I can’t deny the fact that zootopia gave me an inspiration for furries
I think that's the most obvious one
Zootopia made me a furry, for sure. But I was attracted to it because of some stuff I watched when I was younger
there was a film for me in the year 1995 is called "Animalympics". And many Disney Films too (Robin Hood).
I think that Zootopia or sonic may have actually started my shift into a furry, although I still have a bit until I get used to the idea of being a furry.

Im aware that The Click has converted many people into furries. He claims he isn't a furry but he'll confess someday. As for me personally, my friend introduced me to the animation meme community. I started out making content with normal cats, then did a meme that required the animal to be anthropromorphic, and yeah, now here I am.

I’m rather disappointed and insulted that you didn’t mention the Madagascar franchise.
I was made a furry by a combination of the Madagascar franchise, Sonic the hedgehog, Skylanders, and Lego Chima. I also had a bit of an obsession with a few books that may have influenced me a bit but nothing to much.

What personally turned me into a furry was when I watched the 2D lion king and any classic or Renaissance disney movies with sentient animal characters (sentient as in, having human intelligence, human features and the ability to talk).
I also watched tons of classic looney tunes as a child, as well as 2D/live action hybrid films (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, LT: Back in Action, Space Jam, etc)
When I got a older (but was still a kid) I continued to watch cartoons because, well, I love animation! I got into MLP G4, the looney tunes show, regular show, American Dragon, TAWOG, etc. I think you see the connection.
When I turned 18 I continued to watch all sorts of animated shows, and even finished up MLP since it was my comfort show as a kid; I had depressive episodes and needed something more lighthearted, even if that lighthearted show had really dramatic moments and surprisingly mature topics lol
As for other shows, I watched Bojack Horseman, Final Space, etc, but I also still watch family-friendly cartoons. And as my username suggests, I love toony characters! It may sound unusual for a furry, but when I watched Into the Spiderverse, Spider-Ham was immediately my favorite character. Not just because he’s an anthropomorphic character and had the personality I like, but also because he’s very reminiscent of classic toons.
And yes, I got into Beastars and Zootopia, and that made my furry interests stronger xD
Edit: OH! I forgot to clarify that when I say “sentient” that means I’m grouping feral and anthro characters together. The furry community tends to separate the terms “anthro” and “anthropomorphic,” but even when I say anthropomorphic, a lot of them assume that all characters I draw have human bodies. I do have what are called anthro characters, but also feral anthropomorphic characters in the same world. So as an attempt to simplify things, I just say sentient. As in, human sentience, which is apparently scientifically different from animal sentience… man, scientists are weird.
try sapience. That's the ability to reason and think as smart as a human. Sentience is the ability to feel, something all animals have.

Fun fact watching your videos is actually what really introduced me to the Furry Fandom and it has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had
For me, the nail in the coffin was Calvin and Hobbes. I liked the idea of an imaginary friend so I created one for myself (an arctic fox). Later on I started drawing him as a representation of myself (a red fox) and eventually he kinda just became my fursona!

Creating imaginary characters is a great way to become a furry. I think most fursonas must have started out that way.

Yeah for me I created 2 fursonas for myself but they're practically 2 of my separate personalities 1 is a wolf who likes to drink a lot of whiskey and likes to get into fights and is an asshole to people (basically my angry side when people piss me off) and my second fursona is the one in my PFP my raccoon fursona which he's cuning but also psychopathic at times and is basically a kingpin and owns multiple fronts that cover his illegal operations and doesn't care if he has to get his hands dirty if you know what I mean.
(Basically the raccoon is my cunning side but no I'm not an actual psychopath I just added that in for my fursona)
I can think of something that is often overlooked and way older than Pokemon .
We probably all watched Disney movies as young kids long before Pokemon , and thus Robin Hood is probably what triggered an interest for furries in a lot of people :P
I would say that my big 3 factors that made me a furry were Warrior Cats, Pokemon, and Animal Jam.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series was definitely one of the most impactful things in my life and a big reason why I became a furry. I was going through rough times in my life when I was a teen and this game, where the setting is that the player turns into a pokemon and is transported to a world only inhabited by pokemon, provided perfect escapism. This series was dear to me and helped me carry through those rough years.

I didn't know about furries until 2017 when I first stared using the internet. Before that, I was basically a natural furry my whole life. Until that point, I thought I was the only one with an interest in anthropomorphic animals as I didn't, (and still don't) have any friends, or people around me with the interest. I have a lot of inspirations to becoming one. (Too many to list here.) When I was a kid, I was into dogs, kangaroos, and rodents. Mostly dogs. Later, when I was a young teen, I started liking foxes, raccoons, and opossums. That has stuck until now. Now that I'm an older teen, foxes are my main interest. I still love all the other animals I listed above, (some of my characters are these) but foxes are right up there at the top.
(And yes. I was a very cringey kid, and tbh, I still am. And I don't have any regrets.)

Honestly, I think reading Wings of Fire got me spiraling down the internet path of animation which slowly led to one of your videos. I learned a little more about furries and eventually designed my first fursona in August of 2021! Of course then I read warrior cats which just added to that. Now here I am, looking into making my own fursuit! Thanks for kickstarting my furry future!

I would say, one of the things that made me a furry was the movie Alpha and Omega. Beastars, BNA and the rest of those series/movies were all big contributors too. But embarrassing enough, the way I found out what a furry is, was though Fortnite.. the in-game skin Fennix. Yes he is an anthropic fox. That was 9 years later btw.
Alpha and Omega definitely wasn't what made me a furry, but it DEFINITELY had something to do with it lol one of my favorite movies growing up
@@Anna-tw1he Same, I totally don't have a big collection of Alpha and Omega movies and even books hah! (Though the last movies were.. not that good..) Yeah it did not make me a furry, cause I did not know what a furry was, seeing as I only were 7 years old back in 2010. But it was one contributor and my favourite movie back then. And one more movie that I liked back then was "Cats & Dogs: The Revenge Of Kitty Galore". Don't know if that has anything to do with it though.

Mines was me recently watching "the nut job" a movie about squirrels trying to get nuts after surly the protagonist blows up the oak tree etc but this isn’t my first time being a furry! I left the furry fandom a year and an half ago but I’m glad to be back
Warrior cats is what definitely lead me into making my fursona. I always really loved animals so it was only a matter of time I guess. Although now, watching James Cameron's Avatar has lead me to changing a lot of my Ocs into a custom alien species. Still a furry, but now with a LOT more creative freedom.
I think the original Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper games were my introduction xD

I've never cared for humans characters even in well written stories, but thenio I played the dumpster fire of RaC 2016 and I cared more that idiot floofball than I have cared for any other character.
I believe it was my obsession with Sonic The Hedgehog after playing "Sonic Adventure 2 Battle" on the Nintendo Gamecube towards my senior year at high school back in 2003 that helped me realize that I was a furry due to my love for anthropomorphic animal characters, thought I didn't actually discover the furry fandom until around a few years later, and I found it to be something that appealed to me ever since.
You forgot Fnaf. That played a huge part for me as well as Spirit Animals (a book series like warrior cats) and Wild Kratts (which made me interested in anthros)

i've always loved animals and connected with them more and wanted to be one so. i was basically born a furry, media and deviantart just helped that along

back in 1995 i watch an anime called Silver fang i watched it's about 200 times as a kid. also at the end of 90's where Digimon was the big thing i fell in love with Renamon i ofter used a p2p program at that time called Kazaa to download img of Renamon. it was first about when i was 15 the start of 00 i know what a furry was and i saw myself as one so it's now 21+ years later and I'm still a furry.
I think it was just a result of my parents letting me watch a lot of animated shows/movies with animals in them (Like The fox and the hound,Bolto,Lady and the Tramp, I think there was also a show named the little polar bear...)
Either way, Warriors also just strengthened the whole thing and when Zootopia came out I already was like: oh yeah this is 100% for me
Beatrix Potter inspired me as a kid, and she still inspires me! She basically wrote a bunch of horror stories, but with cute animals living in a quaint pastel version of England.

Ok heres how i became a furry: Watched zootopia at 7, my sister made me watch it another 20 times, then i watched beastars. I became a real big fan, ended up reasearching the crap out of Beastars and the furry fandom. Then i realised "Furries are not bad at all. They are nice, normal people. And i became one. yup.

My first exposure to things that would make me a furry were probably the Animorphs books. That, and Wings of Fire. Sonic X didn’t help.

I'm not entirely sure why i'm a furry, my best explanation is that I watched a crap ton of shows with animals characterized in a human like way like yo gabba gabba our dinosaur train, but I wanna say my biggest factor was five nights at freddy's. The idea of killer animatronics having personalities was like some kinda a spark, and yes I will admit I had a wolf phase when I was a kid and it was mostly because all the different foxy's or alpha and omega and other wolf movies.

For me I was just always obsessed with animals and was that kid that would “want to be the dog” while playing house with other kids..
But if I had to choose something that made me a furry, it would have to be a combination of Martha speaks, dinosaur train, how to train your dragon, and warriors

This might just be me being old, but I was kind of surprised that Loony Tunes wasn't mentioned, or at least Space Jam.
I think the thing that did it for me was most likely Star Fox, though. 'Specially Adventures.
I also find it interesting that you didn't show or mention Gardevoir or Rouge in the Pokémon and Sonic segments.

Me and my best friend read wings of fire in sync! It had some sort of weird effect on me and not her though. The main difference is she isn’t a furry.
As a kid I would always draw people that also looked like animals, (animals that would stand on 2 legs) and also I was going through youtube and I saw your videos, that's how I because a furry.

I became a furry from my long lost bff. Yes sadly I lost him don't know what happened he just stopped playing roblox without a warning. I think he died from the virus. But he got me to be a furry I was never a hater but I had a LOT of friends that where haters but I didn't let that get to the best of me. Also I wanted to lay low and not reveal that I am a furry to most people. But one day I don't know what happened but I didn't care if people I know online knew if I was or not but on the other hand I will not tell anyone especially my parents in person. The only way to get me to say that I am is if they ask and only 2 people I know in person know that I am that is my best in person friend and my cousin. But I'll get a fursona when I stop growing and move out. When I feel brave enough I'll eventually tell my parents but I don't know if they know what a furry is or if they are haters. If you read this this means everything to me sorry for the long message.

Crystal from Starfox Adventures. I never played the game myself, but I watched a let's play of it and thought, "man I wish I was that cute". Then recently I found the furry UA-cam community and, well, now I'm in the process of developing my own fursona. I have officially drank the kool-aid guys lol

What made me a furry? Watching the primetime preview of Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers: To The Rescue, and the exact moment when the hatch opened and out stepped Gadget. (Though muffy Mouse from Today's Special and Pammy from Shirt Tales helped guide me to the path too.)
I feel like the thing that contributed to me being a furry was BNA. The first time I actually realized that I was a furry was when I saw the trailer for it when it got recommended to me. I was so interested in it and wished that I was a beastman (I know that sounds kind of dumb, but I thought the idea of being one was cool). Now, I've fully embraced my furry side and have been trying to make my fursona for a while.

For me it was The Lion King at age 12. I loved the movie so much that I started reading backstories about Scar or Kopa. I found a site where people had uploaded their own OCs and their avatars were colorful Lion King characters! I wanted to make my own. It looked very fun to draw "myself" as a lion.
