It makes me so happy to see the 124018 in action! I'm much more keen on this look than the 019. Almost reminds me of a vehicle that would be in Mad Max. Congrats on the car!
You got extremely lucky for that esc not to pop instantly on 3S mate, good you put a disclaimer in the video as I just made a video telling people not to bother trying it on the 124019 as these ESC's are known to have issues with 3S carried over from the 144001 model. I wont be trying it on this model when i receive it in the next few days, Good running vid Michael 👍
@@MickoRC My 144001 does still handle 3s lipo as well but it was a series one model with the original esc with dedicated slider switch, but these ones seem fragile at even a slight voltage over load so i've been hearing before i tried mine. Nice video - this 124018 handles really well and it's got very good performance on 2s. Assuming diffs are properly greased: No.1 diff killer is going in reverse and then full throttle forward (usually to wheelie). No.2 diff killer is going full throttle forward from standstill. The grippier the tires and surface, the bigger the damage done to the diffs. The ESC is there to control throttle input in variable amounts, the throttle trigger is not an on/off switch. If people learned how to master throttle input gradually, the diffs would last 10 times longer - at least. Happy rc'ing to everyone :-)

Hi Micko, nice run. I'll be sticking to 2S for safety reasons though haha. My precious. Question, do you think it is worth upgrading any of the parts on this or you reckon it's pretty good/durable stock. I'm not looking to do any expensive upgrades, I only go on medium grass and tarmac. If anything I just drift alot and speed straight.
Thanks mate. Yeah me too, staying on 2s to be safe. I was just lucky it was OK that one time. haha Stock is fine for me. But I might upgrade it to brushless in future only because it would be fun seeing a desert style truck going 80 km/h on tarmac. 😆😀 Thanks for watching bro!
Hi John. Yes I have the 12428 as well. It seems to run better ofroad but has less speed. But 12428 is way more durable. So far I have only upgraded to oil shock on my 12428. I don't enjoy driving the 124018 as much as the 124018
The manufacturer only recommends 2s. Some people have tried and their ESC blew immediately while others survived. I ran 3s on mine out of the box and it survived, though the plastic on one corner of the ESC melted and deformed a bit, but it still works. I will never try 3s on it again. Run 3s at your own risk. 😀

It's tough to decide. haha. Both perform very well. 018 probably rolls over more often due to its height / higher centre of gravity. It's hard to say because of the awkwardness in maneuvering the battery when inserting. You might be able to slip in a battery sized up to 100 x 35 x 20mm and that's without removing the plastic battery holder ends. (Accept these measurements at your own risk. 😉) I can fit my XF Power 2600mAh battery (tinyurl.com/bgxfpower2600m) if I remove battery holder at one end, but lose ability to use velcro strap. You might be able to fit bigger batteries but you'll only know if you try and maneuver it in. Disclaimer: Sorry, I don't know much about C ratings. I've heard they're not accurate and can be disregarded.
