And please folks...wash your sink out BEFORE using it to clean your tools.
I like to wash mine after. It saves me cleaning it twice. Edit: but I don’t clean my brushes and combs this way
Oh lawd! Mo has once again taught me to take caring for my hair more seriously. I do wash my combs and brushes with shampoo but never thought about doing the disinfectant part.
Never thought i'd see a video like this. I've cleaned my hair tools like this forever. Thanks for sharing.
,,,,,,
*looks at my hair tools that haven’t been cleaned more than little shampoo water soak every once in a while* Whew, I need to do better 😅
I always use Dr.Bronners soap to clean my edge control/gel brushes, clips and combs but never thought about my bristle brushes 🤦🏽♀️. Thanks for the reminder.
The peppermint dr broners would do the trick.
That scalp clarifier is A1 tho ! 👌🏾💯
Yes, I love it.
Finally! Someone who talks about the importance of cleaning your hair tools before and after use. While waiting for my hair to continue to deep condition, I ALWAYS clean my tools. I never used anything but shampoo to do so. And yes I clean the sink before and after I do my hair. Thank you for this vid!
My mom taught us to always soak hair tools weekly with shampoo ( or dawn if we ran out) for 20-30mins then clean thoroughly with a brush. I love the smell of hair tools once they’re clean 😍.
I absolutely love this woman!! She is a wealth of knowledge and always sharing it😍😍
Wooooooowwww! I'm sooo ashamed! Lol i rinse my brushes here and there, but never thought abt disinfecting them. Thanks MO, always so clutch!
I’m so happy for this video. Since I am the only person using my tools, I was just washing them the with my shampoo. When you know better, you do better. Thank you for the knowledge. Now I know!
I always wondered what that blue bottle in hair salon was.

Thanks Mo!
Thanks for posting this video. I've been cleaning my hair tools wrong for years. I clean a large tub then pour boiling water in it, add several household cleaners & let the tools soak for hours. Then rinse & dry. I'll do better after watching this video.

I have an oooooooooold bristle brush that’s my absolute fav. I can’t bring myself to throw it away, because it was my great aunt Ida’s then became my granny’s. They’ve both since departed this life and it’s a memento of them that I not only cherish, but still use practically everyday.
Thank you as always
This video is very helpful. I hang on to my brushes for way to long

Why do all of the dope hair influencers all have that one hater that dislikes their videos? What is that?!
Thanks for the always helpful tips, Mo!
@therougebar Love your products! They’ve been working wonders for my curls! I have hair like yours and I’ve been subscribed since the beginning watching and letting you help me manage and style my curls! Keep it up beautiful sista! **Also my entry from the Instagram product contest.
I have always had issues with my scalp being inflamed but never thought until recently that not properly disinfecting my tools could be the reason why. Wow. Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been watching you for years and appreciate all that you’ve taught us. This literally may be the last breakthrough that I needed to get my scalp issues + shedding under control.
This question isn't really related to the video but can you share the correct process (i.e. what come first, next, last) for deep conditioning or hot oil treatments. Should I hot oil treatment my hair first then wash and condition? Same question for deep conditioning. What are the proper steps for maximum effectiveness? And can I use black castor oil as an hot oil treatment?
Hi Mo, can I include my spray bottles in this same regimen please?
@dejavue31 this was highly informative and you clearly and slowly explain it so I can actually follow!
What if you don’t have barbecide ? Any substitutes?
You know us all too well, thrown in a drawer 😆. Thanks for explaining!
Watching this video inspired me to clean my hair tools today.
@ms_elenie_ous. I've actually done this but no Barbacide.. 😅 usually clean off my clips after I use them.
Should I be concerened about water getting trapped inside of the brushes?
@araphaelle useful tips!
@moknowshair Does using a clarifying shampoo strip the coconut oil on the Cricket detangler comb?
No.
ginadcampbellYes thank you because I thought I was cleaning my hair tools the right way but guess not but I cleaned them and went and got some new ones thanks for the tip👍
👍L.I.K.E.!!
How do you clean a curling iron with hard plastic bristles?
@thebsimp..... never knew any of this
ig@Nehann2 I have to admit I do not clean my hair tools regularly.🤦🏿♀️ Thanks for the reminder. I will do better.
@sisteriasimmons this video is extremely helpful
Can I substitute isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol for barbicide?
No. They do not have the same function.
May I use a disinfectant spray (Lysol) instead of the bardicide?
No... As I said in the beginning, household cleaners are too harsh for your tools and will strip the material and bristles
@genuinelyperfect
@natkaype always wash my tools!
Beautyis_ki !!!
👍
Extremely informative video; thank you! @ShayTweedledee
@rockyourglory_
