IMPORTANT for any buyers. The shocks come with to much oil in them, that's why they are so stiff. Easy fix, open the shock top off and remove a bit of oil. Just use a paper towel or similar to absorb the excess.

yup, for racing I like a softer spring setup, stiff is good for bashing.

This is an awfully nice little buggy I love the platform and the look of the body. I also like the fact that it's not very big..alot of fun from a nice very portable package.

I want one. The shock problem can usually be solved by refilling them with the shock shaft halfway in. The bladder doesn't have much movement, like a CVA. It causes a hydraulic lock.
Yes, sounds like it needs looking at.... should be a relatively easy fix
My 144001 came with overfilled shocks. Should be the same problem
Waiting for mine to arrive hopefully next week.
I’ve been using a bit of Teflon tape on the lock nuts to hold them in place. Haven’t seen the nuts move much since.
I really like that purple body! Really pops on screen! The other one looks pretty cool as well

These are great platform for sure, and LOL Do Not Try 3S on these esc's i sacrificed one the other day in my 124019 in my recent video to warn others Not to try it. With the original series #1 144001 when they were first released with dedicated on off switch esc and rx combo i managed 51mph/83kph top speed out the box on 3S on that one last year! but those series 2&3 later model esc's pop instantly
Yes my original 144001 was 40mph+ on 3s... Not worth trying it with these new ones.
Perth West oz rc i have a 144001 coming. So perhaps it doesn't support 3S anymore?

Finally got mine last night havent run it yet ..the sandrail is pretty kool enclosed elect. Keep out the dirt rock most of it at least. Very kool feel really good like a rc vehicle should

My 144001 diffs last about 10 runs before stripped. I'm on my 3rd pair of diffs

Love the purple, I can't make my mind up on the longer wheel base desert, the D7 Baja body is great and the 124028-b shell looks great but I can't put my finger on it but it just looks odd. Probably just me 🤣

I have the buggy. You're right 3S burns it up. The problem with the ride is the shocks are overfilled more than likely.

I found these buggies uncontrollable in the type of sandy dirt we have on Long Island. Don’t get me wrong we have clay and all types of dirt but for the most part on a dry dusty summer day these things just are spinning and ripping all over the place which is a lot of fun. I know it’s the tires there not for dirt that’s for sure fun ass hell though. These things are quick to.
I own the 144. Im thinking of getting the 018.. Desert buggy before the 019. Change things up some

I recently ordered the 124019, as I always wanted to get into the world of RC. It looks like a decent platform for upgrading, I can’t wait to try it out. Does anyone have experience with Makerfire? I Ordered from that website, haven’t used them before so I’m not sure what to expect.
Do they have metal gears in the diff or are they nylon

WLToys needs to hire someone to give their models a proper unique name instead of numbers. We are not search engines, we are humans!
Reached out to them several times, but no one of the company responds. If you have contacts, let me know as more than willing to also make sure their manuals aren't full of weird words/bad translations. (note: I am in China)
Do note, sometimes the box does have a name or series indication; Storm CC (Cross Country? For the A969A version and Vortex for the regular. The A949 was called Rally drift if not mistaken, so it also partially due to the resellers to think in product codes
Any ideas on budget brushless that will get me longer run time? I don't need anymore speed just looking for run time. Thanks
I had to get air out of the rear shocks on the desert buggy and then it ran much better.

Yes pretty sure a lot of the parts are the same. This has different rear arms & plastic front shock tower, but other than that looks the same
how is the steering on those wltoys 12 scales... i just got the wltoys a959 and the steering radius is way to wide and linkage is sooo sloppy... i hope those one have much better steering set up...everything else i like..please let me know...thanks
I'm waiting for the spares to be readily available so that I can use the chassis and prop shaft on my 144 truggy. That way I'll have a clone lc emb truggy to go with my real lc emb truggy. 😎👍🏽

Oh that 18 model is quite nice. I like the 19 buggy... but I'm not actually a fan of those flat buggys.
Desert buggy for me I like it better than the others a little tweak on the rear suspension and voila
Yeah, removed a bit of oil (over filled) and they are now spot on :)

I was waiting for your review Phil. You're probably one of the few UA-camrs that I trust and rely and there's an issue with this platform that I'll be waiting for you also - the probabilities of chassis get bended 🤔
Are you going to beat the 009 in a skate park as you did with the 144001 ? I think that's the only way to me for dissipate any doubts 🤔
I think the 009 will bend, not so sure about the 008.
It's a "crapy test" for you, once you can damage your cars but still very pertinent.

Hey Phil, you have always made me smile watching you rip about with your WL toys. I would like to get one. buggy street/off road basher. i had an idea for a video, maybe a short. but showing the new model 124008, and other similar models compatible parts, being able to make a custom car from a few different ones. and finding replacement/upgrades that are compatible also. i know this sounds like a stupid idea now that i typed it out. but i cant find any videos showing compatible parts. im sure i could just get onto facebook and find a group thats got someone that would know every part lol.
Anyways if you made it this far thank you a million for all the content. i love your style of editing and choice of RCs.

lots of parts fro these. I've not see a cheap SC with a metal chassis etc.
The shocks are overfilled with oil. Drain out about 5 mm and it rides better.

HI GUYS, I have an issue with 124018, where the tires come off really easily if I bash it. If I tighten the screws too much, the tire becomes hard to spin and if I keep the screw a bit loose, the tires comes off? Does anyone know how to fix this issue. Thanks

Hello I love watching your channel. I'm trying to put together a c24 mod. I have the single speed transmission with the 370 engine all metal .I don't know what length drive shafts to put in it to make for the c24. The kit that I ordered came with two very long steel drive shafts. The same length as the rear drive shaft on the wplc 44 kit metal. They do not work. If you could help me out I would be much appreciative. I've already modded my front servo tray to accept the engine and all I have to do is remove a front link. 3 Link in the front is not so bad for the clearance. Once again thank you for your time and your help happy holidays.
The rear Shocks on the 124018 look like they are leaning towards the front of the buggy and might be the cause of the suspension issue.. but other than that I really like it

Excellent top speed guess! I still don't get why they aren't selling roller versions of these... A roller with a Max10 combo and a gyro would be quite a vehicle...
They do in China; you can get them without the ESC and transmitter. Costs about 15 USD less. So you can modify/customize on order.

Updated versions of the popular 12428, BUT, with yet another price jump! Is this another example of buggies that are destined to become ON road speed run vehicles? Is it too touchy on the steering? It seems to jump around a lot.
Suspension needs softening, the backs a bit jumpy. As for the price, i think they are only about 10% more than the 144001. Always deals out there ....

How many parts are as shared between the 144001? Would it be just swapping the driveshaft and bottom plates? Currently none of these additional spares are showing up on taobao. Can you share the diagram?
Pretty much all the same. The rear arms are different as they have different shock mounts on them

@@TomleyRC today I learned that the 124028 is actually a clone of the EMB-DTH, right?
Got the 124018 as it seemed harder to get the parts to update, seems i was right. The shock towers are plastic, the arns at the back are very different for the rear suspension.
@@TomleyRC parts are available now, but not those specific to the desert buggy. Glad I got this one instead. So bottom plate, side skirts for the bottom plate, driveshaft, brace, are available... But not these spring mounts (so far only found them from LC racing).
If only buying one would you recommend one of these or the 144001?
All 3 are good. The 124019 is probably the one to go for

They come with too much oil in shocks. Take some out and you good to go

Should be prices mate. But one thing I will say... I bet there are not many UA-camrs that sell there stuff as cheap as I do 😎 I set nearly all mine to about $1 profit 😉👌

They need grease added to the diffs and the socks have way too much oil in them.
I checked my 144001 (just bought a new one a few days ago and they have a decent amount of glob in the diffs), but the shocks are empty.
