I never played Chaotic, but I have to say the series was one of the best card-based shows I've ever seen. They actually took the card-playing aspect seriously & knew how to balance it out with world-saving/adventure aspects of Perim. Plus, half of the time their trips to Perim was to scan a creature, item, or mugic for their decks, which could be seen as a more action-packed equivalent to players going to game shops or flea markets to find that one card they REALLY needed

I liked the show more than the game. The show had the characters fighting and looking at the card game and video game, it doesn't look that interesting. The show was good and I liked the animation!

This was huge in my country. I remember when the Yu-Gi-Oh magazine had a monthly monster design contest and somebody just drew the purple and green guy and won the main prize...lil shit
Chaotic was a solid effort as a show, and had a lot of interesting lore and some entertaining plots, especially in regards to giving Creatures backstories. The few video games made based on the show were also fairly decent efforts. A shame it never went further than that because I'd have loved to see more.
I have vaguely positive memories of Chaotic the cartoon. In particular, the weird hybrid of portal fantasy and virtual reality involved in the running-around-scanning-stuff plots stood out as Interesting and Unique. I remember wishing the show focused more on that and less on the card game stuff, but now I have isekai video game anime to fill that hole. Things I didn't realize it had include seasons with a radically different artstyle, a physical TCG, and several cast/crew members in common with Sonic X.
I really loved this show It's probably the first story driven cartoon I really got into Yeah, first season makes it look like a light hearted comedic action cartoon(and it is) but in seasons 2 and 3 things got pretty serious and the comedy kinda took a backseat to the drama.
The first story driven cartoons I got into as a child was Ben 10 & Teen Titans(still remains 2 of my favorite childhood show). But yeah, I was wandering why no one ever brought this show up anymore
Negative Legend you’re videos are still trash. Chaotic sucked and faded into obscurity just like with the powered by beyblade series. It’s a wannabe Yugioh and Digimon Frontier.
I loved the game too. Still have all my cards from when I was a kid. The problem is that even back then I was the only person who collected Chaotic, World of Warcraft, Duel Masters, hell even Pokemon wasn't a popular card game at school. Now that the Battledrome is down I don't know of any reliable way to pick the game up again. :(
@@dericktcg8018 Well when the creator of the series says he is close to finalizing a deal on bringing back at least the show... We should ahve some hope.
Chaotic just had so much potential that it just wasted. The card art was super cool, the ideas around the strategic monster movement was cool, the musical magic was a really nifty idea. The problem is that nothing great really came from it. It had a ton of potential for video games that just never came to fuition. Imagine a game where you have a full open world with all the tribes constantly fighting for dominance. Scanning monsters at different times and place could get you better versions of them, depending on the circumstances. Like if a monster is geared up for war, he'd have different stats, strengths and weakness than if they were just sitting at home, or if they defect to another tribe. But you dont get the battle gear if you scan them while wearing it, so sneakily going to the greatest warriors villages would still be useful since they arent wearing their armor and weapons. Imagine being able to covertly effect the tribes politics to cause a war and get to scan geared up monsters, or to get a certain monster killed making any scans you have of that monster more valuable. Imagine being able to actually take pictures of the monsters and apply effects to it and essentially create the art for the cards your scans get you.
An open world multiplayer rpg, with mpcs that can actually die and don't respawn, but there would have too be some kind of generator in the game too keep the same number of creatures in the world, but have different creatures overtime, and it would have too have set parameters for the lobby, the arena, and the shared open world. Kinda sounds like Skyrim online with extra steps that might make it different enough too be super fun
I haven't forgotten it, I just enjoy rewatching their anime again recently, and it just further solidified the difference between itself and others, especially Yu-Gi-Oh, because unlike Yu-Gi-Oh, Chaotic sticks to its own IRL game rules, mind you that's because chaotic set up it's actual gaming rules prior to creating its show, which differs from the Yu-Gi-Oh TV series which was created originally from a manga, and we all know how Lawless those can get, regardless chaotic sticks to its rules always, and even more importantly it never cops out or Straight hands them a victory because they're the MCs, especially like how in YU Gi Oh almost every single episode just either creates a card out of freaking nowhere that just happens to save Yami's butt and then conveniently forgetting its purpose only one episode later or put a card in that does exist, except change its effect or its power " i mean seriously, Yu-Gi-Oh invented cards on the spot for plot convenience way too often and that is just bad storytelling" Plus chaotic does have its charm, and I actually quite prefer the anime-esk style in the later seasons but to each their own that's more of a opinion-based thing
lol Let's never forget the (amusing) travesty that is Yu Gi Oh season 1. "I'm gonna break your floating castle by shooting it with my dragon that I launched from my turtle" Literally none of the cards worked that way
This brings tears to my eyes. This was my absolute favourite show, I've rewatched it 3 times and I still love it. If the show could ever come back in my lifetime that would be a dream come true for me. I never thought people even remembered this show and card game.
I’m glad I’m not alone! I thought I was the only one who was weirdly obsessed with the show!! I rewatch it every year and it’s actually being rebooted no release date. I’m guessing they are gonna release the old episodes and see what happens but I habe no idea. If it does well, we might actually see NEW episodes.
I still remember the sort of creepy part with Tom (and I'm not one to poke at show logic on kid's shows) being part of the gaming card world and his real version of himself still being able to live life normally while his other self keeps playing in the world of Chaotic. Just recall as a kid being creeped out legit about how the game Tom might never be able to log off Chaotic and the other one never goes back to sync up and game Tom gets lost and forgotten forever. Know its silly, but even today I still found it weird. ^O^
they actually did an episode about that where max was depressed and just stayed in chaotic until his bestfriend realized that real life max wasn't max and helped him out
Unfortunately, I doubt any card game would be able to survive a 3 year hiatus. No official events, no official releases, nothing spoken about whats going on. Just one day you're announcing a new set, and the next.. POOF, nothing. And then 3-4 years later, they come out and like "4KIDS WAS SUING FOR FULL RIGHTS AND LOST AFTER 3 YEARS!" - but the damage was already done... It losts its platform... I wholeheartedly believe that Chaotic could have been the next MtG or YuGiOh if it was given the chance... Sad to see things die...
Honestly it took up so much table space and took a while to play. It wasn't going to catch mainstream appeal. Not to mention how some cards were just arbitrarily worse than others.
Who knows? The franchise still has a following, however small. With the existence of things like funding campaigns and the like, maybe the creator can find a way to get the show up again and bring back attention to the cards. Probably not, but I don't think it's impossible.
Ah, I loved Chaotic, I remember rushing home from school to jump online to play some games. Never played in real life, but the online gameplay always kept me interested.
Rex Wort na I don’t think so, and I owned VR only because it’s expensive at the moment plus you need god gaming computer or laptop to used it. ( I used gaming laptop )
ossander ken like I said I owned it, it’s fun but I find they’re not enough good games like games that I will play everyday or casually. If you know any please tell me
TheDragonfriday VR is very new so it make sense it expensive, require a lot of things, and have very few content. In time it going cheaper and simpler for the mass audience which will open a bigger market for VR games. VRchat is a good example of people programming game mods in their world that I could see Chaotics having a fanbase making the show a virtual thing.
I remember as a kid thinking these card games would be so much better If you could somehow see the beings on the cards in combat. 'Like a hologram.' I just realized that VR is the answers to little me's prayers
Same. I actually started watching it around S2/S3 on CN and thought it was cool, especially since I met a few people who actually played Chaotic. Then a little while later, I found S1 and thought to myself "...Did the thing I watched before a reboot or not?" Ngl, the show makes the game a helluva lot more interesting than it actually seems. Even to the extent that back when I made my own trading cards as a hobby, I implemented some of Chaotic's mechanics cause I thought they were cool.
I actually forgot about Chaotic. I remember I really liked the show, but I had no clue what happened to it. I just assumed it was canceled. I knew there was a card game, but most of my friends either played Pokémon or Yu-gi-oh. It’s kinda sad how such a good series ended the way it did. Maybe I’ll watch it again someday just for nostalgia. I’m still kinda surprised that I forgot about and even more surprised that I randomly found a video talking about the show and game years after it died out.
I watched most shows that 4Kids put on tv! Sonic X, Cubix, Medabots, Yugioh, Winx, One Piece, Mew Mew Power, Chaotic 😂 luv all of em though!!! I actually have Chaotic for PS3 😂
I have chaotic on the Wii (somewhere... I haven’t even touched my wii in like a decade now). Honestly, 4kids was my childhood despite them notoriously making all the shows they “americanized” just worse (Yugioh GX without season 4 was criminal). One Piece is easily the worst. The shounen genre really wasn’t translating over well to the west at that time. Shounen literally means young boy and the genre is marketed towards 12 to 18 year olds (kinda a wide range) while at the same time being enjoyable for a much older audience (or any age really). 4kids just took that to mean “this is all for 5 years AND NO ONE OLDER. Oh and other countries don’t exist. These were all made by us IN AMERICA!!!” (To be fair what did I expect from for kids?).
I completely forgot about Chaotic until UA-cam recommended this video to me lol! I was never really into it but I remember watching the show a few times and I think I bought a few packs of cards. Thanks for bringing back a few memories!
Same, but last week, I actually met someone who likes the game. So happy I never threw mine away, because now I'm building a deck in preparation for playing again!
I miss Chaotic. The card game we really wasn't the best but it was actually my first and the anime was amazing. I still have almost all of my original cards.
I really loved this show back when I was younger. I even recently rewatched the show as an adult and I, to my surprise, I didn't hate it like I do with a lot of stuff I loved as a kid.
Oh fuck, i remember Chaotic from here Brazil, it was so big, just like Bakugan, The show was so cool, but i was just a kid so you know. And just like bagukan, it just died over time.
@@Peashooter521 I know I was just saying Pokemon still had a card game attached to it. I can guarantee you a lot of people bought Pokemon cards simply because of the anime (I know I did) If anything the anime was just sort of an advertisement to get people to buy more Pokemon merchandise
Chaotic was the game I always loved for one reason: the mechanics. Gameplay overall was iffy and a little hard. But the mechanics are absolutely amazing. Land cards with actual effects, weapon cards, magic cards with impressive setups, attack cards that can be used for any monster, and the four monster categories with such unique mythos and mechanics. It’s just so cool overall
Bro, I have been fucking wondering what the hell the name of this series was! Thank you for reminding me, this is like some half remembered fever dream man.
Honesty for me this was one of my top tier shows about card games (of course Yugioh is the first and Digimon Season 3 is the closest to this style) that i really like at least on his first season. It gets a really good mix between the main character world, the fantasy of the monsters of the card game and how both world works. Speaking of the seasons, maybe some episodes fall into the category of silly and goofy but others really cares about how their worlds work, but others are a must watch. for me the best episode is the S1E13. About the other seasons, the change of animation style really hurts his personality :( for me their downsides as you said is how the games (the trading card game and their video games) got develop, is like Duelmasters but reverse. (Awful TV show but awesome card game)
When this was localized to latin america, we only got the series post the first season. idk how much I missed about that? but? I loved the idea so much? Taht it just threw me into the fray without a single word of backstory. just throw me into a cohesive story without need of Backstory heck ye
Damn this video gave me like a mini nostalgia trip. I remembered watching tons of 4kids! When I was a child because at the time my family didn't have Satellite TV. The cartoon I watched the most from that was definitely the 2003 TMNT cartoon but I also remember watching TMNT Fast Forward, Sonic X, Yugioh, and the Chaotic cartoon. I definitely do remember the Chaotic card game comercials, and I had the same Wii game lol. I don't think I got very far in it though.
I loved the artwork and scanning to collect creatures concept, it was such an engaging show I wish they just dropped the card game aspect and made it a full blown show. I still vividly remember the locations and creatures a decade later and I wish there was something new since I last visited it.
In high school the game store near my school couldn't get rid of their chaotic stock that had long been gathering dust. My friends and I all pitched in for a total of $100 to get all of their booster boxes and singles. Being able to build decks freely made me realize how broken it was.
Loved this show and the game so much I was sad and pissed when I found out that there weren't gonna be more episodes. It for me was like a combo of Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh and, Digimon in small ways
Hicehamer and Maxor, chaor, dractyl, takinom, prince mudenu, intress, bodal, frafdo, tartarek, heptad, attacat, barrath beyond, cant forget h’earing, lord van bloot, magmon, siado, Blazvatan....omg those we’re all off the top of my head I’m so sad this ended
@@nate803 That red winged girl one and cheetah girl one were my favorites -because I was something year old boy- and Chaor. Chaor was the coolest thing ever to me (in that show).
I remember watching the first season as it aired on tv when I could, and I was getting into it. I really wish it kicked off and kept going, seeing as though I'm really into tcgs now that the era is over (poor me] and the lore was probably something that could have kept me interested for quite a few years with some nostalgic reminiscing, kinda like how I started collecting the new beyblades for that reason.
I arrived here after watching NegativeLegends video on a Chaotic playlist. I still dont have a clue how I found that playlist. Lol I had just about forgotten this TV show.

It was a really interesting show I absolutely loved it It was a combination of Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon But you are your ace monster/Pokemon I always love concepts of monsters adapting with their own abilities, and also upgrading them I remember going to the 4kids site and collecting a bunch of stickers and playing this protect the castle type game from Chaotic online lol
@@NpalrGamesNsuch that is epic! Hopefully we see a continuation of the series soon... And if they decide to remake it... I just hope ot has the same good vibes it did back then.
Chaotic still has a pretty active community, chaotic recode is a way to still play the game online, and somehow there’s still new people who stop in occasionally. If you want, you should definitely check it out.
Am I the only one Just learning that 4kids was to censor cartoons to make them more sutible for younger kids and not a channel idea that was just obvious like Hey Cartoons are on now? So It's for kids everyone☺! I'm shook rn.
Chaotic was a gem and is honestly one of the very few good things we got out of 4Kids. I never got around to actually playing the online game but that doesn't mean I didn't collect a shitload of cards. The game wasn't too bad either.
this is a weird find on a youtube recommended feed. Chaotic was definitely a show that I watched when I was... 10-11 years old but I somehow forgot about it. I clicked because it looked familiar and now that I'm reminded of it, I'll watch it.
Wait a minute, for all of the stupid censoring and Americanizing 4kids did to a bunch of anime...it was *CHAOTIC* that did them in the whole time!? That's...interesting. Also to be perfectly honest, other than the...really...really...really cringey National Anthem stunt, I'm not sure I remember 4kids' censoring being all that bad. ...Okay, except that one dude in One Piece, but that's the only legitimately offensive thing I can think of that's not just plain unnecessary and dumb. Okay, actually I can think of a second offensive thing, and that's *not getting the F-Zero dub to do the final Falcon Punch.* Besides, you can't talk about 4kids without talking about...........the One Piece Rap. *hears DigiRap suddenly* NOT THAT RAP.
it was actually Yu-gi-oh that started it all. The lawsuit with chaotic was due to 4kids claiming they own the american side of yugioh. when that failed they tried the same with chaotic causing a legal battle, the terms of that legal battle is still going on 11 years later. they argued with Bryan gannon the owner/creator of chaotic (grolls and grorks/chaotic now or never) about the rites because they spent the money making the tv show and were in finacial trouble after losing to yugioh previously. really its all the higher ups at 4kids fault. The terms of the lawsuit by the judge was that neither party could produce or sell anything related to chaotic. well when you have 4 years of nothing happening in a card game that just completly kills the franchise. It might of been for the best though since chaotic is so different formatwise than magic or yugioh infinite combos and turn 1 woins were becoming more prevelant. the few spoiled cards from the unreleased sets powerlevel far exceeded anything the game every had before and it felt like rnd was just shitting out set after set with little regard for how theyd all interact.
No it wasn't 4kids got sued by Konami over Game Boy Advance Video because it was made by Majesco Entertainment, who is a direct competitor of Konami. That was a lie though (Majesco officially made a plug and play version of Konami Collector's Series: Arcade Advanced), Konami just wanted more control over the franchise in the west and capitalized on the opportunity to get it.
Also most of the crap 4kids did to anime, Viz did to the mangas first and there's also the network censors to consider. 4kids might be partially to blame for not having the integrity to say no to the censorship but it wasn't directly or entirely their faults. (Contrast Funimation who dropped Saban as a distributor like a rock for _insisting_ on censorship)
I feel no sympathy of what happened to 4Kids. The fact that to they try to sue for full control of the rights to Chaotic only hurt themselves in the long run. Which is a shame cause the series has a dedicated fan base.
DUDE, I LOVED THIS SHOW!!! I had forgotten about it, and now I'm glad I came by your video. I did buy some cards in those mix packs, but never found anyone to play with. Most kids just wanted to play Yu-Gi-Oh and Digimon. I think the show died out and I never used the cards for more than hoarding, a shame really. It seems interesting. Nice video man!
I loved this show as a kid! After watching your video about Duel Masters I started reading a bit on Chaotic and what had been of it... and then I found this video! Love your channel, keep doing what you do.

Chaotic was a solid effort as a show, and had a lot of interesting lore and some entertaining plots, especially in regards to giving Creatures backstories. The few video games made based on the show were also fairly decent efforts. A shame it never went further than that because I'd have loved to see more.
the concept was good
@Vincent Constantineau: It was really good.
Being able to to actually gear up your creature was a awesome concept imo. I loved the show when I was younger.
@Mat Mat Mat: Me too. I miss it a lot now.
@Jay Harv28: Indeed. Now it's just another relic of the past that lives on in our memories (and our repeated playthroughs of the video games).

That's what I remember the most too. As a huge gamer being sent to a game world is something that I love.
it's part of why I used it for a story with MHA. with Izuku traveling to Chaotic and Perim. check it out if you are curious.
I really loved this show
It's probably the first story driven cartoon I really got into
Yeah, first season makes it look like a light hearted comedic action cartoon(and it is) but in seasons 2 and 3 things got pretty serious and the comedy kinda took a backseat to the drama.
The first story driven cartoons I got into as a child was Ben 10 & Teen Titans(still remains 2 of my favorite childhood show). But yeah, I was wandering why no one ever brought this show up anymore
Hey, that’s me.
I still adore this game. This was a great video.
NOT surprised to see you here
Negative Legend you’re videos are still trash.

".. An incredibly dedicated fanbase.."

There’s a lot of groups for us lol we’re convinced it’ll be coming back soon
The videogame that came out of Chaotic was terrible, but what you described would be amazing!
Yeah I remember getting the chaotic ps3 game
so do I. It was pretty bad. If I wanted a generic monster collection rpg, I'd just play pokemon or dragon quest monsters.
@@BewbsOP
Yeah. They focused on making it like the game when they SHOULD have been making it like the show.
I haven't forgotten it, I just enjoy
rewatching their anime again recently, and it just further solidified the difference between itself and others, especially Yu-Gi-Oh, because unlike Yu-Gi-Oh, Chaotic sticks to its own IRL game rules, mind you that's because chaotic set up it's actual gaming rules prior to creating its show, which differs from the Yu-Gi-Oh TV series which was created originally from a manga, and we all know how Lawless those can get, regardless chaotic sticks to its rules always, and even more importantly it never cops out or Straight hands them a victory because they're the MCs, especially like how in YU Gi Oh almost every single episode just either creates a card out of freaking nowhere that just happens to save Yami's butt and then conveniently forgetting its purpose only one episode later or put a card in that does exist, except change its effect or its power " i mean seriously, Yu-Gi-Oh invented cards on the spot for plot convenience way too often and that is just bad storytelling" Plus chaotic does have its charm, and I actually quite prefer the anime-esk style in the later seasons but to each their own that's more of a opinion-based thing
Chibi Blaziken LoL right ?
That's one of the reasons why the original was never my favorite. Fortunately, that aspect of the anime(s) is pretty much gone now.

So how did it go?
I still remember the sort of creepy part with Tom (and I'm not one to poke at show logic on kid's shows) being part of the gaming card world and his real version of himself still being able to live life normally while his other self keeps playing in the world of Chaotic. Just recall as a kid being creeped out legit about how the game Tom might never be able to log off Chaotic and the other one never goes back to sync up and game Tom gets lost and forgotten forever.
@@mattisonfroese4092 magic doesnt have cards that are arbitrarily worse than others? what a stupid complaint
Who knows? The franchise still has a following, however small. With the existence of things like funding campaigns and the like, maybe the creator can find a way to get the show up again and bring back attention to the cards. Probably not, but I don't think it's impossible.

Oh shit. I thought those were two completely different Chaotic themed shows. I had no idea that it was just one show.
Its really weird when it just suddenly transitions between the 2 art/animation styles out of nowhere as the seasons dont really have a finale.

bro you forgot the best one. Viva pinata!

About the other seasons, the change of animation style really hurts his personality :(
for me their downsides as you said is how the games (the trading card game and their video games) got develop, is like Duelmasters but reverse. (Awful TV show but awesome card game)
When this was localized to latin america, we only got the series post the first season. idk how much I missed about that? but? I loved the idea so much? Taht it just threw me into the fray without a single word of backstory. just throw me into a cohesive story without need of Backstory heck ye

Chaotic was a gem and is honestly one of the very few good things we got out of 4Kids. I never got around to actually playing the online game but that doesn't mean I didn't collect a shitload of cards. The game wasn't too bad either.
And then 4-Kids screwed up one of the best things they ever did with that stupid lawsuit! It was a lot of fun while it lasted though.
this is a weird find on a youtube recommended feed.
Okay, actually I can think of a second offensive thing, and that's *not getting the F-Zero dub to do the final Falcon Punch.*
Besides, you can't talk about 4kids without talking about...........the One Piece Rap.
*hears DigiRap suddenly*
NOT THAT RAP.
it was actually Yu-gi-oh that started it all.
I honestly liked the rap for one piece....
BTW I forget was the "4Kids National Anthem" on Fox or CW? Seems like a Fox thing to me... That was probably network mandated.
This show awakened a few things in me
