    Why won't Treyach or any other COD game company just bring the series back to a historical setting, imagine how many people would get back into their games if they had the next Call of Duty set in WW1. It makes no sense.

      +Ben Tilbrook A lot of times that's what happened. New soldiers who had never been in the trenches would look up over the sandbags at no mans land wondering where this war was and what it looked like only to be picked off by snipers.

    • @bentilbrook1607
      @bentilbrook1607 8 років тому +16

      how does Frankie always get n00bs on the other team. When i play I usually have to use tactics and crawl everywhere so i don't get shot. He just waltzes over the top into no mans land and gets heaps of free kills due to people looking in the complete opposite direction. I lost a few relatives on no mans land myself rip. Do you play Verdun?

    I have visited Verdun several times. It´s a quite intersting place but also very creepy, beause almost all of the woods around Verdun are still restricted area - they´re full of unexploded ordnance, including poison gas.
    There is a building called "Verdun Ossuary", its cellar is filled with the remains of thousands of unknown soldiers who were literally blasted into little fragments - after all the fighting, they rest together.

      The weird thing is now (as of June 2015) that there are tons of sheep roaming those areas. Not sure if it was like that before, but it's odd. Do they want the sheep to try and disturb and thus clear the ordnance? Who knows...

However I'm now back on my feet! I would like to suggest that some of the money goes to their charity as they save thousands of children. All the best, Billy.

    Proleter!
    Btw, as far as the trenches photo is concerned - there are some maps of places on the Internet where you can see the georadar photos and compare the rural areas or even towns with how they looked like in 40s or how they look like now WITHOUT trees and greenery etc. Hence you can pretty much see where the trenches were or were military positions could have been.
    Cool thing :-)

      There's a great story about an WW2 Artic convoy that split up and one ship thought it was going to fight a German battle ship so the cargo ship put the tanks on its decks and lay sheets across it so it could ambush it, but the battle ship was never there and it was a miscomunication. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of that story though

    Could you do a video on this war story, it begins in the Falklands war, a British aircraft carrier was hit by an argentine missile and was sunk, the British decided to call SAS forces to take out these airbases on South American soil, in the middle of the night SAS flew by helicopter to the landing zone on the beach front, they were detected by argentine forces and they decided to land and abandon the helicopters, a few nights later the SAS got canoes and rowed to the beach front before walking to airbases and destroying any argentine plane, some of the SAS ripped parts off the planes before demolition experts could get to the planes, the argentines got word of the SAS seizing the airbase and sent argentine forces to kill them, the SAS ran back to their canoas when they saw the argentines and started rowing back to a British ship, whilst they were rowing the argentine anti boat cannons started shooting the canoes, the SAS spotted an argentine cargo ship in the darkness with no lights on and hide behind it for cover, the argentines firing blind into the water shoot their own cargo ship and the SAS made it safely back to the British fleet.

      Please Dontstalkme Who gave you your history lesson? Its not our bloody fault the ships landed in the wrong place, that is a guilt the British will have to live with. Also we were the first to be sent to our deaths we were just distractions so that the British could get better vantage points against the Turks. British generals sent thousands of unarmed Aussies to there deaths just to end up failing a mission that they had fucked up from the beginning.

  • @VCJacka
    @VCJacka 9 років тому

    The WW1 setting is full of amazing war stories. In particular for me, Capt. Albert Jacka VC, MC and Bar (also the man behind my username). He was the first Aussie to win the VC in WW1 and arguably should be the only soldier to earn 3. He was often considered to be "Australia's Greatest Frontline Soldier". Often he was severely wounded and unexpected to survive only to return to lead the 14th Battalion "Jacka's Mob" once again. Despite all this he had no hatred for the enemy but rather a respect for their fighting abilities similar to the respect between sportsmen. Frankie can you please do a story on Bert as you haven't done one on an Aussie yet and Bert would make a great starting point. Thank you

    Great video. Love the commentary. But just want to clarify, by the time the Christmas Truce rolled around in 1914, both sides of the war had lost hundreds of thousands of men. In fact, the British Empire almost lost their entire professional army and resorted to recruiting untrained young men. The Germans did the same and suffered greatly as thousands of untrained men who never even fired a weapon until battle perished at the first battle of Ypres. Regardless, the point is, the men involved in the Christmas Truce were far from inexperienced by that point. Each of them had significant battle experience. The Christmas Truce truly was a miracle.

    I had some great great uncle who was in WW1. In battle, he was able to capture a German soldier, but when he was marching him back to the Allied trenches, the German soldier was shot by another German sniper apparently to keep him from providing information about some of the trenches of the Central Powers. My great great uncle survived and wrote uncensored letters home about the horrors of war, and one of them featured this event. I might have to get them out of the old trunk along with his uniform to see what the facts are. Been a while since I have looked through his stuff.

    • @Revanmightspear
      @Revanmightspear 9 років тому

      Kurt Yarish You must consider this ! France had a bloody nose already from 1871 when the Germans defeated France in a 1v1 battle. France was desperate to win the war by any means to avoid such a disaster to happen again. But nevertheless not a single bullet has fallen on German soil. The Germans have pushed so fast so far that the entire war was fough in Belgium and France. Germany didn't lose the war on the front but back home. The delegation for a peace treaty was made of generals and statesmen. A cease-fire has been issued so the German delegation can come speak to the allies but the allies saw how just 2 or 3 guys ( can't remember details) has come and they should have waited for the rest but they didn't and pressured the statesmen wothout the generals to sign the treaty in which britain insisted in keeping the northern naval blockade which killed 4 million German by starvation because they stopped transport of food and clothing for months. Germany was stabbed in the back.

    i have been to verdun and seen the battlefields. there are some places where nothing grows because there was so much gas used. you cant leave the paths because you have the danger off finding an grenade. i do recommend going to verdun for everyone that is interested in WW1. and also a fact: when you go to battlefields of WW1 you most likely find graveyards scattered around. that is because the soldiers were buried on the battlefields themselves.

      +M1Garandstudios It's actually even better now they have added a lot more details to it. Also their is an incredible depth of field option. The game does look and play the part. I am hooked.

      M1Garandstudios Not sure what game modes were there before. But there are four game modes at the minute. But it only needs one. Trench warfare. :)

    Frankie is a professional gamer not a historian. Some of his information may not be precise, but at least it is always interesting and not self publicising like most of the others.

      I have some gameplay of this game up. So far there is no commentary, but I will soon enough. Check it out!

      You forgot to add " self publishing " as well...lol
      The trend to post showing themselves in a box at the corner of the screen, is as annoying as it is dumb.....Luckily Frankie & Sada have not done this yet.

    Awesome history lesson Frankie, it seems WW2 likes to overshadow what happen in WW1 but let us not forget all those brave men who lost their life to fight for their countries.

    The armistice came into effect on 11/11/1918 but the war did not end until late 1919. and some believe their was no treaty signed and Germany just used the peace to rebuild following on to the second great war. Units were still fighting in june 1919 in Afghanistan.

    Got to be the best and most informative UA-cam gamer video I've ever seen.
    Thank you.
