I get a meal prep service delivered during the week because I am sooo lazy when I work and am going to school. Uncle Roger is impressed with her use of pear in the marinade for the bulgogi and is surprised when Bobby Flay adds soy sauce to his boiling water for the noodles. Uncle Roger also promotes ExpressVPN and encourages viewers to check out his upcoming tour. The video ends with a teaser for nephew Nigel’s upcoming stand-up comedy special.

Bobby Flay deserves so much credit. He has to blind cook a dish that the competing chef has made thousands of times on this show, and he wins quite often. He may not be a fancy chef, but his versatility and speed is pretty incredible.
The 'finding pickle' moment is from an American tradition that either comes from Germany or has US-based German influence from the mid- to late-1800s (depending on which version of the story you believe). Somebody hides a glass pickle ornament on the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve and the person who finds it gets some kind of prize of either special recognition, a treat, etc. So this was their play on that tradition.
You will have a hard time finding a German who has ever heard about this "German tradition". I am a German born in the former Eastern Block and heard about it just a year ago, in a video of an American saying how surprised he was that nobody here has ever heard about the pickle.
@@steemlenn8797 Exactly. It's a myth. Likely made up by somebody who got their hands on some novelty Christmas ornaments shaped like pickles, if you ask me.😂 Seriously though, it appears to be of American origin.

The joke is that Americans often have unhealthy diets characterized by use of fatty foods. Here, Bobby is making Fried Chicken and Mayonaise. Cilantro is actually in a lot of Asian foods, it just goes by a different name. It's either coriander leaves or Chinese parsley. Coriander seeds are also common to Asian cooking. Cilantro is the leaves of the coriander, while coriander spice is from the seeds.
Nigel is British and that onscreen comment was for us. We call them both coriander and no-one would use 'Cilantro' as that's Spanish and we don't have a Spanish influence.
Just want to say, that I stop the weejio because he mentioned shaolin soccer, watched the whole movie, and came back to continue watching the weejio. 10/10 movie.
First of all, crispy rice is VERY traditional in Korea, since we make it with leftover rice. Second, gochujang-mayo is NOT American, as we have been using it for the longest to dip dries fish in it.
just for a bit of context for the pickle. in some places in North America we hide a small pickle ornament on the Christmas tree, and the first guest to find it gets a small gift (or just bragging rights). I live in NB, Canada and my family has one
The funny thing is, that you could just make "Kimbap" which is basically korean sushi and throw in ALL kinds of ingredients and it'll still be authentic.
Yes it's difficult to even buy avocados in Korea lol from what I hear. But you can't put avocado in Kim bap else it's just going to be a California roll
Actually, Kimbap is not treated as a 'traditional food' in Korea, so lots of Western ingredients, including cheese, are being added in nowadays. But it is hard to buy fresh avocados in Korea, and I've never seen avocado in Kimbap.
The peeler action makes me think of Hiroyuki Sakai's legendary peeling skills with a full-sized chef knife. He'd have had 5 pears peeled in that time. Good point about only one chef doing all the work. Making the theme multiple dishes is an extremely smart move by Esther. She's obviously there to win, not to play.
From my years of watching Korean variety and cooking shows, cilantro to Koreans is like Marmite to Brits/Aussies. You either love it to pieces or hate it to death, there's no in-between..🤣
Japchae is normally considered as side dish, can be a main when there is no main dish. Esther prepared bulgogi as main so probably that's the reason to drop off the beef in Japchae in the competition to not to use the same main ingredient in two dish.
Man, Uncle Roger/Nigel truly knows his shit when it comes to cooking. Like, seriously! Been doing this for years and he can roast anyone for exactly the right reasons, impressive!

I've seen Bobby combine 고추장 with mayo a couple times before in other dishes. He seems to really enjoy that combo. Me, not so sure though…
14:00 "Auntie Esther just so nice to everyone she meets."
Yep... Uncle Roger hasn't realised she politely rejected him. *sad violin noises*
It’s amazing to see even UA-cam enjoyed watching uncle roger videos an even comment on it😮😊📌💯
@11:12 "So Korean her blood type is kimchi" NICE! 😂
Certified Korean moment
Ngl,when she saw uncle Roger said this she’s gonna laugh her ass off 11:12
Uncle Roger has moved way beyond just a crush on Auntie Esther. He's moving steight up simpville making statues of Auntie Esther at the townsquare. Now I'm rooting for him! 🥰 Auntie Esther, please give him the attention he deserves.
10:00 "Adopt a cast-iron pan today!" XD
It's just too cute the way uncle Roger just disagree in any way to say no to Aunty Esther's Cooking 😆💓
I mean, they did that whole "making Christmas making Christmas la-la-la" thing in The Nightmare Before Christmas. There was a whole song about it!
So it's definitely a thing you can do.
I would watch the hell out of an Uncle Roger cooking show, Nigel. Please do it.
13:48 look, she just say it just for sarcastic purpose 🤣🤣
I would definitely watch a cooking show with Uncle Roger as a judge
"She's a big tv star and doesn't talk to uncle roger anymore"
Says the man that is a friend of gordon ramsay 🤣
Auntie esher is th human we all want to see on reality tv with Uncle roger.
auntie esther the only person that can use different ingredients and still get uncle rogers approval. now thats respect
I understand Uncle Rogers love for Auntie Esther, she is awesome. I also hope he can do a show with her that would be so sick.
@@Scott3387 You missed the point, it doesn't matter what you name it when it's the same plant
Auntie Esther: Tries to be tricky by using home knowledge
Also Auntie Esther: Basically just describes a smorgasbord
Mmm smörgåsbord
smorgasbord is the funniest word ive ever heard
@@GenKoe6917 The fuck are you saying about my language? Fitta.
At first I thought Uncle Roger was another bored guy who started UA-cam during pandemic but his knowledge now surprise me in every video.
Just want to say, that I stop the weejio because he mentioned shaolin soccer, watched the whole movie, and came back to continue watching the weejio. 10/10 movie.
Uncle Roger is always constant!
He never disappoints 🗿🤍
Am I the only one excited about the the possibility of seeing an uncle roger cooking show?
6:21 Asian Keanu Reeve, aka, John Wok
First of all, crispy rice is VERY traditional in Korea, since we make it with leftover rice. Second, gochujang-mayo is NOT American, as we have been using it for the longest to dip dries fish in it.
That cooking show idea its gold man, you could bring old people to be judges and hayia or fuyio the shit out of professional chefs
7:16 i was hoping for uncle roger to say something about that 😂
I think we all need a auntie Esther in our lives 😮💨
I know this is kinda off topic but Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer are both great movies
Uncle Roger may not be pregnant, but he never fails to deliver.
Midwives deliver...
@@FelixMuk r/whoosh
I'm the postman, I always deliver 😂
@@jonmarionsalvador1714 stop go do your homework
nice
he was crushed when he saw him hug esther, his face says it all
Uncle Roger and Auntie Esther - a match made in Heaven. 🤩
just for a bit of context for the pickle. in some places in North America we hide a small pickle ornament on the Christmas tree, and the first guest to find it gets a small gift (or just bragging rights). I live in NB, Canada and my family has one
I would genuinely watch that show where you are the judge with Esther if it happened
I love how Uncle Roger almost broke when Bobby said “I don’t know if avocado is in Korean food or not” 😂😂
The funny thing is, that you could just make "Kimbap" which is basically korean sushi and throw in ALL kinds of ingredients and it'll still be authentic.
@@CidVeldoril sounds about right, that’s how my grandma prepared Kimbap as well
that was take feet of desk edge moment :))
Uncle Roger caught simping in 4k.
From my years of watching Korean variety and cooking shows, cilantro to Koreans is like Marmite to Brits/Aussies. You either love it to pieces or hate it to death, there's no in-between..🤣
Aussie like vegemite 😀
Japchae is normally considered as side dish, can be a main when there is no main dish. Esther prepared bulgogi as main so probably that's the reason to drop off the beef in Japchae in the competition to not to use the same main ingredient in two dish.
Man, Uncle Roger/Nigel truly knows his shit when it comes to cooking. Like, seriously! Been doing this for years and he can roast anyone for exactly the right reasons, impressive!
He does not do the writing alone, always has help of professional cooks. See description, this time „niece Ewa“.
Im so impressed how much he knows about korean food. 😲
i would love to see uncle roger on his own TV show.
Uncle Roger found a faithful Auntie Helen. I am happy for him. Keep it on, Uncle! You got that #1 uncle rizz 😉
I’m embarrassed to admit I’m happy that I have the same rice cooker as Uncle Roger. And I’m white, so I also do indeed have cast iron pans that are nicely seasoned, thank you very much.
I hope him and her become a real thing, For the ones who don't know the 2 ppl I'm talking about Esther and Uncle Roger.
