  • Do you have bad breath? I don't mean stinky breath, but a less than optimum breathing style because of the stiffness in your ribcage?
    Your ribs meet your sternum at cartilage junctions that can stiffen and ossify (turn to bone) as we age. But a hardened rib cage is not an inevitable end for us all!
    Use a soft, inflated ball, such as the Yoga Tune Up Coregeous ball to help mobilize the soft and hard tissues at the front of your ribcage. Learning to breathe better, while simultaneously improving the pliability of your rib cage is just what you need to stave off bad breath forever!

    This is great! I do a lot of passive back bends/chest openers and this is a terrific complement to it. I'm experiencing a lot of benefits and doing it almost daily. Thanks!!

    Thank you so much for sharing this technique. I have been experiencing discomfort around a rib joint on my sternum that moves out of position for a few years. I tried this exercise and felt the joints move back into position. My upper back also popped and I could feel my neck and shoulders begin to relax as I exhaled and sank deeper into the medicine ball.

    Hi , I have literally just sat here , sniffed, then it feels like I've pulled a huge muscle on my left side back . Kind of just under my shoulder blade. I have rheumatoid arthritis and so I'm quite stiff . It's impossible for me to do any exercise the floor coz I can't get down or back up . But I've got things I've got to do today 😱 my daughter broke her foot two days ago and has come home needing to go back to hospital here !!!!! I need to take her today ! Lots of info and I'm not sure if this is the best way to ask for advice as I'm not good on computers etc But I'm a panicker, I walk with crutches, legs are fused bent coz of the arthritis .... So I REALLY can't do anything while this bloody pain is here , on top of my shitty mobility already!!! It's really hurting each breath I take !!!! ANY HELP please would be so appreciated 😱 x

      Hey! obviously 5 years late but this is something i’ve recently been dealing with too. if and when it does happen still/again, get someone to massage the bottom of your shoulder blade (or where it bothers you). the massaging essentially will move your rib from where it is, and it will get rid of that pain

    If your rib cage cartridge and intercostal muscles are stiff is it possible to have mechanical breathing issues? I have issues with paradoxically breathing and I am looking for answers. Please help

      This will definitely help with the stiffness and awareness so you can improve your posture. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

    Is this exercise good for correcting rib flare?

    • @aewellness
      @aewellness  6 років тому +2

      It won't correct it on it's own - you'll also have to retrain the muscles in the area to hold your ribs in a better position. Check out my video on Neutral Spine for the fix - it's a great follow up to this! ua-cam.com/video/ZgDNp8yaY20/v-deo.html Let me know how it goes :)

    Does this exercise help for pectus excavatum?thanks

    • @aewellness
      @aewellness  3 роки тому +1

      I wouldn't recommend it as you're putting more pressure on the front of the chest - I'd double check with a PT just to be sure!

    We don't breath by expanding the chest

    • @aewellness
      @aewellness  5 років тому +1

      There's three different "compartments" you can breathe into: chest/neck, ribs/thorax, and belly/diaphragm. So yes and no 😉 Your ribs do have to move to take a full inhalation.
