    Good stuff man! 😂 I was on a similar Journey as well this year, took me 7 month to do muscle up, once I did the first one, I can do 3 in a row, but my shoulders/scapular are too weak for my weight (210 lbs), I am transitioning to front lever Training, hoping that it’ll strengthen my scapular more. Keep it up!

    Guys, remember if you do muscle up like this guy you won't progress any further to a strict muscle up. To progress strict MU you need to train high pull ups trying aim to chest and lower for 3-5 reps each set, then you need to train transition part specifically on a low bar. You don't need to do any muscle ups at all (don't do it like this guy). You only need to train this 2 exercises high pull ups and transition for few months and then you get your strict clean muscle with perfect form in a first try. Good luck!

    • @mbblueskies
      @mbblueskies 6 днів тому

      What would be good exercises for the transition part?

    nice! you just really should always keep the thumbs around a bar. it much safer and also you can generate extra power by turning you wrists. it makes the whole movement easier

    Good job! Congrats :)
    But I have to point out that those are kipping muscle-ups, not strict muscle-ups (not that it's bad, but it's just a different one).
    Also, you your legs movement when coming up was funny asf xD
    But yeah you'd probably do better if you kept your core tight and your legs straight (not easier, but cleaner and helpful to keep energy between reps, which would allow you to do more in the end).

    What was the number of muscle negatives did you do until you moved on? What was the rep schem of the other exercises?
    I can comfortably do 15+ pull ups but no muscle ups

    • @Justin_Ly
      @Justin_Ly  5 місяців тому +1

      hey! I generally did 8 x 3 on most of the exercises. However, if you can do 15+ pull ups then I don't think it's a strength issue and rather a technique & timing issue. Focus on being really explosive and experiment with your timing. I found a resistance band is good to train with as you get the feeling of moving around and on top of the bar.

  • @chansesarmstrong4092
    @chansesarmstrong4092 Рік тому +1

    Good work man, however I'd recomend to stick to weighted pull ups. The muscle up becomes as easy as a push up at a point and progressive overload is difficult. Havent trained muscle ups in 5 years and i can still hit 10 clean deadhang just from explosivity gained from weighted pull ups and dips.

    • @Justin_Ly
      @Justin_Ly  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the comment mate!! 100% need to start doing more weighted pull-ups! Really good tip! 🔥

    This is really not the correct form for doing muscle ups. You kick with your leg without core and body engagement and flare the elbows to the point to be detrimental for your joint health. I would strongly advice you to stop that and work on correct technique. Instead of trying to do or convincing yourself you are doing 5 muscle ups whip you are not, work on doing a single muscle up with perfect technique and body engagement. And then progress from there towards more reps.

      Not sure what you goal is with your comment. I specifically searched this video to learn the journey of others, not to learn from someone that’s been doing it for years. He’s demonstrating his discipline and perseverance. It’s unfortunate you missed the point of the story. There are plenty of videos if viewers seek to learn about perfect form. I think he should continue to grow in his journey to overcome obstacles and you should find another video to watch! Have a blessed day!! :)
