I had to do the same thing to my G (passenger side rear bolt... I cried) I found that pulling the harness completely (disconnecting cam sensor O2 and what not) made it super easy to pull, clean and reinstall the cover without worrying about rolling a gasket. Great video though man very clear on installing the helicoil :)
Also using a torque wrench helps prevent stripping as well as using compressed air to blow out any oil and grime from the holes helps prevent this big time, those aluminum blocks are finicky)
Johnson’s Jams how did you go about drilling the rear bolt at that angle I have to do the same thing
I did my valve covers a while ago. It took me a day and a half. I can’t believe it only took you about 10 minutes!
JKC I only had to do one side and I've done it before a couple of times haha. Took me about 2 hours just for this side
Aaron Newman how long do you wait to run the g after this
Dj Hall- you don’t have to wait to drive the car after a valve cover replacement. I drove mine right after I put it back together.
@@jackchn23 8 hours is what recommended
I usually wait day or more if I can

I'm a giant daddies girl and I absolutely love cars. My first car is going to be an 06 G35 coupe, I have so many plans! :D
Nice!
What size socket did use use to attach to the tap to make the treads? I’ve tried many they are either too big or too small. Seems like need something b/w a 7 and 8mm which don’t exist.
Can someone please give me advice, I have an 04 g35 sedan x , the driver side valve cover right right rear bolt is broken, and the space is very limited for a drill, how do I get that broken bolt out?
Did you ever have problems from not snapping the tab off of the bottom of the Helicoil? Is there a reason you didn’t snap them off?
Hey, Aaron. What size drill bit did you use?
Good work on the gasket job and the helicoil..i wouldn't use power 🔧 on those 10 mil bolts...just my opinion after all these years working on cars.
Duo Maxwell how tight should the bolts be?
@@Joke1Time usually between 8 and 10 pound feet.or 96 to 120 inch pound
What size is that HELIcoil?
M6x1
What size tap is that
What if I don’t have a drill near by
I'm hoping my leak is from the valve cover too. I was working on the front end today replacing my wheel bearings, rebuilding brake caliper, and both compression rods. Had some issues taking the cross member off, but notice decent drip near my bell housing and transmission. I also bought new o-rings for the cam/crank sensors, since I've had this car since 06 and they are probably brittle.
Permatex also sells a spray adhesive that comes in gold or clear if I remember. You spray it on whatever the gasket goes into and then a few minutes later it gets tackey and keeps the gasket in place.
leak from back of engine and bellhousing is usually from back of intake manifold gasket
Wish I could afford a g35 😢
They are cheap bro. I bought mine for 2k it’s a 6 speed 95k miles and on Coilovers and rims.
Bryan Conner shiid where do you live, they’re about 5k-6k for a clean manual g35. The automatic ones run for 2k-4k
Clout_Sid I stay in Vegas bro. And it was a lucky find lmao. He wanted 4K cause it wasn’t runnin right, but a catalytic converter was messed up so It was a $300 fix and now it’s all good
Bryan Conner well shit you got lucky, here in Baltimore everyone is an automatic. I have to go to virginia or Delaware to find a manual one
Clout_Sid yeah bro but if you want to see how it turns out then I’ll add you on Instagram if you got one I’ll be posting my car a lot
