- If you've ever wondered what it would be like to shed hunt in a trophy ranch, this video is your answer. This was a fun one to make. The guys from Paradise Trophy Ranch graciously invited me to come out and spend a day shed hunting with them. We found a literal pile of antlers including whitetail deer, elk, and red stag. The hunting ranch boasts 1000 acres of high-fenced land to hunt, two lakes, a trout stream, and an additional 200 acres outside the fence for lodging and outdoor activities.

I definitely DO NOT agree with hunting a place like this, i would love to shed hunt here. But the people who come to kill here arent hunters in my opinion, they are killers. Whoever bids the highest. Thats ridiculous. and the ehd must be rampant there.
I agree, it’s not the same as fair chase. Was a blast to pick up sheds there tho. When I shed hunt public land, I’m lucky to find one shed in a whole day of walking. This was a nice change of pace lol
It’s a business brotha
110%
I agree. I’m just curious if these high fence areas will end up being the cause of diseases that will travel into the outside deer.
I don’t think so. They take a ton of precautions to prevent anything. It’s obviously an investment and big $$. The EHD thing is tough to avoid during drought years tho but luckily it only affected a few animals.
$15,000 to shoot a trophy in a pen . Not something I would brag to my buddies about but that's just me. Unfortunately with more and more developments and posted land these places will only become more popular.
I doubt they will grow in popularity. It’s obviously a really niche clientele. I’d guess most hunters would rather grind it out with whatever access they can come up with. I see more people getting into the lease game tho.
Man, you can easily trip on a shed in that place. Even if you're not hunting for sheds, you simply can't avoid them. I'd be like a kid in a candy store if i was allowed to spend a couple hours there.
Nice. You can really tell how healthy these animals are in those farms by how many dead carcasses are laying around everywhere. 😂😢
All of those were EHD except for one that got gored by another buck in the rut...
Holy fuck those high fenced deer get that big
Nice finds 👍💯. Keep up the hard work. Stay safe out there. Keep racking them up
Thank you! Appreciate you!
Incredible! Sad to see EHD taking some of this big ones out!
Definitely a bummer but could have definitely been worse as dry as last year was.
What’s ehd
@@darreljr2542 A disease that these high fence places are causing to break out in to wild populations.
Pretty cool to see some of them running around in there. Those are just massive!
Definitely nuts how big some where...
I would love to to find sheds like those
It’s definitely fun
All of dose sheds is something that is in my dreams
It was pretty awesome and a ton of fun!
I think you'll find they now call sheds "Tiny Houses"
Not these ones...
At the shop we have a deer that we scored at 326 and its been mounted for 7 weeks and we have called the customer 7 times and sent 2 regestered letters and no answer. But he was disapointed when he brought it in and he did not measure 350, because he paid 10.000 for him and was told he would easy go over 350. This happens all the time, and it isnt as though they dont like the workmanship, because they don't even come back to see it.
Dang man those are HUGE would I be able to shed hunt there sometime.
Damn what a haul 😂
You aint lying lol...Think I found as many in one day as the rest of my life combined...
Do you get to keep any of the sheds or does the outfitter keep them
Nice shed at 5:18 he’s gonna be massive next year
You ain’t neva lied
Not really he dead
It’s crazy to think that deer can get that fucking big. I understand it is high fence but my god those are just insane.
Definitely crazy to see how big some of them get. Almost feel bad they have to carry around so much headgear.
They are being fed funky food that causes the big thick non typical racks. Those are not natural
That’s badass but let’s not forget this is not real hunting in real life sheds would have been much more spread out the land would have been much less open making you have to work way harder for what you did find. With a real wild elk herd you would never get that close to them before they were half way to Canada. And dear lord we don’t even have to say anything about the buffalo
Oh, no doubt. I've shed hunting all over the midwest and usually am lucky to find one or two in a day of walking my tail off (usually not even that many). This was 100% just for fun.
I walk up to elk all the time, moose, white and mule deer. Bears also. When you hunt a lot you just naturally use the wind and don't make much noise. And I don't think you've been out west, buffalo give zero shits and you can walk up to them and touch them if your balls are big enough
Just a business folks as much as you dislike it its a thriving business for wealthier folk, there just trying to make a living like everyone else!
Also tbh! high fence actually has pretty good prices on doe/management bucks as well, not a horrid way to determine if you like hunting. (well not hunting, but the literal killing portion OF hunting)
That’s a valid point… clearly they are doing just fine and lots of people are willing to pay.
100% no real difference than longhorn or watusi breeding either, both are incredible specimens for there species and are bred for meat and horns!@@NextStepOutdoors
I disagree, as I have hunted plenty of high fence ranches. It is not as easy as some of ya'll think. It is still definitely a hunt not all high fence ranches are a petting zoo just have to pick the right one. Here in texas I can promise you it's still a blast and you could never kill animals this mature or this big on a low fence as people do not give them the opportunity to fully mature.
Can I come shed hunting with you guys you guy are my favorite
You never know!!
Shed picking**
(All in love, have fun ya’ll)
For once in my life!!! Usually it’s more like just hiking 🥾
@@NextStepOutdoors oh i live in new york my friend, it’s usually more like searching for twigs
Were you guys aloud to take them all home?
How do you determine it’s a 15k dollar buck ? How do you determine value on bucks?
Why would you shed hunt at a deer farm
Seemed like a good place to find some antlers 🤘🏻
How many acres is this place?
I like that you tell the truth you're antler hunting a high fence ranch . You didn't pull a Keith Warren and make shit up
Did he really do that? 😅🤣
Shed hunting in a zoo, that looks exciting lol
Just have to watch out for the gators
@@NextStepOutdoors In Michigan? Alrighty
So what eats the dead ones? Are there coyotes there as well or buzzards
Good question. I’m really not sure…
@@NextStepOutdoors 😂 leaves you to wonder doesn’t it?
I recall someone saying there are bobcats in there , as well as black bears that climb over the high fence? I could be wrong. Otherwise buzzards and crows is probably it!
Me personally I think this is flexing bc I live in Georgia and you can rarely find these 😂

@Kam_901 seek one bro?
Let me know if you guys want to sell any sheds. Thanks,
Sounds good!
Whoever calls these “trophies” gives actual hunters a bad reputation…
You never know the situation. Heard a few stories about how someone with a terminal illness wanted to kill a big buck in their lifetime, so they went to a ranch to do it. I’m sure to that person it was a trophy. I don’t think anyone is arguing that it’s the same as hunting elsewhere.
@@NextStepOutdoors will all due respect that’s a BS answer. You can’t make a sympathy story reflect the whole. The fact is 99.9% of business to “trophy” ranches are pay to kill raised animals in a high fence. Your last sentence is also BS. That’s why no record books considers these animals, also seeing most comments, not only on this channel, people don’t consider this hunting. Hell a lot of places you can pick the exact animals you want to shoot. To do this is one thing, to claim this is hunting is embarrassing on your part.
My last sentence is saying that no one is trying to claim that hunting in a high fence ranch is the same as free range hunting bud. I’m not sure who pissed in ur wheaties. I got a chance to go scoop a bunch of antlers and made a video about it.
@@nateuhrich3153 pretty sure it's people like you who give hunters a bad reputation , if you're not running down your deer and then choking them out you're clearly cheating and getting an unfair advantage
@@sunstruckfarms4489 yep he’s one of those that if you so much as wear a different brand of camo then him, he will say you’re not a real hunter
Canned venison steroid fed CWD because there's too many animals on the property disgraceful
I'm not particularly interested in hunting high fence deer but I don't have anything against it or the people who enjoy it. The deer and stags evaded us the whole time we were in there so I think it's a bit extreme to say there's an unhealthy amount of animals in there. The elk didn't seem to mind as much as long as we didn't get too close but there was plenty of room to roam.
Damn straight #NextStepOutdoors
Really called “1000+ acres” for elk “a lot of room” ridiculous… We should keep in mind though high fence hunting is for rich city slickers who just want a nice “accent piece” in their “lounge” it is not for real woodsmen who feel the connection to the animals and to the land they passionately and intensely care for and maintain every day of their lives…
I agree completely that high fence hunting is not "real hunting" and is typically reserved for those willing to write a big check to kill a "once in a lifetime" type animal with no work on their part. No debate on any of that. It was a super cool experience just getting to see some of the animals that I haven't had much experience around. 1000 acres is not anywhere comparable to an elk's normal ranch but they also aren't migrating to lower elevations to find food and to get out of the weather or dealing with wolves/bears. It didn't have the lion in a small zoo enclosure feel. By "a lot of room", I mean they have plenty opportunity to run and hide etc.
I call all of fenced deer FAKE deer
This was strictly for fun. If you like deer, there’s no way you can tell me you wouldn’t enjoy picking up antlers, regardless of where it was. It’s like an Easter egg hunt for hunters.
Holy crap, what do they feed those deer??
I think some type of protein/grain combo. I'm sure they are well fed all year round.
Cupcakes apparently
Mini muffins* lol
Probably Record Rack
Its not regular grains. Modified to cause non typical growth
can i come shed hunt there for my first ever time with me and my parents. plz.
I wish! This was a special invite.
darn it well i guess i can go to my grandmas we found a poched buck and the shoutgun shell it was shoot bye once it decomposses i can go back out and grab the antleers
@@NextStepOutdoors
Why would someone poach a deer and leave it?
i dont know but we called the game warden and he did nothing about it it was a 12 gage shell and a red shell and it was about 30 feet away from the road and the shot the leg of it and it dropped and died.@@NextStepOutdoors
It is not shed hunting
You have two first names, so I’ll let your comment slide…
Did you keep the deadheads
Maybe....
On a side note, how many animals are on property there?
Good question and I really have no clue. We saw a good amount of elk but the whitetail and stags were a little more evasive. It's 1000+ acres fenced in so there's lots of room.
@@NextStepOutdoors you mentioned something like a 15k deer and I’m just trying to figure out how many 15k deer there are there. Like is that common for a ranch to have a lot of those?
I doubt it would actually cost that much to buy a hunt for a buck like that but they are definitely pricey. Some of the pics of the bucks they kill in there are ridiculous.
@@NextStepOutdoors honestly, I’d be more interested in the massive typicals over the bucks with all the crazy shit. Biggest I’ve seen was what I thought a massive 10 but compared to these, it was small lol.
I don’t think you can call “1000+ acres” “a lot of room” considering the average home range of a bull elk is 63,000 acres and a cow elk being 38,000 acres
What all species do they have
Whitetails, elk, red stag, and bison I believe.
That's not shed hunting.... it's shed picking up
It was a nice change of pace from my normal experience shed hunting 😅
It’s called cheating
What is called cheating?
😂380😂
What’s so funny
Maybe 300 😂
Did they let you keep them sheds?
I was able to keep a handful thankfully!
@@NextStepOutdoors any of the giants?
most of the freshies, they wanted to keep to compare year over year growth. I took a couple good ones though. None of the giant non typical though. One smaller stag shed too.
@@NextStepOutdoorsthat’s what we do at the ranch I work at.
Like looking for candy in a hmmmmm candy store
Can u keep them??
I was able to keep a few luckily but I think they like keeping them to compare year over year growth.
How do you get to do that
Have to know a guy who knows a guy…
How do i do this? Can I pay to do this?
This was a closed invitation. A couple of my buddy's help guide hunts in there.
@@NextStepOutdoors that's cool. Thanks for the content
Glad you liked it man!
What’s insane people would pay 15k for a fenced deer
I don't disagree. I think those people are in a wayyyyy higher tax bracket than we are lol
@@NextStepOutdoors oh yaaaaa wayyyyy
@@NextStepOutdoors but that being said, even if I made a half $1 million a year I still wouldn’t spend 15 grand to kill a deer
I'm with you. My guess is most of these people don't hunt a lot. They just want the biggest buck on the wall possible. I see it as an apple to oranges comparison. Two different things.
I’m in Ohio and I don’t know where u talking but they all don’t look like that here not even close

I think the title of the video is literally exactly what this video is about
This is not shed hunting because you literally own these deer
I don't any deer. Regardless, is an Easter egg hunt not a hunt because you own the Easter eggs?
This isn’t real. Real hunters know what’s up
No one is claiming it’s the same as free range bud.
I wouldnt go near a high fence place, its not hunting at all and I dont care if you call it a business..ITS A JOKE!
Not even if you got invited to pick up all the shed antlers?

@@NextStepOutdoors unless you’re disabled I think it’s unethical. They call it hunting not shooting it’s like going to a farm and shooting a caged animal. What a joke
