- Earlier this fall I drove across the country to deer hunt in an area I had never stepped foot before. After 6 encounters with the same buck, I finally sealed the deal. This hunt was quite the rollercoaster of emotions and tested my grit on several occasions. Sometimes, things don't always go as planned in bowhunting and all you can do is move on and learn from what happened. My goal as always is to take you along for the ride and help you learn from my mistakes.

This entire saga and the way it ended is honestly one of the coolest hunts I’ve seen. I have never had that many encounters with the same buck and for you to be able to anticipate his movements and bedding is truly a testament to how far you have come as a bow hunter. I know it’s not the ending you imagined but congratulations on the beautiful buck!

Keep your head up dude. I shot at the biggest deer of my life last season and was unable to recover him. It happens. I feel as though you played it right to the best of your knowledge at the time. Nothing anyone says is gonna make you feel better, but you can’t beat yourself up over it. Crappy things happen hunting sometimes.

I am feeling you! 2 sits for me! 1 mis and 1 bad hit! Also muscle not much penetration w bad rains no blood no arrow 4 hrs searching! Waiting to go out this early before noon for a long sit in a new spot today! No more rain but freezing temps. Gotta love this stuff. At least u got him, kinda! So sorry about that! you did the right thing i shot one same way came back the next day and coyotes had a feast. I tagged it also because i know the shot killed him. it does suck but nature eats always. keep your head up you are a good hunter!

It’s always a dilemma. Sit in a good spot enough times and get a chance or bounce around and see if you can create your own luck.
