I just did my first Henna and Indigo dye treatment. I was hoping all I needed was the 1 step process, however, I ended up needing to do the two step process. I was just touching up my roots, I just wanted to get the gray roots. With the one step process I did add indigo to the henna. I allowed my henna mixture to sit overnight. Then in the morning I mixed my indigo. I allow 20 - 30 minutes for the indigo dye release. The 1 step process my grays came out auburn, so then I did the 2nd step with just indigo with a little aloe vera. I am now waiting to see how it looks once I rinse out the 2nd step.

Need patience for this process.. good 👍.. it's been 6 years i use this idea results always 100% ... Remember don't wash your hair with chemical shampoo or soap..
There are some solutions you can try. Just keep indigo for 1-2 hrs not more. Choose right indigo powder. Add few drops of essential oil for smell. When mixing the paste, try not to inhale any particles. Apply and wrap quickly: Apply the indigo and wrap your hair quickly after mixing.
I tried this today and it worked amazingly on my hair. Thanks for the detailed application procedure and other information. Adding aloevera and amla powder to the henna really helped. I did exactly as you said and applied indigo only to grey part that is the front top portion of my head. So, my problem now is that the top front of my head is jet black and the rest of my hair is my natural dark brown. 😅😅 But that isn't much of a pain considering how well it covered my grey hair. 🙂🙂
Thanks for sharing. If you like apply indigo to the whole hair 😃. You can also try 1-step with henna indigo which give you brown 😃. ua-cam.com/video/UFyyFgAKfvM/v-deo.html
Any good herbal mild shampoo is good (without sulphate and paraben) Oil is not required, but if you want just few drops of some hair oil in damp hair (like coconut)
Thank you somuch for sharing very helpful video, I have a question my hair is white and I don’t want use chemicals color so I want to use henna plus indigo but my scalp is very sensitive, I always have oil in my hair but sometimes is itchy so should I use henna plus indigo please let me know. Thank you 🙏
Yes use only natural products without any other ingredient. make sure you shampoo 2-3 times properly to remove all oil from your scalp. Do not put oil after henna and indigo. Put after few days, only little, in damp hair.
@@HennaStyles Thank you somuch for reply, How long should I keep mehandi? And after mehandi I should shampoo? Indigo you said I should I use in damp hair right? And how long should I keep it indigo? And should I do after indigo?
2-4 hrs mehendi. Then wash just with water. Within 0-72 hrs apply indigo on dry hair. Keep indigo for 1-2 hrs. Then wash just with water. Then shampoo and conditioner after 2-3 days.
Hello Ma'am. Thank you for the detailed step wise video. Actually I have followed this method recently for the last one month. I found that after washing the application of indigo mixture, my hair become rough. So I applied (hibiscus+aloevera extract) oil for 24 hours and then washed with shampoo. As you mentioned in the video, shall I stop applying oil?? But overall results are very satisfying
Thanks. Try not to apply oil after indigo. You should add aloe vera powder in indigo too. After you wash the indigo apply only few drops of oil or serum in damp hair.
Hiiii!! 😀😀😀😀Thank you so much for this video!!! Question for you. What if the 2nd step organic indigo powder that you added salt and water to doesn't turn indigo color before you apply it on the hair??? 😥😭😭😭😭😭 Usually, the indigo powder turns indigo/bluish within 10 mins of mixing the indigo powder, salt and water, however, this time it remained green at the time of application on my hair. Will it still turn my hair black? I did the 1st step and it was fine. Thank you so much if you can reply. 😊🙏
I used to do 2 step henna indigo over my natural medium to dark brown hair for years (no greys) and it made my hair jet black (not natural black but box dye jet black). I loved how healthy it made my hair look, however when I decided to lighten my hair back to brown nothing would take the green tones of indigo out of the hair, not even bleaching, the only way was to grow the hair out.
Oh sorry to hear. I recommend one-step henna indigo mostly. If you do not want very black. I never had a problem of green hair, but i heard it a lot. Its always safer to start will less indigo in one step.
@@anon7641 I always had luck dying my hair over henna and indigo. The only thing is lightening it was very difficult. It’s hard for bleach to get through all those layers. It can wear away but that will takes months probably a year without doing your hair. It’s best just to do root touch ups and not layer henna/indigo over and over. Especially if there are plans to change hair. Actually if someone is ever thinking about lightening hair skip the the henna and indigo.
Thank you for sharing information on reasons for fading and care after treatment. I wanted this information as most of d times indigo colour got faded very soon. My reason was heavy hair oil application after henna indigo treatment..Thanks
Thank you for these videos :) I have a question... why do you use aloe vera powder and use tea instead of water? It also seems like you apply it cold? So many places say the henna needs to be warm or it won't work, and I don't understand the benefits of tea, aloe vera, hibiscus or any other herbs?
Aloe vera is good to add moisture. Amla for hair growth, maintain curls and strength. Tea water is just to add a little acid to get more color and stick better. You can make a thick paste and add little warm water later if you feels its cold. Hibiscus is slso very good herb to add for hair health
@@HennaStyles I just did the indigo earlier today and I’m just shocked at my results! My hair roots are so plump and soft wow! How often should I do hennas? Thanks for your reply
After the 1st step you say to start the 2nd step within 72 hours. Should I wait 72 hours until the 2nd step or should I do it same day? Great video btw
After you wash henna, you can apply just after or within 72hrs meaning any time between you wash henna and until it is 72 hrs. I prefer apply indigo next day. You do patches or root touch ups when you do not want to apply on whole hair. But you can apply on all hair. Specially if u have grey everywhere.
Thank you so much for this detailed demo (and for including a follow-up of how your client's hair looks after a few days and a few weeks)! I do have one question: what is the purpose of the tea tree essential oil? I haven't seen that recommended elsewhere and am curious what its benefit is.
You can add any essential oil which is good for hair and scalp. Rosemary is my another favourite. The essential oil enhanced the color of henna. And tea tree and rosemary essential oils are best for hair and scalp.
Wow! Thank you for this!! What do you suggest for roots having grays? My mom has medium brown hair (dyed it her whole life ) and I want to do henna on her and keep the medium brown/dark brown and covering her grays .. do you still recommend I do this two step? Or should I risk it and do dark brown henna (henna and indigo)
You can apply after washing indigo. Try to apply few drops of oil or hair serum in damp hair. Not a lot of oil. Not in dry hair. Oil will remove color quicker from hair.
Hi Henna Styles, thank you so much! This video has finally explained in a way that I could understand. I have been considering dying my brown hair with 30% gray with henna for a while. But my hair is very dry. Can I still use henna? Is there a way to color it without drying it even more? Also to keep it brown, and also cover the gray, do you recommend a 1step or 2 step process? Thank you so much for the video again! Keep posting please ;)
Thanks so much. Always add 1tsp aloe vera powder in 100gms of henna or indigo. Add few drops of tea tree essential oil in henna. After you wash indigo you can apply few drops of oil or serum in damp hair. Start with one step first. 50-50 then increase indigo in one step if you want darker. If you think you need very black then go for 2-step
Thank you for this great video. I (26M) am new to this & tried the process but couldn't get the black hair-color right. I got quite dark color (still orange-ish & darker than shown in the video) from the henna application. The hair were mostly dark black right after the indigo step but turned to dark brown after I shampooed them 2 days after the application. This is what I did - Day 1 - Washed hair with shampoo, dried off, applied henna and washed off with normal water later Day 2, 3 - Washed hair with normal water Day 4 - Washed hair with water, dried off, applied indigo, washed off with water later Day 5, 6 - Washed hair with normal water Day 7 - Shampooed hair, much of black color came out After this process, as a habit, I wash my hair with water every day and shampoo them every 3 days. That dark brown color has now lightened to orange in 6 weeks. Should I not wash my hair this frequently during and/or after the process?
After day 1, just apply indigo on day 2 and wash with plain water after. Then on day 5 wash with shampoo ans conditioner. Touch up every 4-8 weeks when ever required. You can also try 1-step some times.
Hi there! Thank you for the video! I've been trying to dye my greys with henna and indigo from The Henna Guys. Have you used that brand before? I haven't had luck as my hair stays red/orange even after keeping the indigo on for about 4 hours. Do you have any additional tips? I'm trying to color the greys to black hair or at lease very dark brown.
I have heard it is a good brand but have’t tried it yet. As soon as you mix indigo apply and even in 1-2hrs it turns the hair black. The dye release time of indigo is very short. Please follow all the tips in my video.
@@HennaStyles Thank you so much for replying! I applied the indigo after letting it sit for 10 minutes and kept it in my hair for 4 hours. I had let the henna sit out for about 8 hours or so (as stated on the box) and kept that in my hair for 4 hours. My greys are actually more white than grey. I used black tea in the henna. I did it on wet hair though and noticed in the video that you applied on your friend's hair when it was dry. Few more questions: 1) Would applying it on damp or dry be better? 2) At this point my new white hairs have grown in about 2 inches, can I try again or is it best when it is less than two inches of grow out? 3) Is a black tea bag ok or does it have to be looseleaf tea? 4) In the video it looks like you are also adding tea water in the indigo powder but mentioned using regular water. Does it matter which one or can I use tea for indigo as well? Thank you again! :). You're so great!

Nahi. Henna aur tea water sab natural remedies hai. Hairfall dusare reasons se hota hai. Chemical dyes etc se.
@HennaStyles no chemical dye krte hi nahi
Heena Or indigo ka 2 step hi follow krte hai
Your client has a young face but had soo much natural grey hair. 😢😢😢😢😢😢 This dye did a good job.
Thank you. Yes she is really happy with the results 😊
@@HennaStyles Hi, can you please tell us what the tea tree oil does for the henna?
Very nice results❤❤. I wish I can use indigo too. It somehow gives me a headache 😢
Hi!! 😀 Thank you for this video. What happens if you dont add the tea water, but only amla and henna powder in the mixture?
You can add just water
Can indigo be applied after oiling hair
No. Oil will create a barrier and color will not attach to the hair.
Which shampoo and hair oil are you using after this henna indigo process ?
Any good herbal mild shampoo is good (without sulphate and paraben)
Oil is not required, but if you want just few drops of some hair oil in damp hair (like coconut)
@@HennaStyles thanks for answering
You are too early bird i think
What is indigo
Thank you so much, your video is crystal clear and clarified all my doubts.
I am glad you like it ♥️
Thank god for this video. I haven’t applied indigo yet but the henna turned my hair red like that and I got so scared bc I bought black.
After hair wash with plan water can we apply oil
Little oil or serum in damp hair (not a lot of oil, and not in dry hair) oil will remove color quicker from hair.
@@HennaStyles
Thank you somuch for reply,
How long should I keep mehandi? And after mehandi I should shampoo?
Indigo you said I should I use in damp hair right? And how long should I keep it indigo? And should I do after indigo?
2-4 hrs mehendi. Then wash just with water. Within 0-72 hrs apply indigo on dry hair. Keep indigo for 1-2 hrs. Then wash just with water. Then shampoo and conditioner after 2-3 days.
Hello😀😀I’m from Sri Lanka
Your Channel is amazing. I❤️it.
Thank you so much ❤️
Hello Ma'am.
@@HennaStyles okay.
Thank you 💖

Thank you so much ❤️
Nice informative video
Thanks 😊
Pls suggest best brand of Indigo powder
Which country you are in?
In winter it might takes a little longer. Also check the quality of the indigo and how old it is.
Thanks so much for this great video with the detailed photos
Glad it was helpful!
No chemical treatment on indigoed hair! its a disaster - green is the only outcome! LOL!
@@HennaStyles so if you want yet black the two- step process is better than the One-step?
2-step
Thank you for sharing information on reasons for fading and care after treatment. I wanted this information as most of d times indigo colour got faded very soon. My reason was heavy hair oil application after henna indigo treatment..Thanks
Thank you 😊♥️ Apply less hair oil in damp hair. Use herbal mild shampoo and conditioner
Why are you using tea water with indigo but then saying use only water ??
You don’t need to use tea water. For indigo you just need plain water 😊
I am following ur process..its works perfectly. Thanks for the video 🙏🙏
Thank you so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Do you use 1 step(henna&indigo) for touch ups,?
Yes we can do one step with more % of indigo for root touchups. If you do regularly it become darker.
@@HennaStyles thanks
Thank you.. Clear explanation..
Thank you ♥️
Thank you for these videos :) I have a question... why do you use aloe vera powder and use tea instead of water? It also seems like you apply it cold? So many places say the henna needs to be warm or it won't work, and I don't understand the benefits of tea, aloe vera, hibiscus or any other herbs?
Aloe vera is good to add moisture. Amla for hair growth, maintain curls and strength. Tea water is just to add a little acid to get more color and stick better. You can make a thick paste and add little warm water later if you feels its cold. Hibiscus is slso very good herb to add for hair health
@@HennaStyles thank you very much :) my hair actually got darker for the first time due to your advice
Use distilled water if you decide to use water!
@@froggu6623 Henna can straighten hair texture over time so Amla helps keep your natural texture if you want of course.
I got henna and indigo with amla and aloe Vera powder in it and I must say my scalp and hair feels good I’m going to leave it on for a few hours
Yes its very good for hair and scalp ❤️❤️❤️
@@HennaStyles I just did the indigo earlier today and I’m just shocked at my results! My hair roots are so plump and soft wow! How often should I do hennas? Thanks for your reply
Its natural so there is no harm if you repeat frequently. Once in a few weeks is good. I usually recommend touchups once in a 4-8 weeks.
After the 1st step you say to start the 2nd step within 72 hours.
Should I wait 72 hours until the 2nd step or should I do it same day?
Great video btw
Also you said to only use it in patches, I want to dye all of my hair black. Is this something you recommend?
Thank you! @@HennaStyles
Yes 2-steps and the just root touchups as and when needed. 😀👍🏻 you should try both. 1-step and 2-step.
When to apply Hair oil after Indigo application??
You can apply after washing indigo. Try to apply few drops of oil or hair serum in damp hair. Not a lot of oil. Not in dry hair. Oil will remove color quicker from hair.
What kind of indigo power become purplish black after soaking? Mine remained green only.
Pure indigo always turns violet in 10-15 mins.
Can we use for facial hair?
Yesss
Thank you so much for your reply, very helpful!!! And keep posting :)
@@HennaStyles Hi. Can I add my favorite essential oil instead of tea tree oil? Thank you for your great video.
Yes the ones which are good for hair.
I love your video, you really help me a lot.
I'm so glad! Thank you 😊🙏🏻
Thank you for this great video. I (26M) am new to this & tried the process but couldn't get the black hair-color right. I got quite dark color (still orange-ish & darker than shown in the video) from the henna application. The hair were mostly dark black right after the indigo step but turned to dark brown after I shampooed them 2 days after the application. This is what I did -
Day 1 - Washed hair with shampoo, dried off, applied henna and washed off with normal water later
Day 2, 3 - Washed hair with normal water
Day 4 - Washed hair with water, dried off, applied indigo, washed off with water later
Day 5, 6 - Washed hair with normal water
Day 7 - Shampooed hair, much of black color came out
After this process, as a habit, I wash my hair with water every day and shampoo them every 3 days.
Don't wash your hair daily.
Only once or twice a week as told in video.
The process of colour greying will slow down
I use sulfate free shampoo and stay away from harsh sunlight as possible .This has always given me good results .
@@schatdent7011 can you share which shampoo you use?
Mild or herbal shampoos, no sulphate or paraben
Can i add natural aloevera gel in indigo instead of aloevera powder?
Yes. But powder is more concentrated and you will need very little. Gel you will need to add more.
Such a great video!
I loved your video. Can you do Henna again the following week? You see, I do henna weekly on my hair. So does the henna remove the indigo?
No, you can do without any issues. You might want to do one-step or two-step with indigo if needed
Yes, I was also wondering about adding the water to the indigo. It looked like tea water. Can we do either regular water or tea water???
Regular warm water for indigo.
can i add shikakai powder and alma powder as well in hena?
Amla powder you should always add. Shikakai is also good herb you can add to henna.
Great video! Very easy to understand and follow your directions. I have the gray hair around the front of my hair, simular to the lady in your video. I think the 2 step method would probably work for me. I also have red Raj henna powder. Can you do a video on how to properly use this? Especially because I do have the gray hair in the front. Thanks again!😊
Red henna and henna are same.
Itching is common problem with indigo
I like the details in this video and how she answered all my questions ^__^
