I did a royal flush build once too. Was all hearts. I died on Ante 11 when I could not find a jack. I had 8 cards left in my deck at the end with 5 of them being jacks.
@@picotacosonly because jokers can't have two effects. If he removed the tarot reward, it could fall into the same category as Four Fingers and Shortcut (and still be kinda useless)
I haven't played in months but I remember royal flush being worth the same as flush five which is strange. Duplicating the same card forty times isn't nearly as difficult as duplicating what you need for a royal. It should be the highest scoring play and be worth 4x flush five
I recently had an ace straight build on the Painted deck. Started early on with superposition, trading card and mime with a blue seal. I actually ended up selling the trading card and superposition pretty quickly to polychrome the mime with hex - but at this point I was already down to 41 cards (and drawing 10 because painted deck). Later got blueprint and the x3 on straights, as well as the voucher for +1 consumable spot - this means with my blue seal and blueprint on mime, I could get 3 saturns per blind. Quickly I didn't need the x3 anymore (my straight was leveled up enough that it just cleared the blind before applying any bonus, which I found quite funny) - and was able to sell it for a brainstorm. Around ante 8 I actually pivoted to 4 of a kind after getting the x4 on 4 of a kind joker - at this point I had like 4-5 of AQJ10 and 12 kings (I mean, gotta hope for a baron/mime build when you have mime and a blueprint as well as a red seal on a Queen I got early on and strengthened). I actually had already picked up some Mars along the way while still playing straight to give me a way out of the ox boss blind. I also got a Polychrome king with a purple seal, which I glassed and then deathed a lot (Glassing and deathing purple seals is underrated - you get pleanty of tarots while discarding them so that they don't break and then when you get in antes where you need the x2 you can send them). I later got Sock and Buskin which allowed me to retrigger my polychrome glass kings and get all the way up to 5e17 score, but sadly never got the baron. This remains my PB so far (Also I was begging for Roffle to death the purple seal for the whole video)
That's every form of poker, a royal flush is just a name for that specific straight flush Kind of like dead man's hand. Aces and Eights aren't a special rank of two pair, but if you call it dead man's hand everyone knows what you are talking about.
When you think about it really is just a type of royal flush (the strongest one) it being counted as a different hand would be like counting a wheel or deadmans as unique hands
It's actually funny there *is* a distinction. It's only for the "discard a royal flush" unlock for brainstorm I believe. Otherwise it doesn't make a difference at all I could be wrong but I think it is brainstorm that is unlocked by this

My first ever win in Balatro was a Royal flush build. Not sure how I managed to pull it off, but it was really fun how it worked out. Didn't get very far into endless when I got stuck with a boss that hurt it, but I have wanted to see more runs like this.
So what's the strategy behind playing blinds that don't give you money? Is teh info you get from playing the deck more valuable than any potential tag?
lmao literally as started watching this, I started a game that ended up with an early superposition, that was later turned polychrome, driving me towards a royal flush diamonds build. It was so weird.
If you are duplicating cards, put it on a card you want to use Otherwise put steel on cards not critical to your main hand to help you with scoring But back to the first point, if you’re deck fixing then put it on cards critical to your main hand
@StephenOwen Yeah thank you - I get the general idea when I am in the middle of deck fixing though and I need the cards I need I always feel itll be useful on a card I wont play more than a critical card. I try to put it on one close to the rank of card I am fixing to so I can strengthen it later normally. Theres just times in the middle of fixing decks that I am at a loss. I normally just follow my gut but I am still learning. Thanks for the advice - Appreciate you
They're tied to specific poker hands, so they're useful for only one poker hand each. That's their downside. Use only the ones you think you'll make use of. Neptunes were used here for Straight Flushes. From the Stone Deck build from another video, Pluto was used because an all-Stone or 4-stone-1-card hand counts as a High Card, for example.
i've watched a lot of balatro and i never thought i would ever see a royal flush build, that's insane lol
didnt expect you here.

shayy jumpscare what are you doing here
Shayy, it’s late, go play Undertale.
Omg an undertale youtuber in a balatro video

It feels like superposition should have allowed for straights to wrap around the Ace -- QKA23 just based on the name and Joker artwork
niche but still won't make it any better
Thunk confirmed, that’s not happening. Like, at all
the idea behind the naming of the card surely is that you can only make a high or low straight with it (as in, high spin and low spin)
@@picotacosonly because jokers can't have two effects. If he removed the tarot reward, it could fall into the same category as Four Fingers and Shortcut (and still be kinda useless)
Aces can be high or low but not both at the same time, if that makes sense!

Crazy I just finished a Royal Flush build! Mine wasn't as good, I got to ante 11, but it was still fun and unexpected.
It's insane I never realised straight flush and royal flush are considered the same in Balatro
They are and arent at the same time, its weird. If you play royal flush on the one hand type boss, you can only play royal flush, not straight flush
Yeah, I guess it would be strange to have a planet for that exact hand, which is likely the most rare hand ever, both before and after deck building

Ive always wanted to put a straight flush build together lol, this was very satisfying to watch
you can do it on magic deck by duping a suit changer with the free fools
it isn't the best way to play magic deck but it can be some fun
I didn't have a royal flush but a straight flush build from a first shop Runner into Four Fingers and a Shortcut. Great purple stake run.

I’ve found the royal flush build easier to get online with the checkered deck. Just for spades and hearts to deal with

Pretty hard to get royal builds going but DAMN they're satisfying when they pop off

This was so satisfying to watch, and pretty interesting and one of the harder hands to "rig".
So what's the strategy behind playing blinds that don't give you money? Is teh info you get from playing the deck more valuable than any potential tag?
Tags are sometimes not worth it. Playing small blinds builds up certain jokers, and you get money for playing from remaining hands and interest
@nittayoshifumi8252 ah, that makes sense
Also you get to see a new shop, so it's at least as good as a 5$ reroll

Are every one of your runs seeded or do you play random seeds?

What is the downside of any planet card? Why not use every one you get?
They're tied to specific poker hands, so they're useful for only one poker hand each. That's their downside. Use only the ones you think you'll make use of.
