are likely too young to know but that was a perfect mimic of Johnny Carson coming out of the curtain with all of his mannerisms displayed until Norm starts talking.
every new clip that I see from him is a gem for me now. even the brief moments (as all the moments are btw) between the jokes or him walking in, that we can find in unedited videos like these are really making me happy. god I miss you norm...
Could have said it better. I’ve watched at least a half hour of norm a day for the last 5 years - heartbreaking we can’t see anything new but these people finding new clips are so appreciated
my favourite thing about norm that too often goes unnoticed is his purposely fucking up pronunciations of words. He was a well read man and knew how to say those things correctly but it added to the bit.
He was actually quite a bit more than just well read. We both went to high school in the Ottawa area and graduated high school the same year. But he was 4 years younger than me :(
I love that he deliberately did oldtimey talk for Conan, knowing that is his absolute favorite. He's the one who got Mr. Burns doing that so much. This man really is a fish in water on a talk show, he loves it and he loves Conan.
Amazing, also surprised that gypsies have the same reputation in North America as in the UK never heard them mentioned in movies much apart from the old woman gypsy curse trope
That's one of the very few shows that I watched from the very beginning, and it was great. It even had the Kyle Mooney interview bits which never get old.
3 years into his Cancer diagnosis... With no one having a clue. He kept it to himself. And tho he probably had trying times when he was alone, he was always full of smiles, laughs, and unique comedy when in public. I've become such a huge fan of Norm Macdonald since he passed from this earth. Like a painter who becomes world known after their death.
"Bluestocking, any of a group of ladies who in mid-18th-century England held “conversations” to which they invited men of letters and members of the aristocracy with literary interests. The word has come to be applied derisively to a woman who affects literary or learned interests" Actually such a brutal roast, gotta love Norm.
Norm taught me how to be an optimist. Though I still fear death (like he did) I now look for the silver lining. I can't wait to get oldtimers disease so I can see Norm's bits for the first time again on the TEE-v.
I wonder if by then TEE-v will still be a thing. I'm merely in my fourties, but talking to kids these days about how my childhood looks like feels like being at least in my sixties, if I compare it to the stories from older folks back when I was a kid. It's all moving so damn fast, and getting faster by the year. Might be that Oldtimer's won't even be a problem any more, because we will all get external harddrives attached.
Norm was the one who said he didn't agree with people who say "so and so lost the battle to cancer." Norm said if you die of cancer, then the cancer does too, and he would call that a draw.
I love how when he first came out for the monologue part he seemed to embody the mannerisms of Johnny Carson. In fact I think the band played a bit of the Johnny Carson intro music if I heard that right.
Love that Norm used the term bluestocking. Was a term literary women took on as a badge of honor and there are still bookstores in major cities that go by the name but it is comically archaic which is what he does so well.
Just as I was about to say "I can't believe Conan missed the opportunity to have Norm switch seats with him and act like a talk show host", he goes and does it lol
If I was in the audience and was lucky enough to see Norm....and then one of my comic heros Fred Willard it would be a day I'd cherish for my lifetime.
Hey bro, I saw this clip for the first time, for someone who is not in US and introduced to norm 6 years back. I subscribed to your channel for more. Good job bro
Even though Norm is gone, the gift of his comedy and spirit in these clips makes you feel that he is immortal and we are so blessed to have him immortal in our lifetimes
A lot of his jokes get funnier the more you listen to them again. Theres so much subtlety thats easy to miss the first time. I can see him not getting to immediately see the full effect hes had on his fans but he most likely came to see that as he grew older.
Can you imagine if he really did take over instead of James corden? Wouldve saved us a world of pain

Because Old Andy Richter the Swedish-German knows all too well what happens at the edge of town
Andy’s “sure” always gets a chuckle out of me.

He doesn't go for any of that funny business neither.

@JohnnyNoPockets fred Willard is dead so maybe it did.
@@antwankumiya5657 it certainly did.

Yes, Conan and David Letterman loved him and always gave him free reign on their shows.
Considering that Ferguson essentially mocked the format for his entire run, it's appropriate.
