  • Hi there! Today we have a video about our Dark Brown Henna Dye.
    The process can be a little confusing, so we wanted to make things easier for you to understand.
    In this video, you will see how the henna is prepared for application.
    You can get the Dark Brown Powder here:
    www.thehennaguys.com/products...
    Why should you choose The Henna Guys?
    Our dye is 100% natural with no chemicals or additives. It's PPD free. Our products are vegan and cruelty-free. Our dye:
    Colors naturally
    Promotes hair growth
    Helps improve manageability
    Conditions hair and adds shine
    Continuous use helps improve overall hair health
    Ingredients:
    🌿 Henna (Lawsonia inermis): Pure henna, milled into powder form before undergoing a triple-sifting process, forms the red-orange base of our henna hair dyes. We create different shades by blending henna with other natural ingredients.
    🌿 Indigo (Indigofera tinctoria): When applied alone, pure indigo powder imparts a green- or blue-tinged tone to darker hair and is colorless on white and gray hair. When mixed with henna powder, indigo creates various shades of auburn, brown or black. However, red undertones usually appear in all colors but black.
    🌿 Amla (Phyllanthus Emblica): Amla, a type of Indian gooseberry, boosts overall hair and scalp health when used as a hair mask or as an ingredient in henna hair dye. It promotes scalp circulation, helps strengthen roots and the scalp, enhances color, encourages hair growth, reduces the chance of premature graying and pigmentation loss, and helps improve manageability.
    🌿 Bhringraj (Eclipta alba): Also known as false daisy, bhringraj promotes hair growth and helps reduce thinning. Bhringraj has antifungal and antimicrobial properties and helps boost scalp health. It softens and conditions hair, reduces the likelihood of hairfall, and helps prevent early graying.
    🌿 Neem (Azadirachta indica): This natural antiseptic is packed with nutrients to help ward off hair and scalp dryness, dandruff, premature graying and poor scalp circulation. Neem is thought to stimulate hair growth and help reduce environmental hair damage.
    Allergy Warning: Although our henna hair dye is made with natural ingredients, sensitivities and allergic reactions to even natural products are possible. If you do not know your allergies, Always start by doing a strand/skin test before applying any henna.
    Disclaimer: Individual results may vary. These are 100% natural products, and benefits are not guaranteed. Outcome may be affected by other factors like the type of shampoo or conditioner being used, as well as any other chemical hair treatments in the present or past that may affect results.

    How to apply:
    Our Dark Brown Henna is a two-step process.
    Process 1: Pure Henna
    1. In a glass bowl, mix pure henna with warm distilled water until you get a yogurt consistency. (You can use black coffee or black tea)
    2. Once mixed, allow the henna to complete dye release process for 8-10 hours. If it hardens after 8-10 hours, simply add a few drops of water to loosen it again.
    3. Divide your hair into four sections (this makes it easier to apply the henna to all your hair). Start from the roots of your hair and work your way down to the tips, making sure the strands are entirely covered. Once done, cover your hair with a shower cap (or saran wrap), and let the henna sit on your hair for 3 hours.
    4. After the 3 hours, rinse the henna from your hair using cool water until the water runs clear.
    5. Prepare the Dark Brown powder while your hair dries.
    (Please be aware that after this first step, your hair will look/be red. Don't be alarmed. The second step will give you the brown color you're going for)
    Process 2: Dark Brown
    1. In a glass bowl, mix the dark brown powder with warm, distilled water until you reach a yogurt consistency. (If you want a richer brown, you can use black brewed coffee or black tea instead- it doesn't matter if its caffeinated or not).
    2. Let the dark brown mixture activate for 40 minutes. If it hardens, just add a few drops of water (or coffee) to loosen it up.
    3. Divide your hair into four sections. Start applying the henna from root to tip, making sure all your hair is covered.
    4. Cover your hair with a shower cap/saran wrap, and let the mixture sit on your hair for at least 3 hours (the longer you leave it on, the darker the brown will be).
    5. Rinse hair out with cool water until the water runs clear.
    6. Enjoy your new hair color!

    Hi! I guess I'm a little confused with my purchases. Previously, I have dyed my hair for a while with your guys' natural red henna and I loved it. I've been doing that for a few months. Just recently I wanted to try brunette, like a deep chocolate color. I purchased medium brown and dyed my hair with it today, but it still just looks very red, almost the same as before. Did I do something wrong? What do you recommend in order to get to a dark brown, should I try this two step process and try the dark brown henna? Or should I just buy indigo powder because I have a red base? I'm not sure. Thank you:)

      Hi Sara! Absolutely, the main part is to have grey coverage. Dark brown needs the red base. Since your hair has the red you are all good to use dark brown right away:) Hope this helps!

    Firstly. love, LOVE your products! Tried for the first time and did a mix of light and medium brown and it was awesome. Also did the med brown on its own. Can't believe how well this stuff works, was really not expecting that and prepared to have to redo/ 'fix' it etc.
    Question: What exactly is in the Dark Brown packet? (not the pure Henna one it also comes with). Is that just indigo with the other nourishing items mentioned in the vid, or is there any henna in there as well? I guess I'm asking, if you want it less dark, do you just use less of it/ leave it on for less time? like how do you control for diff. darkness levels with indigo.
    Edit: just wanted to add: I already have the medium brown package, too, but if I want a color that's not quite dark brown but not medium either (ie an in-between shade), then what would you suggest? I also got your alma powder and indigo alone too so I can 'customize' and experiment/diy each time. :) So do you suggest adding in some alma to the dark brown mix, or adding indigo to the medium brown mix?

    • @TheHennaGuys
      @TheHennaGuys  3 роки тому +4

      Dark brown contains henna, indigo, amla, bhringraj and neem powders. To make the medium brown slightly darker, I would recommend adding in 1-2 tablespoons of the dark brown powder. Make sure to use black coffee as the liquid, to help deepen the color more. -Hilary

    How long are the mixtures stable once mixed? It says to let the henna sit 8-10 hours, but how long can it rest before you have to use it?

    • @TheHennaGuys
      @TheHennaGuys  9 місяців тому +1

      The pure henna and the dark brown have different resting times. The pure henna should be used within 12 hours of mixing. The dark brown should be used after 45 mins of resting. The dark brown has indigo in the mixture and will develop faster than the pure henna, this is why it has a shorter rest time and will need to be used after mixing.

    Question 🙋🏻‍♀️ So the 2nd packet is just indigo, neem and Amla? No henna mixed in that as well. Wouldn’t that make it black? That sounds like a regular degular 2 step for black hair. If so I’m glad I seen this. I will mix the two to a 25/75 henna indigo for dark brown hair.

    I find that this isn't completely true. It doesn't need to be smooth as cake batter to coat your hair, it just helps a lot to have it be smooth like yogurt. And metal bowls didn't effect my colour. It still had the same colour as when I used plastic bowls and lasted just as long. Also salt doesn't do anything at all. I'm not even sure how that one got started because there is no proof that. Even the family from India that lives across from me has said the same hint but they highly recommend oil as it is really good for the hair like a conditioner and it helps the henna out a lot keeping the shine and colour enrichment, and they're right. It is amazing. Thank you for the video though. I always enioy seeing how different people use henna when it comes to their hair. Thank you again for the informative video.

      @TheHennaGuys  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Cathleen! Thank you for providing insight from your henna experience. A lot of people often have similar questions and it's great to hear from fellow henna users. You are completely right about metal bowls not effecting the color. We only recommend not using metal because it helps to oxidize the dye. Everyone's experience with henna and adding additional substances like salt is different. We do recommend adding 1 teaspoon of salt for colors with indigo/indigo only, like Jet Black, to help with grey coverage. Oil and conditioners are wonderful for your hair and adding in addition to the henna mixture! Thank you again! This information can be very helpful for henna users.

      Yes, you will not experience any damage using henna on top of chemically treated hair. You will notice henna will actually help repair damaged hair. Always do a strand test to see how the henna colors your hair & be aware that the henna will have to strip the chemicals from your hair before it can color your hair, and it may take 2-3 applications for the henna to color properly.

    • @TheHennaGuys
      @TheHennaGuys  Рік тому

      Hello! The dark brown shouldn't come out with a warm tone, it only makes hair darker. Definitely do a strand test if you are worried about the results. I recommend using brewed coffee or tea as the liquid base and adding 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to the mixture. If she has longer/thicker hair, you can increase the amount to 2 - 3 teaspoons. The ACV will help with gray coverage, though since they are stubborn and if the hair is new to henna, it might take a second application before the hair will really take/get used to the henna.

      Oh goodness! We're sorry about that. For step 1, you will need to completely rinse the henna out of your hair and let it fully dry. Then after your hair is completely dry, you can start step 2.

    Thats too much! Its basically a 6 hour process to dye your hair! Why can't you just do them together?

      Doing the steps together can result in a lighter coverage. The pure henna gives a base color to white or grays hairs, helping to get that darker color.

      It won’t work together. It’s a long process but it’s worth it because it leaves your hair shiny and luxurious for months
