I made my fursona on accident. I was playing Skyrim and wanted to make a Khajiit and I was playing around with the hairs and colours. I ended up making a ginger tabby with long gold hair and a white nose and I just... felt a connection.
I’m going to be telling about my fursona that I made with this vid! If you read it all the way thank you! Oat is a calm shy otter. He lives in America (I’m going for America before the Europeans came) most otters live in groups, but Oat is a lone wolf. He travels alone because that’s how he was raised. Alone. His main food source is berries leaves, and small insects. During the day he gathers water from natural wells in the soil with a tightly woven basket he wears around his back. In Oats free time he is gathering berries and leaves to make paints with. Oat has a strange addiction of having paint on his fur all the time. Oat also enjoys playing with a sling shot he made. He keeps most of his supplies in his belt. Everywhere there are these huge flowers that soak up lots of sun during the day and curl up during the night. Oat usually sleeps in these flowers as they make excellent sleeping bags. Ty for reading all the way here:3 here is a cookie!🍪
Really nice and educational video! I love how much it differed from the typical "how to create a fursona" video. It was really cool to see you create an original species as you went along too! And I love the joke at the beginning, Susan being very similar to many a furries first fursona XD
I really like all the thought and consideration that was put into this video. There's so much detail here, and lots of considerations and creative problem solving when it comes to informed design choices. But it feels more like "How to make an Original Character" than "How to make a Fursona". Of course, the definition of "fursona" is different for everyone, but I think this method goes way further than what most people are looking for in terms of "an anthropomorphized animal-creature to represent me". There's nothing wrong with that, and this level of intensity and world-building very well might be what some people out there are looking for, but I think for a lot of people in the fandom, they seem to want something more with a more narrow and specifically pertaining to the character than the world. And perhaps more focused on how to represent parts of THEMSELVES, rather than representing the cool creative ideas about whole original planet with an original creature running around on it. Something centered and rooted in who they are, and what parts of that they want to express or highlight. Tips for how to use visual design choices to express an individual's own personality, interests, and values on a fursona character would be something I'd love to see y'all tackle cause I think you'd do a really good job.
Thanks! And yes we considered the approach you are referring to before making the vid. However we noticed that there were A BUNCH of vids that were already taking that approach. We wanted to tackle the topic in our own fun way! Plus its the way we came up with our characters
The video was in my recommendations, I clicked on it by curiosity and was agreeably surprised! I loved the details, pace, music and overall vibe, keep up the good work and can't wait to see more!
This is definitely really helpful for people struggling out there, and straight from the start, it goes into super helpful detail. You both have done a fantastic job!
Thanks! I tried to take it into a route i havent seen yet. Alot of people seem scared to give guidance on character creation. Maybe its out of a fear of backlash? But honestly i think by not giving structure you end up basically saying nothing at all. Its not that people cant break that framework and rules, but its important for them to start with them before they do so they know why they want to break them!
My fursona is who I see myself as. She's a purple goat, but is actually a Capricorn. She wants to be an idol, but due to her size, she's nervous about it. EDIT: I have changed things about my fursona. She is now a cat goat hybrid, but the idol stuff is still the same. It’s both her size and being a hybrid that she’s worried about.
This is a very informative video! As a writer, I think this going to help me a lot in making relatable characters for my book, a great video as always! ^^
I’m not all too familiar with this community, but I’m going down a bit of a rabbit hole and it’s quite interesting to be sure. I’m happy everyone has something like this they enjoy!!!❤
This is a super good run through and very nice info! One thing to REALLY consider is if you’re going to make a fursuit OR commission a fursuit of this fursona. Please do make sure to stick to a more simple design and colors that aren’t to hard to find and not to specific (as if fur color) as for the person you commission, it’ll be hard for them to work if there are so many patterns 😊❤
I don't draw much so I'm not too used to drawing fur because I mostly draw persona's but now I want to make a fursona cause I'm feeling a bit brave about it this time, Thank you for making this video because it will definitely make designing my character a whole lot easier now thanks to you.
something i also noticed is that it doesnt really matter the country of origin. you can even hear it in foreign accents. e.g. chipflake has a british accent but still gives the vibe
Just took my first stab at drawing anything resembling a fursona a few days ago, but didn't spend much time on the concept. I'm gonna use this guide to build a better concept, then revisit it when I've improved enough at drawing to not expect to _completely_ screw up a design that's not _completely_ basic. Which could be years, drawing is a "when I feel like it" hobby and I've "felt like it" a couple dozen times over the last year, but having a goal to work towards might help me feel motivated to practice more often.
All creations are reflective of thier makers, if you and I were both given the topic "Space man" we would both likely make very different things! so dont worry too much if you think its not YOU enough because i promise it very much is
I remember when I was first trying to make my sona I found this, helped a lot! Don’t think I would’ve been able to get very far without this video. Thanks!
My fursona is a more humanoid leaning wolf-thing. And since I like magic, I made them a mage, and had more of a side hobby as a alchemist. They aren't well liked among the village they live in. I had no idea what to name them, so for a while I was calling them 'Blank' or 'Point Blank' and it just kinda stuck. They're basically a walking reference to ocs I have, things I have irl, and my friends. They use They/Xe/Ve/E pronouns and they are and Omnisexual-Ace Genderfluid. Their zodiac is Sagittarius, and they're mostly introverted.
Don't know how I got here, but I found the process extremely fascinating. Was very much worth the stay to hear the analytical aspects of character design during the process of creation.
I drew a sketch of a silly purple bat in a very depressive state, they grew to be my comfort character, I redesigned them beyond recognition since then, they’re an aardwolf-bat hybrid, and the character design took me hours
I made a arctic wolf who is named Icey! Don’t have fur suit of it and don’t have many drawings of it, but their main color is white and their secondary color is blue! I like it being simple.
Wow, thanks! I didn’t realize there were so many important things to keep in mind when designing a fursona, good timing too, thanks UA-cam recommendations. I’ll definitely think about this when designing characters from now on
Honestly when making my fursona, my species was a secondary thought cause I just wanted a character that was me. Making her a bat was just an aesthetic thought afterwards.
I’m not exactly a part of the furry fandom, but I really like their creativity! I don’t know how to make something I’m happy with though I hate everything I make 😀
I love, love LOVE this video, I know I wanna base my fursona off of the song The Exorcist and now I realized that is should start with worldbuilding before a design or backstory, thank you
I watched a lot of videos "How to make fursona" but this one helped me the most. Thank u! It was very important to make fursona look different than others, because i will make fursuit of my fursona and i want to ppl remember me when they will see me. So i deleted all canines from my list, then cats and dragons. And because birds r kinda rare i wanted something like bird, but not exactly bird and lizards r kinda rare too. So option was clear; my favorite dinosaur, archaeropteryx lithographica. But now her colors and markings. I love sunsets, so she is themed around sunset colors like red, yellow, orange and purple. Because in sunset there r starting to shine stars, she has glowing parts too on her tail. On what she likes/dislikes i'm still working.
I tried furry art twice, once thinking of a species ahead of time and on the other going through this process and thinking of the species first was very helpful to me at least
This is the perfect video for me since I am trying to make my new fursona as a person new to the furry community- I just joined it but I used to support it and nothing else but now I am part of it, I’m proud of that. I got the looks and design but I need their personality and flaws.
I have a fursona that is supposed to reflect me with all my likes, dislikes, abilities, disabilities, and more, but honestly this tutorial has made me see that its kinda weird for what i was going for. theyre supposed to be a hybrid between a racoon and a canadian lynx, with an astral theme (cause i like space a lot lol), but it dosent make since. it mostly looks like a standard house cat with purple dye and stars taped on XD. guess i have some redesigning to do
I just wanna say thank you for putting in 3:20 - 3:35 because I've been seeing a lot of hate towards these people & having a metal illness isn't fun to joke about. So I wanted to say thank you a lot for adding this (again)
What sent me down the path of creating an undead character was both experiencing quite a bit of loss throughout my childhood and the song “living dead girl” by rob zombie. Among other songs of morbid sort. And a word of advice from a person of science: when creating a character that is a herbivorous mammal, make sure the eyes are on the sides of the head, not forward facing. Only predators have forward facing eyes. Unfortunately, most media negates this, ending up with anatomical nightmares like “zootopia”. the right pupils matter too, like how goats have horizontal - shaped pupils.
excellent! By having real life experience in it you can really make a character shine by your deep understanding of the challenges and victories associated with them!
This definitely helped me think about stuff for my fursona. I already had a bit of personality, species and a name, but I gotta finish the personality and a design. I think a flaw is a good thing too and I thought of of one perfect for her during the video
Wow! This was really helpful to me, I now finally have a an idea of how I want to make my fursona! The only negative I would have to say about the video is that the background was a bit distracting for me. Other than that, great video!
Soo this vídeo Gave me enough creativity to make my own species its name is: kamos my character has a leopard like tail , deer ears , normal Paws ( like the typical Paws with beans-) now the legs are like a deers legs ( colors: primary color is a light brown , secondary : white , hooves , beans : black they are Also really floofy and kinda weak) they live on a planet filled with flora and fauna they are Also omnivores, theyre main prey are: bugs fruit and fish. Now my character is a male , 1.56 in height ( they are short-). Flaws: they are half blind due to a injury from a Giant bug that it was about to catch when it was 11 years old Food: fish: they have a long tongue that they put in the Rivers to catch the local marine animals . Fruit: the use their tail to grasp onto branches to easily move around on trees and pick its fruits/berries. Bugs: they just find a bug and use its long tongue as like a frog tongue and just eats it as a snack- Water: it basicly just drinks water from a river as its body has enough cells to decompose the bacteria in the water. And this is the abomination i created :D
i recently started talking to friends about converting my fursona into a living plushie, watching the more hesitant ones suddenly enthusiastically support the idea by simply posting a picture of Sally from TNBC has been so much fun.
You guys are doing something right, because I am from other countrie that don't talk English and you too were recommended to me... I really liked the content on your channel.
WAIT, SUSAN IS JUST MY DESIGN BUT A SPARKLEDOG AND I WANT HER- But thank you for this tutorial, I've always wanted to make one for myself, but I never knew where to start.
this helped quite alot mine is named sky and the species is water/aqua cat but got bit by a pygmy dragon which infected sky , and grew various dragon parts
Hi sundae, my sona is jax and he is also a undead boy. Unlike your which is a zombie, jax is a revenant and is stuck in the mortal realm by a task he didnt do. And I'm just really happy I see another undead boy. Also, dont try to eat jax's brain, or even try. He is stronger than he looks and can explode on command. His flaw is the fact that he is easily tricked and is naive as hell. He loves to tease and joke though.
Hehe, im totally gonna follow this guide! I have figured out I wanna make some form of lava themed moth or smth who’s basically me :D might give them clothes, might not, we’ll see. but the clothes would def be alt as hell bc that is my desired fashion/somewhat what I kinda wear sometimes when the depression isnt kicking my a$$ lol
I'm not a furry but i have an online friend that is and i just think that furrys have really good commentarys and i don't know why. Like why are y'all so good at just talking!?
I’m kind of in the denial stage. I guess that I’m just scared of getting a million toxic comments for everything I say and do if I were to come out as a furry. I’ve always been super interested in the humanoid animal kind of design, and have been drawing similar things for years. Especially anthropomorphic creatures. I’m not entirely sure if I should go ahead and come out or just keep ignoring the suspicion-
Hi! I’m new to your channel and I was wondering if I could make a fursona that’s the same species as the black owl (I think it’s an owl lol) also, if it’s an open species, what is the species called?
good general overall advice for character and story development here. also, you're the first promethian type sona I've seen in 20 years (yes, I'm a gremuzzle...or greybeak in my case). sometimes it takes years to completely settle on all the aspects of one's character, so don't worry if things take a while.
I think a character that would have kind of a symbiotic relationship with snakes, the character would be paralysed in the arms but the snakes can help articulate the arms.
Love all these, ‘not a furry, BUT-‘ comments.

The adorable undead floof ball is back! :D
Thanks for waiting for us! We just keep getting more and more busy as of late lol
@@SeveredSundae that's ok, like has a habit of getting in the way of things so don't worry about it 😁
Okay, so I was interested to know how to make a fursona, But I think you just cured my writers block paired with that. Sooooo, thanks for that! :D
0:09 meanwhile neocryptics arm has gained sentience and is trying to get free from being attached to neos body
I mean, it happens to everyone
especially zombies
@@fluffuwu1922 exactly!
@@SeveredSundae so if i put two and two together thennn Neco must be a zombie
Damn I never made my fursona like that. He was a pizza delivery guy in a dream I had. I might try this method for making some new ocs though.
I'm going make my fursona a ampute because losing a limb to my diabetes is a very real fear
i recently started talking to friends about converting my fursona into a living plushie, watching the more hesitant ones suddenly enthusiastically support the idea by simply posting a picture of Sally from TNBC has been so much fun.
You guys are doing something right, because I am from other countrie that don't talk English and you too were recommended to me...
I really liked the content on your channel.
My first fursona is an alien racoon who is also a jester (i was actually pretty proud of it) but this helped still
Wasn't a furry, decided to become one to piss off conservatives
Now I'm having fun making my fursona, thanks for the tips .w.
always happy to share stuff that helped me!
WAIT, SUSAN IS JUST MY DESIGN BUT A SPARKLEDOG AND I WANT HER-
But thank you for this tutorial, I've always wanted to make one for myself, but I never knew where to start.
I Have Been Really Wanting To Make My Own Fursona And This Helps A Lot Thanks! ^^
this helped quite alot mine is named sky and the species is water/aqua cat but got bit by a pygmy dragon which infected sky , and grew various dragon parts
Yay! more deadish bois!
@@SeveredSundae I ain't going into jax's whole life story but know he is an undead and will stay that way for a while.
But he looks fairly alive, dont be fooled by his alive appearance, he is undead
Hehe, im totally gonna follow this guide! I have figured out I wanna make some form of lava themed moth or smth who’s basically me :D
might give them clothes, might not, we’ll see. but the clothes would def be alt as hell bc that is my desired fashion/somewhat what I kinda wear sometimes when the depression isnt kicking my a$$ lol
Great video as always! Deffinetly put a lot more thought into this fursona than mine lol
Well this is just one of many methods! I think yours is lovely!
I'm not a furry but i have an online friend that is and i just think that furrys have really good commentarys and i don't know why. Like why are y'all so good at just talking!?
years of being the loud kid that never shuts up lol
@@SeveredSundae honestly same..😔
(My best friend is considering murder because of me lol)
Thank you so much! It helped me improve luna, my wolfsoul!(don’t ask me what it is!)
helped more than literally any video so far
I’m kind of in the denial stage. I guess that I’m just scared of getting a million toxic comments for everything I say and do if I were to come out as a furry. I’ve always been super interested in the humanoid animal kind of design, and have been drawing similar things for years. Especially anthropomorphic creatures. I’m not entirely sure if I should go ahead and come out or just keep ignoring the suspicion-
advice: don't outright say you're a furry and everything should go well
This helped me make more ocs!! This isn't just for lil silly furry guys it's also can be used for lil silly oc guys!!!!
Hi! I’m new to your channel and I was wondering if I could make a fursona that’s the same species as the black owl (I think it’s an owl lol) also, if it’s an open species, what is the species called?
good general overall advice for character and story development here. also, you're the first promethian type sona I've seen in 20 years (yes, I'm a gremuzzle...or greybeak in my case). sometimes it takes years to completely settle on all the aspects of one's character, so don't worry if things take a while.
is it ok if I make my character have autism and adhd?( I HAVE THEM BOTH )
yes of course!!
Yes :D
Why did this vid teach me more than my science teacher
cause teachers arent rad zombies
Thanks :D.
I now have a proper fursona!
I think a character that would have kind of a symbiotic relationship with snakes, the character would be paralysed in the arms but the snakes can help articulate the arms.
The first video I watched and I already love it!
I don't consider myself a furry but I want to explore my creativity and make/draw a fursona and I found this video very helpful!
glad we could help! good luck on the character!
See you again, when I have improved anatomy
Good luck survivor!
This is a pretty good tutorial, glad I come across this one!
Im glad you came across it too!
Yay new video!
Love ya vids sundae and neo
That means a lot to hear! Thank you so much!
this is actually so helpfu for me making OC's and fursonas since i make all my ocs mainly cats/ animals
Me making a racoon, ferret and opposum mix with autism cuz I have autism with a marshmallow on a stick as a prop >:)
even if you didn't mention it i still would've been able to tell you're autistic 💀
