    thank u so much man. this is the vid to follow. i have a 14 santa fe gls and it was exactly the same. FYI: google search says spark gap is 0.044, however the ones I pulled out were 0.041 and the new NGK ones were pre-gapped to 0.041 as well.

    Great video, it is the same as in my 2013 Santa Fe 3.3 V6. Only addition- change the PCV valve at the same time. An OEM PCV is only 10-12 dollars. It is located behind and to the right of the last spark plug near the firewall and is EASY to get at once you have cleared everything away to get at those back plugs!

    Hands down the best car maintenance video I've seen so far. Def sub. Question, I'm at 62k with the same vehicle - do you think it's overdue for a change?

    • @WrenchingRyan
      @WrenchingRyan  Рік тому +1

      Hello and thanks for the sub. the book recommend spark plugs replacement at 60k, few days ago I had vehicle with 66k miles in it and experienced engine misfires, during my diagnosis I notice few spark plugs porcelain has cracked in it causing a misfires, customers decided to drive the vehicle for few weeks before she decided to get look at, I replaced a set of spark plugs and fixed the misfires but it’s too late to save catalyst converter. and yes you are overdue at 62k, to avoid other components failure I strongly suggest to follow factory maintenance recommendations.

    This video also worked for my 2016 Kia Sedona LX, with the exception that there are two more 10mm bolts holding up a big hose on the back of the big black box that mounts on the air intake. Those both need to come off otherwise you cannot move this black box aside. I am in the middle of this repair as we speak, I bought new coil packs but I'm unsure if it makes sense to put them in. I didn't have any misfires and I think the coil packs are still okay but I'm considering replacing them to prevent having to go through all this labor again. My Sedona has 100,000 miles on it, what do you guys think?

    • @WrenchingRyan
      @WrenchingRyan  9 місяців тому +1

      you got 100k miles in it and if you have the coil I suggest to replace them, I have another video showing a helpful trick of how to installed those two 10mm bolts on the back of intake manifold. please check it out ua-cam.com/video/FKYDFZXXdTw/v-deo.html

      @@WrenchingRyan Thanks, I got it all put back together. I sure wish I would have watched your other video first, but ultimately it all worked out. I looked at the intake valves while I had to cover off and saw that they had lots of buildup. I kind of wish I would have sprayed the intake valve cleaner through the system before replacing the spark plugs. Now I'm a bit worried that if I spray the intake cleaner all of this crud will fall off, potentially scrape up the cylinder walls and perhaps even damage the new spark plugs.

(Or just the valves) whatever the case, the things that get carbon buildup due to it being a gdi engine, I've been wanting to clean out that carbon buildup since I've got a 2019 with this same engine at 91k miles right now

    I'm really not automotively inclined and I do have a 2016 Kia Sorento EX AWD V6. I had brought the vehicle in last week Wednesday, actually for major OIL LEAKS. I guess they're gonna have my vehicle for another 2 weeks, or so and they did suggested replacing these spark plugs for like $400 something, since the the majority of this area will be broken down....otherwise, the regular price was 5-600. My power-train warranty kicked in and Kia gave me a loaner for 3 weeks in addition to footing most of the bill. I really regret buying this car and all the horror stories I've read online about their engines breaking down. To think, I've really only driven 38k miles, since purchasing said vehicle in 2017 and yes I did buy it as a USED CPO with 19k miles on it. I think I've learned my lesson and I will NEVER purchase another KIA again, regardless of their great warranties, considering you're in their service garages more than you would like to be.

    • @WrenchingRyan
      @WrenchingRyan  3 роки тому +1

      I’m sorry to hear that, Kia warranties are great the only issue here is the process is taking way too long, I had one sorento earlier this year and sat in my hoist for like months before Kia turned their green light on. Customer got a brand new engine with no cost plus they pay the rental bill.

    Thanks for the video and I just subscribed! I am planning to do this job soon but was wondering if you, as a technician working on Kias, would recommend replacing the oil pressure switch at the same time? I have a 2015 Sedona with the 3.3 motor with 110k miles and read that these switches can be a problem. AM I OK if I have reached 110K miles with no oil pressure switch problems (seems they typically fail between 60k to 90k from what I have read) or is it still a good idea to change it since I will already be taking apart much of the top end that needs to be removed to access the switch? Sorry for the long comment, but I would really appreciate your expert opinion.

    • @WrenchingRyan
      @WrenchingRyan  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you for supporting my channel. Is your oil pressure switch leaking oil? Replacing oil pressure switch is not something I recommend for few reasons, first reason will be removing fuel rail those injector seals are one time used only replacing them required special service tool, in this video ua-cam.com/video/5VH-5AMOKok/v-deo.html at 3:57 I rebuild fuel rail in Timelapse mode but you will get idea what I’m talking about, 2nd will be the coolant pipe is in the way regular socket is impossible to fit. I actually modified one of my socket to make it work, I’ve been wrenching at Kia for quite a while now and had switch issue only twice, if your oil pressure switch not leaking at 110 k miles leave it alone that switch is doing good. Good luck wrenching.

    • @coffeegirl8994
      @coffeegirl8994 2 роки тому +2

      @@WrenchingRyan Thank you so much for this reply. I know you cannot guarantee anything because no one can, but it helps to hear that this pressure switch issue is maybe not as common as some on the forums might suggest. Not attacking any of them because I understand that if you have the issue it is a big deal for you, but my switch is not leaking and I am not losing any oil nor can I identify any oil leak anywhere. It helps to hear from someone who works on a lot of these motors that if I have made it this many miles - the switch is not necessarily a problem more than anything else once a vehicle starts to get older and with higher miles. Also, needing to remove the fuel rails and replace all of the seals and struggle with even being able to reach the switch itself seems like something to leave alone unless a problem actually occurs. Again, thanks for being willing to share your expertise to help others.
