Very inspirational video in regard to teaching folks. Hobbying always needs new blood, and helping people help that is a valuable service to the community
When a teaching game is done right, the level of excitement for a system/wargaming in general is kept for a long time. I can still remember my first game of Bolt Action almost 6 years ago, and though it took me till 2019 to start playing properly it was always in the back of my mind. Great video!
It's really nice to see these "How to play" videos. They are a good inspiration and this one is made very well. Jessica did a super great job in destoying the opponent army - and at the end of it got a hold of basic pin rules, moral test and shooting.
This video highlighted how the rules can be a bit overwhelming for your first game. This game does get a lot easier the more you play. I hope Jessica makes another appearance in a future Bolt Action video. And Tabletop CP has my vote for good sportsmanship in this match.
Well done, Jessica! Your future opponents will learn to fear your ability to cause them devastating loads of circle-pokies! I hope everyone enjoyed the game as I enjoyed watching it. However I really wanted to see the goats enter into melee combat. Sigh. If only the rules allowed goats to fight back! Bravo to all! Cheers and be well.
The one pokey guy with the two things. That was the official Heer designation for a light machine gunner. 😉 Very nice to see a new player involved. I enjoy teaching people about our hobby; glad you did this. 😊 What got her interested in tabletop war gaming?
Hey Brett. Travis and I used to worked together, well still do in a way. When we were in the same office he use to get a lot of packages.... A LOT of packages. A few years ago he was so upset about the wrong grass being delivered... i had to ask what was going on and who the hell orders fake grass. Just recently i asked if i could finially try and learn and he said the best way was just to come play.
He is "Der pieksige Typ mit den zwei Dingern". Not sure this is a historically accurate term, but.. who cares? Great video for teaching me the game! Thank you!
Good introductory game. Other noobies to the hobby I know have been more interested in the animals on the battlefield than the soldiers, too. Maybe it's time to house rule an 'Oink!' type event a la Sharp Practice into Bolt Action. :D
Good show. I was wondering if you did any How To Play videos. If not we’ll maybe you could. You should have spread a bit of gravel from the house to the road. Hey how can I get a set of your dice, do you sell them? Thanks
I really want to get into this game more. However, I have discovered that I really do not have any place in the house for this yet. I guess I could paint out in the garage.... lol
BTW I've just started this video this is great!! I've started a Japanese army so I'm hoping to get some rules with the new starter to fill out my army Saw this vid and subscribed cheers!
When charging the unit on the road, why didnt you tell Jessica to shoot at them. As you said it was more than 6" when you fired your SMG at them the turn before? And so she was allowed reaction fire to the charge. Whens her next game.
I got these off eBay. They were part of an old Kickstarter. Haven’t seen them on there for a while. I have seen several 3d printed versions of it since so may what you check for those.
Great video! With the hand on hand combat tho, you missed the reaction fire since you were more than six inches out. Besides that, very good rule exchange. I also recommend Americans bc that’s who I run and they don’t suffer the move to hit penalty!

Just starting the view, probably wont get a reply but question. Why make the Soviet teams 9 men strong when 10 men has such an advantage with regards to pinning? I would have thought, if you had points limitations, make one squad 10 men and one eight. The impact of one man on the 9 man squad is not a great reduction where as the other gets a decent advantage and can be a fire base for the group.
Probably just symmetry really. No real tactical reason behind it. But you are right a full strength squad does convey an advantage that is probably worth the squads not being symmetrical
@@tabletopcp Could be that you only did not show but the way you moved them... I might not remember correctly I thought the way you are allowed to move was more... straight and turning around with wheeled vehicles was different... But I didn't play for a longer time so I might have mixed the rules with another game 😅
I’ll be honest, I’d much rather dress up in camo or ww2 uniforms then grab some rifles an shoot some targets than play this. But if this tickles ya then Godspeed
@@tabletopcp im not saying that I don't like the videos, but first the volume is so high its blasting yur ears out, then you need to raise volume again for the content itself. Maybe adjust it a bit when editing? But sure np, I'll stop watching then
This is VERY timely. I’ve just persuaded my wife to try a game for the first time! Wish me luck…😬
Be careful...I introduced my wife to bolt action and she now owns 2 1000pt german armies.
You can't let her win, and u can't win. Good hunting
I know it's 2 years later but... How did it go? 😀
@@hiddendragon6437 haha, well, I didn’t need to buy a second army for her.

Excellent teaching game. I think Jessica did well for her 2nd miniatures game ever. I enjoyed her child like wonder at some of the rules.

Good video and she got fair questions, glad u included it all, very educational. Reading the rulebook isnt the same.
She was a fun and entertaining and fairly adorable addition to the game! 'whats a 'commisor'?

Welcome to the club Jessica. 😊

Great video really hope you do one for sharp practice.
Probably the funniest game I've ever seen and useful too - it helped to clear up some of my confusion about BA rules.
Thanks Duncan, glad you liked it! We hope to do more
Great video. Great to see Jessica get a very good intro into Bolt Action!
Just picked up a band of brothers box to split with a friend and a box of German grenadiers. Thanks for the content!
Great video! Please do more Bolt Action, I'm new also and can't get enough of it :) also where did you get those wonderful pin markers ?
Thanks! The pin markers are from Charlie Foxtrot models.
"How do you feel now?" LOL! Priceless. Her talking smack had me rolling. Awesome demonstration!
BA-64 should of had the 12.7mm HMG option, other than that like you said both sides was pretty much equal in all areas and capabilities.
That's a really good project. Showing new people what Wargaming is. And as well for people on UA-cam who don't know the rules!

The mortar hit markers? I made them out of kebab sticks and clump foliage

Got ‘em off eBay years ago. Haven’t seen them in a while. They make 3d print files for them now or can buy from 3d print shops

thank you you guys are great!
New to Bolt action and found this very helpful. Where did you get your pin markers?
They are from Charlie Foxtrot
When your officer charged from outside 6", would her unit have been able to shoot defensive fire as you charged?
Great game, enjoyed watching a lot.
I just called and asked him. You are right! Darn. Maybe next time!
Yeah you are right. I think I they had not activated yet so they should have gotten some defensive fire
