Father Larry, you are the best. In the mid 90's (I forget the date) I attended one of your 4 day sessions in Exeter NH. There was a sign in front of the church that said: YOU WILL NOT BE BORED, AND YOUR LIFE WILL BE CHANGED FOREVER. It sooooooooo was changed. You brought me back to the church. I had been gone for decades. I can never thank you enough.
This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear before attending the Penitential Mass tomorrow night, I was feeling so anxious about my Confession for many of the same reasons as the writer. I'm feeling much more at ease...thank you Father Larry, may God continue to bless you.
It's weird that I found you and you told me exactly what I needed to hear...I've been grinding about this same exact problem for a long time...so thank-you and thank-you God or maybe the other way around .
"God knows your sins but calls you by your name, and the devil knows your name but calls you by your Sin>" Wow. This is the most insightful truth I have heard in so many years. Thank you, Father Richards.
Thank you father you will never know how much that meant to me! Thank you for your wise words! I am focusing on The Almighty one my father Jesus Christ ❤
I go to confession every few weeks and I am usually the only one waiting, yet everybody goes to communion. It makes me sad that more people don't cleanse themselves before dining with the Lord.
OMG DID I NEED TO HEAR THAT ,,,,,I AM THAT PERSON YOU SPOKE ABOUT......LAST YEAR A PRIEST TOLD ME THAT HAD I NOT CONFESSED ALL MY SINS IT WAS A BAD CONFESSION EVEN THOUGH AT THAT TIME I DID NOT WILLFULLY LEAVE OUT ANYTHING..............THIS IS SUCH A GOOD WAY FOR ME TO START THE NEW YEAR,,,,,,,BUT YOU ARE RIGHT IT IS IMPORTANT TO TRUST JESUS AND SOMETIMES THAT IS HARD TO DO BUT AFTER YOUR VIDEO I WILL MAKE A RENEWED EFFORT...THANK YOU SO MUCH...
I found an old fashioned examination of conscience which gives very specific guidelines. To my horror when I went through it i found I had committed more of them than not😮
I have asked a number of priests, and half contradict the other half. No wonder there is so much anxiety. Surely something like this should be standard no matter which priest you ask.???
I've been struggling this with for the last 2 years since coming back to the Church. Not even a week ago though, another Priest made a video about this same topic with a complete different answer. This is killing me.
The reason why sins come to haunt you back after confession is 1) they were not repented properly by true sorrow (which is a supernatural grace that you can not choose to have, but you can pray for God to grant you) 2) you still love the sin after confession, you did not turn away from the sin completely and truly. If you hate the sin it will not come back to you. I say this because I have had these experiences before.
I think my focus on myself at times, is from the perspective that I am not worthy. My sins are an abomination of morality. I will try to muster the courage to confess but I do not want to taint the heart or mind of my confessor. I will try.
Thank you father Larry , for it is my anguish not knowing how to do it rightly. Jesus, l ‘m sorry for my sins, Jesus, l trust in You, amen! Jesus, forgive me, pardon grant me, amen
When I confess my sins in confession I end it with “For these and all the sins of my past life, I am heartily sorry”. I have done this for every confession in my life since I was very very young. 🙏❤️🙏 I can’t remember correctly, but I think one of my grade school Nuns taught me this.
Doesn't the church teach that one is obligated to bring unconfessed mortal sins from the past to confession, and if one doesn't do so, it is a sacrilege?
This is Moe from Fr Larry's office, I will put out your question for his LIVE Thursday 3pm EST podcast - www.youtube.com/@frlarryrichards He will not be on this week because of Holy Week.
The devil reminds us of sin all of the time confessed or unconfessed. Keep your self in daily prayer and the Rosary be choosy with whom you interact with, choose God instead.
Be comforted then - you missed the vital context! "God knows your sin, but he calls you by name. The devil knows your name, but he calls you by your sin".
Please listen to the song THE MILITARY ZOO by The Plumbs CDBABY and tell me if it is of Jesus or Satan. I wrote it and it has tortured me all my life. Help.
See now I always learned that yes, all your sins are forgiven in confession, but if you remember a mortal sin you forgot you still have to mention it at your next confession. Maybe this isn't true for a convert who can't possibly remember everything from decades ago.
36 And when you take a girl that a man brought into the world and dishonour her without dowering her, that is to say that you sleep with her without dowering her, whether she wanted it or not, you are a thief and the Bible says that thieves will not go to Heaven. If a wandering chicken has a guardian, it is not a girl who will not have any. And I cannot understand how such men repented and they are pastors in the evangelical churches. It is in the house of your husband that you must lose your virginity, otherwise you are a curse for your parents and for the whole earth. And a man has no right to sleep with a woman that he has not dowered. Such a man is a curse for himself, for his house and for the whole earth. [Ed: The congregation says, "Amen!"]. You nailed it! Just went yesterday and all of sudden all these other sins popped up. Even in my dreams. Now I know.
It's weird that I found you and you told me exactly what I needed to hear...I've been grinding about this same exact problem for a long time...so thank-you and thank-you God or maybe the other way around .
Ty Father all these years later I have been attacked so horribly these last 6 months! Now I know why!!! Thx for sharing this!
Thank you Father. Amen
Father Larry, thank you so much, I like the way you explain everything you talk about. You are amazing, to the point. Thank you,
"God knows your sins but calls you by your name, and the devil knows your name but calls you by your Sin>"
Wow. This is the most insightful truth I have heard in so many years. Thank you, Father Richards.
Can you answer a very simple question. Could your church survive with this so called devil. Yes or no will suffice

I second that! YOU ARE THE BEST! Also forget sins, remember later, I am sorry. But I actually forget to ask THIS QUESTION! Have a blessed life.
All you have to do is believe in the one whom God sent the man Jesus christ
Thank you u r cool

I have a hard time when you say the devil knows my name, the devil is not my brother

Yes, you have to repent of any sins you remember. This talk was very confusing.. off to look at my catechism😅
