      Yep, so many people try to seal entire areas with barbed wire whereas the optimal strategy is to funnel them into killzones. Completely sealing a point just hurts your team, and makes it much more likely they will satchel clear your defenses. When there is a gap, even if its a killzone, most people wont bother clearing it.

      @@GebatronGaming Maybe even a quick "5 maps, pick one 1 strong point, explain where you 'could' build defenses" video. It would really help explain the 'mindset'.
      A downside to wanting to 'control' the map/flow of enemies/traffic is that you need to have played a map A LOT (with different combinations of points) to start being able to predict enemies. At a modest 1700 HLL hours I can quite reliably predict garrisons, tank movements/paths, hot zones or crossfire, and (signs of) enemy flanking attempts.
      Engi building could completely mess up these senses, which is AWESOME!

    The building system definitely could use a bit of a rework, the hitboxes are so fucking bad that it prevents you from building stuff in areas where you clearly have space to do so.
    Also the upgrading process time could be like cut in half, it just takes way too long and most of the time you cant finish building everything to lvl3 before the game ends

    • @GebatronGaming
      @GebatronGaming  Рік тому +1

      I agree. It is a bit clunky for placing things. I also can’t stand that I can’t see the ends of the barbed wire when I’m placing it so I never know exactly what’s getting in my way.
      I think the reasoning behind taking a long time to upgrade is due to the idea that complex defenses should be a group effort and the time is reduced the more players that are hammering. It could be reduced a little, but I wouldn’t want it reduced too much. That’s just my opinion though. Thanks for commenting!

    Would love a video on the most underrated defensive strong points to focus on building up, or maybe a general top 10 on the subject could also be cool. For example Distillery is a little farther from the HQ because it's the center point on the map, but it's strong point is so small that if built up in a smart way, it's damn near impossible to cap because of the size of the strong point. Another one that's very underrated is Flak Position on SME. a lot of people don't think to build this one up because you can't use the supply truck to drop supplies for the engineer, but if you use a manpower node, and have the commander drop supplies from the sky, you can easily make it a fortress because it already has a lot of pre-existing barbed wire, sits on top of a hill, and is smacked in the middle of a field.

    • @GebatronGaming
      @GebatronGaming  Рік тому +1

      Totally agree on that Flak position. Some barbed wire to plug a couple holes and some barricades to help you move from trench to trench with cover can really make that spot a hard nut to crack. Thanks!

    • @StratosJ
      @StratosJ Рік тому +1

      Just keep in mind you can cap outside of strongpoint in warfare, and whenever you have the whole defense sitting inside strongpoint they get surrounded, lose the garrison to a tank, at rocket or a bombing run and it's game over from there on.
      Strengthening the strongpoint rarely makes sense except for offensive game mode, and even there it should only be the last resort.
      Speaking generally, ofc there are exceptions.

    • @DammitBobby

      @DammitBobby Fair enough. Still a bit weary of fortifying a center point because not only is it far so it'll take more time to bring supplies in, but it'll also be within reach of enemy recon right after they cap first point, so you may just end up barely starting and already having to deal with that shit. But then again it's pretty open there so if you take that into account while planning those defenses it might work, assuming defense holds out for long enough or you get your own recon to help out.

    • @DammitBobby

Some defensive structures are better than no defensive structures. I hear the same crap about garrisons where "experienced" players bitch about and degrade players for garrisons not in the "right" place. Garrisons anywhere are better than no garrison unless you are maxed out. There could be reasons that structure or garrison was put there that you don't realize and anyway its better than nothing! I always take a supply truck as soon as possible at the beginning of a match, and always build up defenses on the last point or second to last point on defense. Most of the time, it never gets to that but it gives me time to just stick endless amounts of supplies around the point, build what I want to build, leave some for others and already supplies there for a quick garrison to be placed, even if I delay the team by a minute or 2 minutes, that could be the difference between winning or not

    Playing Warfare on Hurtgen the other day and while both teams were fighting over the middle map point I go back to the north HQ on the American side to start building backup garries. I come across a lone engineer building barbed wire and barricades around the black circle of the first cap point. I’m guessing it was a newer player not realizing the point can be capped from the 4 squares around the point or maybe he thought we were playing Offensive. Either way, just an extreme waste of time and resources and I see this sort of thing a lot. Sometimes even higher level players building up defenses inside the black circle. This is why the tutorial is so needed.

      Its time really. imagine what one squad can do in a small area. compared to coordinating 4-5 squads (which is extremely rare) to stay on D and build around the circle. w 4-5 on D, your attack will fail most likely, and the opponents will attack you soon. Hence the "I need 2 squads on D" is most used because getting a 3rd or 4th, very hard.

    Using all of your defenses to fortify a single objective is such a misallocation of resources. a single wire built in the right spot can force infantry hundreds of meters off course. one hedgehog in the left lane can force that Tiger onto the mines on the right shoulder. Another fun tactic is to place a 99% baricade at the end of a road and hide next to it. when a tank approaches, you one tap with the hammer to block its path. then quickly place a hedgehog directly behind it 😂. might be less efficient than a mine or a satchel, but it's hilarious. works extremely well Omaha Beach. the northern US HQ has that narrow path up the hillside to the trenches, and there's another one in front of the middle HQ, but it's a bit easier for them to get around.

  • @koningA

    Another quick note: If you build up your 2nd point in Warfare mode, you can defend it with HALF the squads you'd normally need and becomes MUCH easier to attack the enemy. The 3rd point wins the game but defending the 2nd point is the most crucial to attack.

I see spots on maps that would make amazing fobs to help defend usually 50-100m from strongholds and normally always in the cap sectors but nobody ever thinks about defending the sectors only the strongpoint itself. I whole heartly believe it is because the game fails to tell people that you can cap within the 4 sectors and not just strong point, they really need a little ww2 style briefing video on the modes that anyone can watch at anytime. Like "this is warzone soldier, you and your men have to capture the enemy sectors while defending your own, remember that the strongpoints add cap value but enemies in the sectors still provide pressure. I do agree with looking for creative ways to fortify. But claiming "the attacking side will just have to keep going onto the next road and onto the next is just kinda silly. You can attempt this redirect but dont assume that they wont get past your 1 tanktrap. - You are buying minutes at best in such a poor defensive position.

    The only problem with all this is that planned out defenses do not work.
    Not because they are designed wrong, but because unit cohesion is not existent.
    Rarely do you get multiple squads of manpower and the commander to be able to work out, and execute such defenses in any timely way.
    However if you could get everyone you needed to cooperate, then you could yes, use defenses to change the flow of battle to engage your forces in more favorable ways... but that will rarely if ever happen and even if you do get the relevant people to work together that well, they likely won't have the time or knowledge to assemble these defenses in time if at all. It's not like everyone has the blue prints for every objectives optimal defense setup on hand at all times.

    not rlly abt defences but abt ppl saying ur wrong: today i was playing as squad leader, and we had no garrys on our point, so i decided to build one. someone didnt like where it was and just told me to uninstall the game. they never suggested a better placement or made a squad so they could get some garrisons down. ppl like that just annoy me

    Mines should be placed ideally in the middle of the passage so that light, medium and heavy tanks will likely drive over it with their hull, otherwise only the tracks will be damaged, as with the mine at 3:06. Also, it takes two mines to destroy a heavy tank, and they should be placed side by side to explode simultaneously or else one mine will detonate the other before the tank drives over and the second one does no damage. Monoespacial addressed this in his ultimate anti-tank guide because there is a lot of misinformation. Otherwise, good video, looking forward for more!
    I also believe that I saw tanks drive over wooden barricades and therefore the one at 2:46 would only slow them down but not stop them like recon and trucks.

      Even tracking a tank is a good strategy as it causes the tank to require repairs which takes time, or it makes them an easier target for rockets or satchels. Tracking a heavy is an economical way to slow it down with 1 mine vs using 2 in the same location

      @GebatronGaming  Рік тому +1

      While that is good information to know, it is also poor advice. Things aren’t as black and white as that. A mine in the middle of the road, especially the US mines, are impossible to not see. Not only will the heavy tank see it, but so will trucks and lighter armor. A mine doesn’t do anyone any good if it’s spotted and destroyed or simply avoided. A mine that is more concealed will catch other vehicles and at least damage the heavy. A damaged tank is still easier to deal with than a healthy tank plus the crew will have to exit the vehicle to repair. The mine I placed was clipped into a rock and next to some grass and good players still would probably catch it. I agree that mines should be placed as centrally as possible if the mine can be somewhat concealed. If not then it’s better to hide it so it will at least do something. The example where I have a mine on the RR tracks would be a good spot for two next to each other. I addressed those things in my AT mine guide too. Thanks for your input and advice!

      @@GebatronGaming It is often map and location depending if mines are visible in the middle of the road, even us mines are sometimes hard to spot buried in the right dirt and mud, particularly on darker maps like hill or phl, where german mines are sometimes easier to spot. I agree that a hidden mine is better than an obvious one but damaging the tracks with one mine, won't really do much if the tracks are not completly destroyed (which is not the case with one mine) and can be rapaired fast or temporarily ignored.
      I guess if mines can't be placed side by side it is proablby better to place them solo in different spots, but placing them if possible in the mid to damage the hull is always the best way to damage a tank. No tank will ignore hull damage.
      It's also a good thing, that many tank drivers don't really watch the road and often drove over my even obvious placed mines. 😅
