- The Roadkill guys finally did what they've been planning for three-plus years! Long ago they bought a late-model circle track race car and planned to drive it to the Deep South, but the car could not be insured because it had no VIN. Solution? Install a body that has a VIN! That's exactly what you'll see in this episode, as a 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo is transformed into the beast now known as the Nascarlo! It even drives on the street! And races on the dirt track! But suffice it to say it does not all end well. Roadkill is powered by Dodge and supported by Eastwood Company, Dickies, and Optima Batteries.

+DriftTek Mayhem has it's own look but comparing it to the Nascarlo it's just a stock body with some roadkill fixes and Nascarlo on the other hand is a full on Roadkill design car. So I would say that Nascarlo is the best looking car they have built in Roadkill yet and not just fixed car.
I'm very happy the ball joint didn't snap while on the freeway and that you're safe Freiberger.

+Johnny Frost Agreed. But it was probably under way more stress on the clay oval which was the bigger factor in it breaking.
+What's Will Doing there's much less grip on clay than there is on asphalt. One emergency manoeuvre or a big pothole and the ball joint would have experienced much more stress than on the oval.
+Alex Wu Hmm yeah could be. I don't have any personal experience on a clay track, been to a couple races and seen how lumpy he tracks can get. Would think a pothole could put some stress on things even when slipping.

Oh man that sucks. You can see the right front drop and dig in. You need to get this fixed and put it up against the General Mayhem. Those two are a match made in heaven.

This, fucking this. if anyone from motor trend reads the comments please make this happen, or race the general mayhem and the nascarlo on the dirt oval. Regardless they need to make those two cars race somewhere not on pavement.

That sucks but if you look at it this way, that ball joint could have broken on the highway going 65mph.

Man this is legit probably my favorite car the guys have ever done!! I've got my fingers crossed that hopefully they'll remake it with another monte carlo body and make it twice as badass as the first!! I'm counting on you guys!!

I think my favorite moment is right after David hits the wall. I loved seeing Mike run over to make sure he was okay. Really shows how these guys are friends who care. Good moment. Nice to see actual down-to-earth people on Car Shows.

Far easier to take an old muscle car, lower it on stock car looking wheels and tires. U can use miss matched panels, bolt it a few cage bars, do loud exhaust etc. these guys REALLY REALLY know what they are doing and have all the tools/budget, remember they did a motor swap in the snow in the parking lot and drove it home.

actually, I don't think so. for a balljoint to fail like that, it was probably from it sitting for so long. for a ball joint to fail because of an impact, that car should have taken a pretty good hit.
so, more than likely, the ball joint just broke after being beat on by them and probably from being rotten.

+Ashish Patel Motor Trend probably acts as their own insurer. I think you can self insure in CA if you post a bond with the state and prove you have enough financial resources to cover whatever the state minimums are.

Yeah i can see in that clip that the car did a weird movement where it did dip down in the front right where it broke the ball joint. Truly roadkill fashion where they get it running and never touch the suspension and put the car through like 1 and a half Gs of force turning lol.

I hate to say this, but I think I actually like the Monte Carlo better with the roof moved back slightly. I think it actually looks better than stock lol. And that is coming from a person that actually likes Monte Carlos

One of my favorite episodes ever. The stockcar is dear to me because I'm pretty sure that's my old engine and transmission in there. I parted out my old race car after a wreck that claimed the life of my good friend and co-driver. The engine and trans (ZZ4 with Jericho) went to a guy who had a dark blue Monte Carlo with unpainted black nose. Interestingly, Freiburger used to store his project cars in our shop at the time too. Small world.
They should put an engine in a Tesla.

Early 80's, a couple friends and I towed a '67 Chevelle to Pearsonville Speedway. Enter a $200 "claimer" race. I had never raced in my life. Qualified last. They inverted the start. I was terrified! Finally towards the end of the race, I started pushing the pedal. Had a great time!
One more build of this and do a Roadtrip please. This was such an awesome build.

Iv watched this episode dozens of times and I typically exit out before the credits but I was distracted this time and when I grabbed my phone to change it I noticed all the scenes with the dog and being such a dog lover it made me smile that this episode paid tribute to her. ❤️

Looks like when he turned right to slide it he was alittle too high, then something snapped and locked the wheels to the right. I really respect guys that drive on dirt, that's alot of skill
there problem is, they dont check or replace parts. i doubt they change the oil..
the lowerballjoint popped out wich buried the wheel in the wheelwell unabling it to spin there for its like having 100% brakes on 1 wheel of the car and due to it being low the quarter pannel also dug into the ground,not a single driver out there coulda saved that one

The best thing about this episode is the body modification. You really made something that looks surprisingly good, completely precipitously. I never liked that monte carlo look until you moved the roof back and slammed it. Now I'm determined to replicate this someday!

The NASCARLO is probably my #1 favourite roadkill project car next to the disgustang and muscle truck, please bring them back
Of course you can have a VIN number. States issue them all the time for home built vehicles. I have two of them.

I remember watching this episode when it came out with my dog Trooper he was a red nose pitbull and I remember saying to him all look another pitbull you got a girlfriend and he did look at the screen and watch for a bit anytime a dog barks he would watch the TV but he passed away in 2016 so they're hanging out together in heaven just waiting for us I miss him so much

You and Finnegan should make a competitor for the NasCarlo. You stated in the video that is could either be a 70 Monte Carlo or a 74 Ford Courier. And the truck body on a stock car frame made by Roadkill would be awesome to see.
I would have completely chopped the wheel wells and threw low profile plastic flares on the fenders just to make sure the tires clear the rough cut job the cutter did

Don't let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's and ordered three T66 turbos with NOS... and a Motec system and exhaust.
I noticed the 91fwy sign then two seconds later you mentioned Perris Auto Speedway. My old stomping grounds. I lived very close to that track and used to go there all the time. If you sat in the corners you’d have to have goggles or glasses, if you valued your eyes.
