Bakugan was the biggest toy ever! (for about 4 years) - Ігри
BAKUGAN, the toy everyone had, but nobody knew how to play
i still dont know how to play
I knew how xd
True
PixlJermy true
Same with Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh
That feeling when you rolled the bakugan and it opened like in the anime was just freaking perfect
Or the frustration when the magnet inside the ball would barely miss the card.
We would put the metal cards on our sholders and we would put the bakugan above our shirts that way they would stay on our shoulders like in the anime with drago lol
@@corndog5631 omg no one in my neighbourhood done that including me... Imagine if I got to do that those times....

The show was something ahead of its time in some regards. The most memorable thing that comes to mind about that show is the fact the Shun's mother was in the hospital on her deathbed, and he KNEW she was going to DIE. So, Shun challenges Dan to a brawl and continuously beats him or loses to him, never fully ending their bout. Shun insists they keep on playing game after game after game. Why? Because when you enter the field, time slows down in the outside world. HE WANTED TO KEEP ON FIGHTING DAN SO THAT HIS MOTHER COULD CONTINUE LIVING FOR LONGER. THIS WAS A KIDS SHOW!!!
Yeah that's deep writing, love it
Exactly. If this show was made for a more mature audience it would’ve been one of the best animes
I agree but Idk if they just screwed up when translating because the dialogue made no sense sometimes
Thank you so much! I just read about this tragedy yesterday. When I watched this show in 2018, I always questioned Shun's decisions during that battle with Dan Kuso. I did not know his intentions!
@@notsocooldude7720I don’t blame the original Japanese writers for that as much as the localizers tbh
9:16 Yugioh *had* rules which *were* simple for kids to understand. That past tense is very important, I can’t imagine kids getting into modern yugioh.
When I look at modern yugioh I shake my head, they should have just made a different game
@@TheBiggestMoronYouKnow yeah it was hard for me to get back to it. Snychro summon is ok. But the others are a little bit hard for beginners to understand

Beyblade , Pokémon , Yu Gi Oh , Bakugan...
Man those were the good times.

Digimon too huhu
Yep... now we got Fortnite... 😭
My generation never got into beyblade or bakugan, but we had a whole Pokémon card trading network and yugioh cards battles were lit if you knew how to play

Remember the plot twist when masquerade was one of Dan's girl friends? For me that was the biggest plot twist ever
Oh right, Billiam forgot to mention the fact that in season one, half the main cast is practically Dan's harem.
That was the first thing I remembered when I hear bakugan. As a kid, I didn't understand the plot twist, watching the anime in a different language didn't help either. WTH was that?
@@connordarvall8482 A Harem in kinds show?! Oh wait it's anime...
@@ras3996 You can see it basically as a split personality thing, with the mask she remembers nothing, without it she's her normal self. Yes.... I watched it way too much and regret nothing!
Yeah, the one with the Orange hair (I think her name was Alice?)
Yeah, I remember that twist *_blowing my mind_* when I was a kid.
To this day very few things in anime have blindsided me like that reveal did, mostly because when I found out about that I was a naive kid that didn’t even understand that what I was watching was anime lol
the first season was literally so good. like all the characters were so well developed and likeable. Plus the Alice/Masquerade twist was amazing.
Why the fuck did U spoil the plot twist
I remember one time someone's bakugan fell down a sewer grate so we made a paper clip tied around a string to retrieve it
Risking lives to save bakugan hell yeah
Did you do it?
[ ] yeah he said to retrieve it so he did eventually
My brother thought an older kid stole his bakugan and was really upset but they just fell out of his backpack before he left to school
That's just Fighting For What's Right Before It's Gone Gone
*is reminded of Bakugan*
*turns and looks at the small spherical dragon covered in dust, sitting in the corner of my room*
“Please don’t murder me in my sleep.”
I actually kept my Aquas Dragonite on my computer desk. He never got more than a light layer of dust. My other Bakugan... I actually kept in a small box that mostly protected them from dust. But I kinda prayed for that too whenever I actually looked over my old collection. 😂😂😂
I actually use them and still buy them, they are fantastic decorations along with my gundams, Warhammer models and anime models
I still have two of mine! They’re awesome and I love them and I really hope they don’t murder me lol
Robin Tate they have a remake
i have naga sitting on my shelf and i always look at it and remember "hey you are the very object that landed me in iss in elementary for playing with you in class and led to getting them banned in my school creating a permanant rule in the hand book about bakugan specifically"
It was so good to put the metal card between your shoulder and your shirt and have the Bakugan standing there like in the anime. It was *the* shit.
I actually never thought of that lol. That would've been a good idea if I knew about it 9 years ago lol.
Shit dude, where were you when I was a kid
YES!
omg and i thought i was the only one
This dude freakin cracked the code. Never would've thought of that.
I was addicted to the Bakugan DS game. While the games for the other anime like Beyblade had you play as pre existing characters from the anime, Bakugan had you play as your own customizable player character with their own exclusive signature Bakugan named Leonidas working your way up in tournaments and making friends with the anime characters and fighting the villains instead of forcing you to play as the main characters from the anime and use their signature Bakugan.
It's a shame Bakugan only got, like... four games in the original series? And two of them were pretty bad. Haven't seen much of Champions of Vestroia, the reboot didn't really interest me (seriously, why get rid of Subterra for some OP element?)
Defenders of the Core on the Wii was great for different reasons, but nothing they make will ever top the original Bakugan Battle Brawlers game. Some of the most fun I ever had on the DS, and that's no lie. Leonidas was badass, the game was a perfect mix of challenging and fun... the only real downfall was that the multiplayer was kinda bad. But I still have my cartridge of Battle Brawlers on the DS, and the Wii version, and play them so much. Such an incredible experience.
Bro that game was the shit
@@Jfrost9101 getting rid of subterra was one of the worst things with the reboot. Sure it was the least popular attribute, but it was there for a reason. Aurelus (I forgot how to spell it) should have been a rare attribute, or something else like that. At least we finally have leonidas
Oh god I recently got a copy of the DS game and played it and god was that a trip down memory lane. Along with being mad that I couldnt play as a girl because me and my best friend as kids were the only like 10 girls in North America to be into this stuff.

My best memory of bakugan was that, when someone lost, the winner got to keep one of their bakugan, and things got so intense. (We would only keep them for a few days before returning them, we weren’t terribly ruthless)
We had a different game with cards, we ACTUALLY got to keep other people's cards. Shit was brutal.

Not going to lie but bakugans intro is fire
Holy shit man, that Intro was the only reason i watched this again when I was 14 and i consider it to be the "first rock song" i heard and loved
*"You gotta fight for what's right,*
*Before it's gone-gone-gone,*
*This is Bakugan."*
That intro is cool and so nostalgic
Although the lyrics sound like they’re talking about rape
“Back against the wall, gotta give it your all...”
“Two worlds collide on the inside...”
“Fight for what’s right before it’s gone (your virginity)...”
This is BAKUGAN
One time when I was 8, while I was in the bathroom at an airport, I decided to sing the ENTIRE intro song, and my mom and sister who were waiting outside could *very easily* hear it.

One thing that always bothered me as a kid, was that shortly after I got into it, the toys moved in a distinct second wave, which were slightly larger and the plastic was noticeably lower quality. The toys were still pretty neat, but the first wave was definitely better.
Oh definitely. Of course, all the rules and cards and stuff for the first wave didn't line up with the show. XD
This is what killed it for my peers tbh. We all agreed that we were too cool for the newer blocky plastic toys because metal equals cool I guess 😅
I knew they werent plastic back in the day! 😂 the last time I remembered about bakugan was a long ass time ago. My aunt had them when it became big, and I was little and of course I would have fun just sticking them on metal or magnetic surfaces. I remember how they were kinda plastic-y, but weren't like the ones you see now, and they were a bit smaller, and now that billiam reminded me of them possibly somewhere around the beginning of this year, i started collecting them, and even though the new ones may be a bit bigger and not have the same material that was used to make the original bakugan, they are still pretty damn cool to look at and see them transform, especially the geo and nanogon (even tho the Nanos don't transform, but they are still pretty cool to look at)
Especially the color went from intense colors to something that looks like smeared over it. Red became nearly orange, blue became turquoise etc. I think at one point they gave up and even released clear Bakugan where the plastics natural color was tinted or clear.
I was obsessed with Bakugan when I was a kid. I especially loved the Wii Game
the WHAT
@@bckends_ it also dropped on PS2, 360 and DS and you got to make your own character and it even had the cast from the show (something later Bakugan games didn't have)
Bakugan was THE shit back in 3rd grade but the hype in my school did indeed only last for about a year before it slipped off into the "they still make those?" status. But goddamn was it one of the best franchises from my childhood. Billiam is right though, nobody actually cared about the card game when it was popular. My friends and I only cared about the toys, collecting and trading them as if they were the cards themselves. We'd only bring one metal card with us to school to open them, but that's it, we never actually played the game because even us as 8 year olds found it boring. But the originality of the concept behind the toys made it such a memorable thing for the kids who were into it at its prime. The TV show also helped make it a memorable series, and seeing those toys you collect come to life in a TV show is one of the coolest things you can watch when you're 8 years old. I really hope the new series does well so that the new generation of kids will also have Bakugan in their childhoods.
I was thinking those exact words as I look at your comment. I didn't even like Pokemon or yugioh but I knew bakugan was the shit. I almost missed the bus a bunch times trying to watch what happens next.

Funny story about the Bakugan anime, I actually got to meet the actor who played Drago (the main protagonists Bakugan) Jason Deline at a voice acting workshop, and he told us a little about his time working on the anime.
He didn’t really get it, saying that it was “one huge commercial disguised as a show” and describing the toys as a game where you throw plastic balls to let out a monster, and _that’s it_
He told us about the time he recorded his lines for Drago for the Bakugan Wii game, but the recording team was different and didn’t know he voices the character in the anime as well , so they kept asking him to say “Dragon Booster” in an overly goofy Barney voice until they realized their mistake! Lol
He also said that after the game was done he got a copy, but since he didn’t get how Bakugan worked, he never got pass the tutorial stage and didn’t get a chance to hear himself. I think he still has that copy of the game somewhere just gathering dust.

at least bakugan followed a story into a series that added onto its self with the characters saving the world
Well it changed its own rules by just having fights be like a pokemon/traditional fighting mechanic where at best I could describe it like a beam struggle in the anime. You activate abilities to give your bakugan a power or counter edge, but the opposing bakugan can still try to DODGE, TANK, REPEL, or Counter and would only get hit if they weren't fast enough or not strong enough endurance wise given whatever their forms were.
And its expansion came with having alien humans be a thing where bakugan ended up on other worlds. Pokemon even does that with the multi dimension thing along with pokemon that come from outer space
Charles DeLiberis oh you mean like Digimon?

Watching you try to launch the Bakugan onto the card unlocked some sort of primary memory from my childhood.
The bakugan series got pretty dramatic at times, alternate races fighting wars using bakugan to gain power and seeing the og bakugan as primitive yet incredibly powerful
Right you are. The crew going to the Doom dimension, Dan saving Dragonoid with a trident and then taking a veeeery long fall. And of course that weird light saber duel that I could not comprehend. It was a weird show but I liked it.
I wasn’t too old for bakugan. What happened is that the show completely changed direction and they started just making tons of random shit like mecha bakugan that you had to put together with multiple bakugan and weapons you could attach to bakugan. That shit just got too ridiculous and people stopped playing as we got too old but the younger generation never picked it up. Also as other people said the point wasn’t the game everybody just collected them, traded them, and played with them.

One thing I remember in each Bakugan season is that the Subterra, Haos, and Darkus reps were change in each season.
Season 1 - female
Season 2 - Vestals
Season 3 - one Earthling, one Neathian, and one Gundalian
Season 4 - one of each alien race that Dan and his friends encountered.
Dan, Marucho, and Shun stay in each Season. While everyone else’s Bakugan partners change, Dan’s is always a version of the same Dragonoid.
I still have like an entire toolbox filled with these things. My dad found it in the attic a while ago and i still take them out sometimes and get all nostalgic
I've got a literal drawer full of those little Bakugan with a ton of cards and Bakugan all from my childhood. Bakugan was crazy as hell when I was younger. Actually, now that I think about it, I have a bunch of CD's with practically the entire show on them and it's so nostalgic.

I got a drawer full of them too from all the seasons. Wish we had picture comments so I can show yall.
@@sidneydavis1365 Same, I had the originals of course, but I also had the ones with attachments, the other weird shaped ones, and also the more complex bigger robot ones from later seasons.
@@delphoxoa9677 I'll give you 100 bucks for them. I'm serious
"boy toys"? Oh PLEASE all the guys at kindergarden were jealous of my bakugan collection
Same lol one was dumb so we traded and he gave me a cool haos apollonir for some really lame bakugan. He later broke the bakugan I traded him and wanted his back so he started crying to the meanest teacher. She DEMANDED that I give it back. She was yelling and screaming so I looked her dead in the eye and say "No, I don't have it with me, it's home, and I will never give it back". I was like 8 and got sent to the principal lmao no one messes with my bakugan. And same with yugioh, pokemon and digata. I had all the figures and cards and the boys were ultra jealous so they would try to hide them and shit...fun times 😂
Same, some kids tried to steal mine. Bitches, back off, i earned this
Still boy toys, I don't get the point of your comment.
@@promisnwekenta9703 it's unfair to ignore a group of people (in this case the girls who played bakugan) and act as if they do not exist just because they are in minority
@@meljerichoasakki2046 I don't ignore you. This game is still pretty much for boys and was likely made for boys. I have no problems with girls playing it and I never said it's only made for boys.
Okay I have a repressed memory of me having my favorite Bakugon toy (Drago) and my dog ate it (with a side of chocolate) I was so sad and mad at my dog after word and my parents comforted me tho it I never got over it but I still loved my dog.
@Olivia 757 nah it was broken afterward
My brother and I loved bakugon when we were little. I even still have one of my bakugon, Skyris, who now lives on my fridge lol. We still quote the whole “I am Masquerade!” bit lol.
"Kids grow out of toys"
*Looks to the box full of the new Bakugan in my college dorm
Lol yeah since going to college I’ve been getting back into nerf, hot wheels, and transformers 😂😂😂
If that's true , you have my respect dude . I'll swear I'll never sell my Bakugan , at least I'll probably store them in a box
Bakugan didn’t end until 2012!?!!??! I thought it was older than that
7 years...
@Evil0x Nah! Defenetly 2012
Recently my nephews found my old Bakugan collection. I still love to just constantly open and close them, it's incredibly satisfying.
I LOVED Bakugan as a kid. I collected a lot of them as a kid and played the game with a few friends. I LOVED the TV show too and watched it all the time. Although, I only ever liked the 1st season and found the later seasons to be a bit too complicated for a dumb 9 year old me. I also played the video game on DS.
Two worlds collide on the inside!
You gotta fight for what's right, before it's gone, gone, gone, this is Bakugan!
Bebyblade was even weirder.
If the villains used guns instead of beyblades they may have solved all of their problems.
Also a beyblade caused armaggedon and killed 50% of the world's population and somehow the world was fine with that.
So they pulled a Thanos?
@@CybernikTheHedgehog Yeah except that everyone was cool with it for some reason.

I remember laughing really hard at an episode in one of the series where the gang goes after a mysterious"Sniper" Beyblader
I still have the special Naga Bakugan, the evil dragon antagonist from the first season. What was cool about it is that it had no attribute like Pyrus or Subterra, but gained the highlighted bonus on each gate card. This made the Bakugan very unique and pretty cool for collecting.
7:53 that was my strat back in the day. Especially since I usually used the Y1 Bakugan while everyone else were using the newer ones.
So rewarding tbh, always had a consistent strat
I mean did Bakugan really 'fail' if it was in the top boys toy brands for like 4 years in a row?
And have like 5 shows
I don't think it failed. It just died as time passed
The toys did well but the card game itself was a major failure
@@shianeruu4359 DONT WORRY ITS BACK AND BETTER WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER AS DAN BUT WITH DIFFERENT FRIENDS AND HE SOUNDS,LOOKS AND IS DIFFERENT
It was a success at first, but later died.
Back in my middle school we all played Yu-Gi-Oh and had our own internal ranking and tournaments. I was one of the best duelists and used mostly dark monsters.
One day the younger kids started playing Bakugan in the Yu-Gi-Oh area and started shitting on Yu-Gi-Oh. The best player was a former sub-par Yu-Gi-Oh earth-element player who now played as a dark Bakugan player. People were comparing him to me repeatedly and saying he was just like masquerade from the show or whatever.
I found that unacceptable. The next day I bought a few earth Bakugan and whooped his ass. I gave a long winded "Yugi" speech on how he could never be the best at dark or whatever element he plays as. I verbally shamed him so hard that he almost started to cry and Bakugan died off in our school after that.
What can I say, back in my school Yu-Gi-Oh was SERIOUS business. Eh, no one read this far anyway so who cares.

I remember the giant versions of the Bakugans. Back then my brother and I had a giant Terra Juggarnoid and Ventus Fear Ripper.

I remember this stuff at primary school. Kids were huddled around the table with these and I was a little kid looking on like "whoa"
Okay I really laughed when you were trying to make it spring open because that is the thing I remember most
Drago and Dan were on the level of Pikachu and Ash
More like Red and Charizard.
well better then pikachu and ash because they actuelly grow a little up.
Then they were ichigo and zangetsu level
Atleast Drago evolved and kept getting stronger
Drago and Dan were beyond Pikachu and Ash
This kids show had one of the biggest twists ever. I NEVER expected Alice to be Masquerade....
Nothing that they did afterward was able to top such reveal
IKR?!
@L Lawliet It was, but it was kind of done a little TOO early.
Fr this is the first time I was introduced to the “plot twist” as a kid😂😂
This show has such a special place in my heart...
I still have a couple of my favorite Bakugan on a shelf in my room! I'm in my mid-20s now, but some of those little guys just look so cool!
Here in Germany Beyblade was the biggest craze ever. Jesus I remember grinding that shit every break in elementary school and almost the whole school was playing
Ich hab damals mein Beyblade versucht stärker zu machen in dem ich es die ganze Nacht gegen einen Karton gespinnt habe. War wahrscheinlich ein Placebo aber am nächsten Tag in der Schule konnte mich keiner besiegen

@@impartialknockback nah, there OK I guess
Show isn't that good toys r pretty good tho. Same with beyblades and the new burst. Metal series was bomb in all ways with that and brawlers was better than planet
I feel like, as a toy, everyone misunderstood how it worked. They're tiny little puzzles! And yet, instead of trying to solve how to put them together, every kid i knew would force the things closed, often broke them, and hurt my heart in the process. I was that kid that was absurdly delicate with my toys, so, these were perfect for me.
I actually really liked both the second and the fourth season of the anime. This show was literally my childhood haha
Bakugan was really cool, but a big problem it had was it being so hard to keep up with. In the beginning, it is all simple, you have ball monsters that fight with the help of some cards or something. The next thing you know, they are in another dimension, they have different -pokemon- bakugans, a big part of the initial cast is missing for no good reason, and they are fighting a completely new enemy, they use some weirdly-shaped bakugans as supports or something, and then those bad guys make themselves robotic bakugans, and Dragonoid starts using this big-ass mech thingy made of those robotic bakugans that they actually hate, and then those are immediately scrapped for some smaller, 1000000x better battle gears or something. Now skip some more seasons, they are in some computer simulation, and at the same time get caught in the war between two planets or something, and then the next thing hat happens is that -ash's- Dan's dragonoid now fuses with some other bakugan, and then this big fucking bakugan that's not actually a bakugan comes out of the sky or some shit, and that's basically bakugan
Yeah, I know that if I took the time to actually watch it now, I'd probably understand it, but this is the impression I have from when I was a kid. And even for an older kid, a teen or an adult, Bakugan is kind-of too over-the-top imo
I remember when they started using the gear bakugans. I know exactly how I thought its stupid because their power levels literally jumped from 1500 to like 3500 and shit
Freaking dragonoid started with like 250hp, fused with a bunch of super overpowered stuff and still is weaker at some point than other base pojemon, uh I mean bakugans xD
It was really annoying how they just removed Alice, Runo and Julie. Sure Alice was the closest to a legit good characters but still, it felt like they had no real reason to get rid off half the cast. Even worse was that all Bakugan was removed and replaced except for Drago. Prayas, Gorem, Hydronoid, Trigrera and Skyrus all had legit powers, were chosen by the legendary six warriors, evolved because they were so good in battle and saved the world, but in season 2 they just decide nah, those guys were nothing special, let’s take these five new ones with no character, just some lines and friendship bullshit and pretend the first ones never were that good to begin with.
Ok that is COMPLETELY backwards. Bakugan was pretty complicated during its first season, having different abilities being useful for certain situations and even different bakugan being stronger against other different types of bakugan. It took strategy and teamwork. As seasons went on it just became more and more simplified, to a point where the show basically turned into DragonBall, a bunch of laser beam battles. Bakugan could be summoned anywhere and they fought freely outside of the classic duel limits.
Overall the show was much more complicated early on and by the last season it was basically a game of "Whose laser beam had more attack points"
Both of you are right tho. The rules of the game itself became more simple; but the world and all the extra add-one became more complicated. Eventually revolving into way to simple and boring game with way to conveluded story, setting and add-ons. Perhaps since I only half-watched season 3 and 4 this happened since I didn’t pay attention?
Didn't he seriously just call Haos:
House?
my thoughts exactly lol
He misprounced a ton of stuff T-T
Which makes less sense when you consider he watched 12 episodes. Last I checked, they mention Bakugan types A LOT in the first episodes, so he should've known how to pronounce Haos
Yup he did
Haos = hay-yus
This show was heat, and I managed to always catch the important episodes growing up
M0Ofin the ost was legit. Shame they would never release it legally.
I was so into it (didn't know it had toys back then and even if I did we probably didn't have access to them in my country until I wasn't into the show anymore). My mom found a glass with bakugan theme (showing the MC with his fire dragon) still use it to this very day, my fav glass
