Punished Props Academy you should do more nerf guns, those things can be really cool looking and I myself love repainting them to look more real or my own thing.
Great work as usual, Bill. Hearing Brittany from behind the camera makes me wonder if and when she might make an appearance in front of the camera again?
I'm pretty sure the ghost is just Brittany looking for coffee at around 3 am
Is that a Diamond Club logo on the saw back there?
Shaun from Tested, are you here? :)
In case you were wondering, the red tubes on the side are from _Ghostbusters,_ and the silver tubes are from _Ghostbusters 2._ Great stuff, thanks so much for the movie prop, which is near and dear to my heart!
I love the weathering in the Ghostbusters 2 prop--glad we went with that one!
If memory serves, the wheels particular to the GB2 prop. So I think they made the right call.
Also briefly in Ghostbusters the tubes were yellow.
@@Cowboy1138 when was this?
@@RealJoePool It was in the montage sequence. You can see it when Ray is running up the stairs yelling "step aside please." Is it a real big blink and you will miss it detail.
What I really like about how you approach each project is the way you give so much attention to detail. Each prop is meticulously and carefully made. I wish I was this patient with my costume and prop crafting.
That patience is a choice! When you feel yourself wanting to just push through and get it done, take a deep breath! Think about what would be fun and cool to add. you'll get there!
When you see the interior of these things it's like Spirit knew what we would want to do wit these things, it's like "We can't put ALL of this stuff in here without it costing a fortune, to let's leave them some room"
Sweet music for the foot pedal! You and Evan & Katelynn get the best soundtracks
'HERRRUGGGNH '
*snaps styrene*
'Just like that it's so easy'
*checks for hernia*
If you want a really easy way to weather paints with chips and the like, hairspray and salt. The salt sticks to the hairspray and won't harm your undercoat, then you airbrush over the top and use warm water to take the salt off while leaving the top coat pocked and damaged. You can use coarse and fine salt to vary the effect and it gives a very natural look overall
When I was a kid, if I asked for a $50 plastic toy, I would have been laughed at and told to go play with the rusty metal dump truck in the sand pile.
Same, but as an adult I can purchase all the toys! Bwahahahaha!
Inflation: in 1980 what is $50 today would have cost closer to $17
@@punishedprops I think that's the point. These things aren't for kids at all.
Same, except the sandbox was where next door's cat went to the toilet.
@@panedrop Except that $17 would get you a lot more stuff.
I recently watched your videos on making armor from foam, great and fun looking stuff! I've also been rewatching the series Stargate SG-1 and have had a great time pausing the video to inspect the Jaffa armor on screen. After watching your videos detailing how that armor was made, it has been very entertaining to pick out the flaws / repairs / paint effects and to watch it flex in ways armor shouldn't.
Isn't it amazing how you start seeing the way things are put together?
A great fun build and video. On a side note, it would be a cool follow up to build a small removable smoke machine (maybe out of a vape pen or model railroad smoke unit) for all those props that need a little smoke in photos/videos... and so Bill doesn't have to cough every time a vid needs some atmosphere...
That would be a great addition!
It’s doable using a modded vape pen but you’ll need to add a small pump to get the smoke going. like a pump and motor from a breast milking machine - nice and small and will fit in the trap nicely with the vape.
I absolutely LOVE Punished Props Academy! It indeed is an academy! They use easy to find and buy materials and the steps are well explained!
I learn so much from your content! Great video!
Love this build! I would love to see punished Props make a bat-claw or grappling gun, or just anything Batman related. I eventually want to do something Batman related and I would like to follow along with punished Props for my first build.
This past week I used this video to guide me through my own ghost Trap modification. Thanks for that! My trap doesn’t open and close as well as it did before cracking it open, but it looks great and it opens 60% of the time.
That's fantastic! Great work!
Another outstanding mod! Love it guys!
Thanks so much!
The new ghost trap! With so much room for activities!
I just bought the Spirit Halloween trap for my own costume, and you've given me some GREAT ideas! Love this build!
Fantastic!
Floating ghost glue is extra laughy! I love the tone of your videos.
That weathering really brought it to life. Amazing job, as always.
Thanks so much! Isn't weathering magic?
@@punishedprops yes weathering is a true art on its own brings things together really well and it is absolutely magical
It's amazing the sound still works after you cut the wire off !!! Your never supposed to do that, the ghost trap was already pre assembled befor it was sold at Wal-Mart !!!
You can cut and re-attach them if needed :)
The fact that you not only MADE a thing and FILMED it but also included on-theme Easter eggs is some super next level sh*t! Kudos!
Great video! Just used it for my spirit trap, which is my first repaint project. I did a layer of translucent UV reactive paint between the metallic and top coat so that my chipping would glow in a black light.
From the sheet-ghost to the full on CGI trap gag. Upping the FX game for the reveal. I like it. It is the "spirit" of the Ghostbusters. Classic comedy, innovative FXs.
Glad you liked it! We're having a blast with the skits and effects.
Looks great! One idea you might do is have the smoke machine hooked to the foot pedal and go through the hose connectors. Then have the foot pedal activate the pump to push it through. Also, maybe a servo on the bottom to make it jiggle a few times after it closes. Looks as awesome as always, great job!
Those would be awesome additions, for sure!
The mini hacksaw is a real good idea. You can improve it further by making it a pull saw so you don't have to worry about the blade buckeling. Pullsaws in general are awesome imho ^^
You always go the extra mile to not just educate but entertain, I am always stoked to see a new project of yours :)
Thank you so much, that's truly wonderful to hear!
Thanks so much for these videos. With all the new affordable props out there, I've finally decided it's time to assemble a busting uniform. I'll probably just do weathering and cosmetic stuff first, but over time, I plan to add more functionality.
Heck yeah!
Great vid! Love how laid back and cool you work and explain everything!
I've never used a 3D printer, much less seen one. Just the concept of anyone (not a business) owning one of these kinda blows my mind. It's like being 15 when AOL came out. All these friends of mine were amazed with this "space age" technology I now had access to.
It's so fantastic!
I got this trap in August last year and all I've done to it was sand it, I'm just now starting to get my materials to repaint and mod it some since I watch your Ghostbusters videos! I love all this stuff and I follow what's being done, keep it up bro can't wait for more
Man I love watching you make stuff I‘ll never ever be able to make
I remember having an old ghost trap toy as a kid, I think it was a rubber step pad with a hose that opened the doors with air?
Pretty sure I recall glow in the dark plastic on the doors, the whole thing was blue I think, was branded from The Real Ghostbusters cartoon.
Rennis Tora exactly right - I had the same one.
I loved this toy. I didn't have the proton pack but i had the trap. I remember putting a ghost figure on top the closed doors & stomping the trap and the ghost would pop up about 4" & fall in the trap.
itsagundam79 YES! I did that as well. So much fun till one of the doors broke off.
Y E S
I had the whole set. That was one of the best toy line ups ever.
I absolutely LOVE Spirit Halloween props repainted and modded.
I'm stoked to see what they have for this October!
did you keep the belt clip...or did you replace it with something else? Love the video....modded my trap....followed some of your methods...you rock
Absolutely love this video I'm new to prop building and modding. Wanted to do a mod to my trap and wasn't sure where to start thanks.
Glad we could inspire you!
Great video, handy tips and some added humor that never goes wrong (unless it's 2016!). Take it along to Afterlife and let's go Ghostbusters!
I would just love to see a tutorial for portable smoke machines to fit inside props. Vape pens, dry ice, pond misters. I've loved the LED lighting installations in props!
I've modified a Spirit Halloween PKE Meter as part of my own Ghostbuster costume, repainting it to look really beaten. Fragile electronics aside, it was a lot of fun to work on. I'm currently in the midst of assembling a non-functional Belt Gizmo based on the one from Ghostbusters 2.
Loved and appreciated the Warcraft Peon quotes. So awesome!
I painted an airsoft Beretta M9 and a HK G36 and I spent wayy too much time on them but I'm super proud of the work. But enough about me, HOLY COW! This looks awesome! Really enjoyed this and the other Ghostbuster build. Would be cool to see the Proton pack.
Say no more! punishedprops.com/2018/04/23/proton-pack/
FANTASTIC!!! I will definitely give you props on your prop building. LOL!!!
I love the gags you guys do. Love this channel.
Glad you like them. We have so much fun adding little story bits.
Thanks so much for the video (and all of your videos of course.) I had never done anything like this before and watching this and your other Ghostbusters videos gave me the confidence to try it myself. I've just finished up my second Spirit trap and these are such fantastic little starter projects.
Everytime I watch, I pull out the sketch book and start drawing concepts for possible future costume designs.
Wonderful!
That looks amazeing! Great, instructive video. Gonna try this on my ghost trap as soon as I replace my soldering iron.
Thank you so much! We're so glad you enjoyed the video
Great job ! Now, if we good in electronics, we can connect the opening hatch
with the pedal and it will be very fun.
15:26 THANK GOD! It bugs me to no end when people are doing projects and they cut, sand, drill, etc. and never clean anything before they prime and paint. All that dust, debris, and any released oil from any plastic involved does no favors for the final finish or durability of the paint. I'm glad to see other people use isopropyl before continuing.
I know its just a sheet with two black circles for eyes, but when it passes by Bill at 33:48, I got chills. 😂
Spoooooooooooooky!
Spirit Halloween also had a moving book set. It looks a little cheesy, but would be awesome with a cosmetic upgrade :)
Yes! We liked their malfunctioning power outlet display, too.
My whole childhood I wanted an authentic looking Halloween 1 Myers mask, so when trickortreatstudios released theirs for pre-order I actually shit my pants. As a GB fan, its nice to see the toys are still selling.
My 7 year old was just introduced to GB by me
He is hooked!
Cant wait for the next movie
A REAL GB MOVIE
buying him all the gear for xmas he is gonna flip
Bought myself some too 😆
Great idea!! I have built a trap from Sean! But havent done the electronics yet! I think I may just do this and attach the brass coupling to the back of the trap
Heck yeah!
Thank God I stumbled across your video I recently bought my ghost trap proton pack and pke meter and have been wanting to upgrade them and make them a little better especially with a foot pedal and cable for my ghost trap
Right on!
Would also love to see your approach at building a foam proton pack.
Those random WarCraft II Peasant sound bytes in the middle of the video were unexpected but very appreciated.
Ready to work!
if I can afford the 3d printer might as well just buy the matty trap...
I had hope I could do this build until the 3d printer came into play..
but this came out perfect, you did an amazing job
If you're ever looking for super bright LEDs that are ready for power and easy to mount I would suggest "Demon Eyes." They are typically used in a projector when you retrofit vehicle headlights for an accent color. Low power and super bright chips!
There is a tool for what you used your compass for, its a pair of odd leg calipers. I recently started a project, inspired by this channel, repainting a nerf gun, just waiting for paint to dry then the weathering begins. Your channel is great and love all your videos :)
Oh man, we’ll have to get some of those calipers.
That's like the most well put together toy internals I've ever seen,
Right?
That toothpaste tip for the used, scraped look is ingenious!!!!
Thanks!
Fincher makes the best Ghostbuster props that ive seen.
I always find your videos so satisfying to watch, love them
I love the ‘ghost’ interfering with your progress 👻 he KNOWS what you’re up to…
If you like, you might cut and rotate the batteries 90 degrees, then replace the cover with a few inches of aluminum garage door seal track (cut a resister into it). It's pretty cheap, and 'almost' accurate
An idea I had for screw collection, especially when you want to make sure different screws go back in the right places, was to use those weekly medicine dispensers. They snap closed too, so also unlikely to go AWOL.
Great idea!
That is an amazing mod! I wish you had made it so the pedal opened the trap. After all that work it would have been even better to see that
Like the Walmart Ruby's version? It had a little gear box in it. I actually reversed engineered that exact gear box so it drops into the spirit trap as a retrofit like it belongs there. Just add a pedal and voila.
If you're cutting many bolts there are wire strippers with bolt cutters near the hinge. They cut nice and clean and leave the threads in good shape. I think you'd have to look online for metric. My Klein set only have 8-32 and 6-32.
Pretty clever of the ghost to use fishing wire so you can't seem him tugging on the bottle.
👍 nice adjustments. Looks great
Thank you!
Punished Props Academy
Can you do the goggles from the spirit store ?
cool keep up the great work
Thanks, will do!
Could add tray of dry ice, small fan, & servo pump with small amount of water to activate dry ice
I don't think the fan and pump are necessary. If the water were in a container with the ice, say a small UNSEALED water bottle glued inside. The sublimation creates pressure to move it.
I say unsealed in caps, because otherwise you've made a small bomb.
@@GrugTheJust good point.
I loved repainting and messing around with the ben10 omnitrix!
Oh very fun!
I just finished mine! Used a lot of your ideas. I added lights and I am building a scratch built pedal
That's fantastic!
Great job! I just purchased the Ghostbusters proton pack. Any mod ideas? Thank you for all you do. Learned a lot from this build I can use for other projects.
Wow that was so much fun watching! Thanks I got some Inspirations for some of my own modes
This Ghostbuster approves of this video!
Bill! Mustard and rough rock salt mixed gives amazing chipping effect.
When your hotdog tastes... like a piece of wood... who ya gonna call? Ghost mustard!
A perfect dirty look on things like the trap that I use is acrylic paint like brown black and a bit of lime green with some water paint with a sponge brush and cleaned off the extra paint and it is beautiful
When I was really little I had an amazing Ben 10 watch that glowed and had individual disks to change your hero. I really loved that toy and would also love to see it modified
i wish we had these in the UK one you continue to inspire me in my prop building you guys rock \m/
Great video guys! Really enjoyed it!
14:34 not just from the first movie, they had many different traps that did different effects in both movies. One was a stunt trap that had actual working wheels when they'd throw it across the floor that had lights, they'd have one with wheels that didn't move for certain shots and had opening doors also with lights, then they had one that had a smoking effect that only used smoke, limited lights and the doors didn't open. in the first movie they had the containment grid scene where Ray shows Winston how it works, the trap had a separate cartridge when you'd put it in the containment unit! You put it in, the cartridge comes out cleaning the trap from what you caught. When Ghostbusters II came around they had to scale down the trap to be lighter and easier to carry around, but they basically did the same thing for both movies. They had at least three or four other traps that did various other things🤷 movie magic right?
I love how the ghost is just a person who hasn't finished their coffee yet...same buddy same
Hah!
Absolutely love this build!! My only complaint is that he didn't use any green paint to emulate slime!
Oha.. return of Cassiopeia II - awesome track!
Glad you caught that!
You shown the paranormal activity in house or in workshop lol I love it
It's spooky up in here!

That was so cool made that look so real, laugh with the silly ghost.lol.
It’s such a cheeky ghost!
Love this mod vid. its awesome you did something from my fav. movie just a few days before my bday! im counting this as your gift to me lol Keep it up!
Happy Birthday!
I could be wrong but I recall at some point, I think in the first GB's, Ray was holding 5 or 6 traps at once. Also I've found a much cheaper alternative to Tamiya tape. There are numerous manufacturers in Japan the make the same thing as Taniya and it called washi tape and can be found at most craft stores and amazon.
This edition of Punished Props....MORE SANDING!!
Next time on Punished Props... more sanding!
@@punishedprops What you need is an 80s style montage video of....sanding!
Awesome build! but you know, now you need a containment chamber to empty that trap out LOL
Hi, My name is Don! I'm 62 years old and on disability. I have been to a lot of cons in my life. Mostly Dragon-con and Days of the Dead, mostly just as a fan. So decided to start cosplaying. I'm really new at this, but have a lot of friends who cosplay and they and you have inspired me. I didn't have any of the tools, glues, eva foam or anything. i'm learning the hard way, that this aint easy. Maybe I started to late in life. I decided to do a crossover of V for Vendetta and the joker. I've gotten everything but the purple coat like heath ledger wore. It's just to exspensive for me right now, even the 3xl, costs extra. then I watched your video's on ghostbusters stuff, and thought I try a ghostbusters cosplay. things just don't seem to go my way, just seems everything is going against me, i'm getting really depressed and disappointed. I got the goggles, I got the belt, I got a pke meter and a few other things. I found a ghostbusters jumpsuit on Fingerhut for 70.00 dollars and its cheap and doesn't fit. it say its oversized and haven't even started thinking about the proton pack yet, lol! I'm just so disappointed. Like I said, its depressing. I don't know why i'm writing, just looking for some inspiration or something, I guess. I don't want to give up, but it just seems everything is going against me.
Keep trying! Sometimes you can find costume pieces for cheap by modifying used clothing or toys. There's always more than one way to accomplish a goal. Keep at it, keep looking for other options, and don't be afraid to think outside the box!
@@punishedprops Thanks! I really appreciate it!
You are awesome!
Thanks 4 the Vid from Germany!
Btw, its so easy to disassemble i think they designed it for fans to improve it this way if they wanna do it 😊
I mean: from Fans to Fans
Great video, just picked up a spirit trap and I was looking for a video just like this to help me mod it. Thank you
You're most welcome!
Is there a reason why you use isopropyl alcohol as opposed to denatured alcohol? I've always used denatured alcohol when I'm prepping something for paint.
The masking around that knob is a clever trick!
Tah-dah!
Now you have to make a translucent Slimer prop.
My favorite kits to mod are the Revell Star Wars and plane kits. They have so much potential, but their out-of-the-box paint job doesn’t cut it for me.
That's awesome!
Hello, this is my first video that I’ve seen of yours. Great video , cool tutorial. I liked ,subbed , and rung the notifications bell ! Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much! We're so happy to have you!
Looks really cool, I would have added some lead weight in the bottom though to give it some heft, make it feel more metal
Great idea!
You should make a fusion core portable charger, or a working vault door, or the proton pack from goast busters, or gypsy dangers arm sowrd, and or the portal gun. If you see this can u consider my ideas, but if u don't i understand. Anyway keep up the good work and thx for putting so much effort into your vids just for us.
I definitely remember having a pretty nice clone trooper blaster when I was a kid that would be great for modding
Lookscool!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Warcraft 2 reference! Love it.
Righto!
