I saved up and bought a GL1 back in like 2006 to film all of our teenage nonsense/skating and ended up leaving it on top of a car which obviously killed it lol. I just found another one on ebay like a year or so ago with a new battery, bag, charger, tapes, etc for $100 shipped and had to grab it. It's been pretty rad getting back into it aside from trying to get a decent lens for it. Thus channel has definitely helped.
I have some fisheyes listed on my eBay. The gl1 is honestly pretty affordable for what you get out of it. Veledge 58mm fisheye: www.ebay.com/itm/296626199118?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ufmp3m6wrmi&sssrc=2051273&ssuid=ufmp3m6wrmi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I really dig MiniDV, because for me it's easiest to capture. Im using old sound card (Audigy 2 ZS) with firewire connector and WinDV app. It captures video in high quality, and splits it into scenes (based on date/hour set in the camera). I've started with Sony TRV-35, but 8mm tapes were really rare and expensive, so i used to record over 10+ times on one tape. Now i have Sony TRV9, with case, remote and original battery (still works for over 3 hours), bought for around hundred dollars (converted from local currency).
I never really see to many videos on the jvc gr-sz series Sz7 from 1994 and the sz9 from 1995 i have they work well and have hifi stereo and probably some of the best looking svhs camcorders
@@brandoncameracollection ther was also a panasonic model I could never find but it was a svhsc camcorder with 3ccd it was the panasonic ag3 don't know much about that one
Nice video ! I have a canon xl1 but the tape compartment is stuck, by any chance, Could you give me a picture of the interior of yours ? that I know how to repair mine
Yeah unfortunately most of the thrift stores around me just throw these old camcorders away because “they are to old and outdated” my dad used to work at one of them and he would go dumpster diving in the morning to pull out all the old camcorders and most of them worked. But I have been to some bigger cities like Phoenix and thrift stores want a lot more for stuff than they do around here

How do you deinterlace your videos?
My local thrift store sells camcorders for $80 each. I wish I could consider $15 expensive.
