    I've used the original link and sensors now for going on my third season. My only complaint, especially based off of your dead sensor story, is why can't it automatically pick up where I'm playing? I don't think you should have to tell it what hole you are starting on and what your second nine will be to start your round. It should just pick up where you are and if you only play 5, 6, 7 holes before it gets dark. I live right on a course and would like to just turn it on, play the 6-12 holes, sometimes not in order and have it get my log my stats. Am I wrong for thinking that should be easy for it to figure out? Does the new sensor do that?

    I thought the review was really good I just brought the pro a couple of days ago and been wondering if there was any new reviews only thing I would of liked is more on the course do you swipe the club past your pocket or does it pick it up automatically some more pics of the actual app and also I noticed you did contact your watch that would of been good to see what info that gave as well but thank you for the review it was really helpful and I look forward to when I get mine. I have been using the Garmin one but found them annoying on having to touch it to your phone all the time that why I changed

    I am using the Link Pro now and have played 5 or 6 rounds with it. I have found that when I get home I have to go in and edit the holes. It. seems for me to be off about 10 shots per round. Also, I am like the other viewers in that I am not sure when I hit the button for the pin setting if it is working or not. It would be nice if it blinked or something. I did talk to an Arccos rep about something else and he stated to stand by the pin for a few seconds to ensure that it picked up the position. I would like to know if there is anything that I can do to cut down on missed shots. Great review.

      Thanks for this. This is what I was looking for. Sounds like the same issues as the older Link models imo. I always found the older models to have issues if you left your phone in the golf cart and walked away with the link on your belt. I almost always have to edit those shots. I think the issue with missed shots on the Pro probably has something similar to do with the previous issues. Which, imo, makes the new one absolutely NOT WORTH $225. GTFOH with that shit. The fact that I had to pay $50 for the Gen2 feels like flat out stealing imo. If it misses more than 2 or 3 shots per round, it's not worth the money imo.

    Thanks, as always for the informative videos. I have been on Arccos for 6-7 years. I have an Apple Watch Ultra and have typically used it to track shots. I purchased the Link Pro (updated old Link). The Apple Watch Ultra has been my go to, but it does prevent me from adding music (Bose Open Ultras - which are fantastic btw - worth your review). Lately, when using the watch to track, I noticed that the iPhone app is not auto-advancing to the next hole. I may try your setup and purchase the Garmin watch and still use the Link Pro. I highly recommend the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds as you can still hear your playing partners and your surroundings. Any feedback on the auto-advance problem or my setup is appreciated. I am staying with Arccos for history purposes and also like the fact that the latest update connects to GHIN.

      Tried the Link Pro today. It missed a ton of shots. It was in the front left pocket... one time it actually picked up my wife's drive from another tee box - likely from audible. Seems like the Apple Watch Ultra would always be better at picking up shots based on the accelerometer. Did order the Epix Pro v2

    Does it matter when you mark the pin location? For example can you mark the pin right as you get to the green, and then hit your putt after? Or must it be marked after you’ve holed your putt

      I have the same issue. Overall shot tracking with the link pro has been great. Will miss the occasional short chip shot but not often enough to be an issue so far. That being said the set pin button is terrible. In 5 rounds I don’t think it has worked once. Incredibly frustrating.

    I commented here earlier about doubting the Link Pro. Wanted to come back with a fair assessment.
    Long time subscriber to Arccos with Gen 2 sensors in the club handles. Verified every club's sensor was functional. I bit the bullet and purchased the new Link Pro. Bottom line is it is no better than the previous Link or just carrying my phone.
    Recent buddy trip to Myrtle Beach. I played four rounds with the Link Pro. 1 round it quit after hole 8. Maybe I bumped the off button...I'm not sure, but I have no stats for that round. The other 3, maybe one-third of the holes are completely correct. Every other hole requires some sort of adjustment. Even forgiving penalty strokes, Arccos is either off on putts (both too few and too many), extra wedge shots, wrong club detection, missed shots (no I didn't hit my driver 389 yards), shot location, etc. For $225 it is still WAY too off. No device is going to be perfect, but there is little value in this new device. If you have the old Link, stick with it. If you can handle having your phone in your pocket, at least then you can quickly make the adjustments.
    I wanted it to be better because I do not like carrying my phone...but it just isn't.

    I just played my first round with the Arccos Link pro and it picked up all the full shots, pitches, chips flawlessly. Even when I'm far away from my phone in the cart it picks up all the shots perfectly. I do notice though that I have to edit putts often (maybe every other hole) because the sensors doesn't seem to pick that up well. It's a simple process, but still kind of annoying. I do have an Odyssey AI Jailbird putter though that comes stock with kind of a thicker grip, so I don't know if that could be the issue as perhaps I need the SuperStroke sensor or something. Just some initial thoughts anyway for those on the fence.

      @@glossolalian It's not uncommon in the world of golf tech products. If you're looking for one without any subscription at all, definitely check out the Shot Scope X5 or V5. I'd personally stay away from their H4, as it's not an automatic system (have to tap your belt before every shot), but the others are solid. See my last video for a comparison of some of these systems.

      Yeah, so the charging case is good for 12 rounds. So as long as you put it back in its case after every round, you won't need to charge the case for 12 rounds. The device itself I think is 2. But I put it back in the case after every round, so I can't tell you exactly how long the device itself will last. But had zero issues during my rounds with it re: battery life.

    Does the discount code work on software renewal???
    I am kind of surprised you didn’t mention the software licensing fees after purchase. I loved having my Arccos sensors to learn my distances but once the free software ran out and they asked for $150 for a year I kind of balked because of how many other apps do that for free or for far less and work well with my Apple Watch. Granted it’s not as automated but when you figure that’s three or four rounds of golf, $150/year is a lot of money to spend for a software license on a product you’ve already paid for. Had it been $20 or $30 I probably would’ve bought back in.

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  7 місяців тому +1

      The discount unfortunately only works on the product itself. And, yeah the subscription is definitely one of the big downsides to the product. That said, I personally think the experience is enough better than other products to warrant it - as long as you play on a pretty consistent basis throughout the year.

    • @OMG-2
      @OMG-2 7 місяців тому

      @@breakingeighty yeah I just can’t justify that much money for a subscription that reports on what I’ve done instead of how to get better. I know how many greens I missed. Arccos just doesn’t provide $150/yr of added value for me. That & my golf subscription fees are getting close tho the cost of club membership when you bake in sim software and GSPro and Arccos. It starts to get a little crazy so I decided Arccos was the looser as any gps app and a range finder can replace it with the on course data i need.with a one time cost. I don’t need Arccos to tell me my short game needs improvement - my scores tell me loud and clear.Like I said above, at a more reasonable price, I might buy back in but for now it just feels like the next proformance golf

    One thing I didn't really hear you mention is if you have the Link is the Link Pro worth the upgrade?

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  7 місяців тому +3

      Essentially the Link Pro will work the same way as the original, but the upgraded GPS, and microphone array makes tracking shots more accurate.
      The charging case is a nice quality-of-life feature.
      But the big question for you is: are you happy with the performance of the current Link?
      If so, then there may not be a reason to upgrade. Yes it should be more accurate, the charging case makes it more convenient, and I personally like being able to have it in my pocket. But if you’ve been happy with yours and its performance, then I don't think upgrading is 100% necessary. That said, the experience all the way around is better and more refined.

    Their data layout has always been the best for the data collecting devices. However, and in my opinion this is a big however, why Arccos cannot come up with a more elegant solution like Shotscope with their own watch! Who wants to carry something around in your pocket (even if it is smaller)? The sensors have also always felt a bit large too me. To me, a better product would be a watch option like Shotscope with smaller sensors? I know there are others that will feel differently, but as long as they continue to insist on something in your pocket/on your belt, etc. type model it's a nonstarter for me.

Its tracks some of them, missess loads of them, doesn't jump tontye next hole, puts shots therefore on the wrong hole, requires loads of post round editing, distracts you to total distraction on the course and as a result makes you mad. Furious. Frustrated.

More than it should, but detects most of the shots. On my second Link...and it is not worth the $$$. Hesitant to invest in the Link Pro for more of the same. May just go back to carrying my phone. As much as I hate it, that does seem to do the best job of shot detection. I also wonder about the environment. Cell phone coverage at my home course is spotty at best.
